Sandwell and Dudley railway station is on the Stour Valley Section of the West Coast Main Line, on the outskirts of Oldbury town centre on Bromford Lane (the main route towards West Bromwich, West Midlands), England.

It was originally opened as 'Oldbury' in 1852 and was one of two stations in the town. The more centrally located Great Western Railway Oldbury was located on the site of the bingo hall opposite the Sainsburys supermarket and was the only station on the GWR's Oldbury Branch Line from Langley Green.

However, in 1984 it was rebuilt as a railway station designed to serve the metropolitan boroughs of Sandwell and Dudley with a new name to suit. It was equipped with longer platforms capable of handling long-distance trains intercity trains.

Services

The station today is operated by London Midland on behalf of Centro. Services are provided by Virgin Trains and London Midland.

Current Services are as follows:

  • 2tph London Midland stopping services each to Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street, one of which travels onwards to Walsall via Aston
  • 1tph Virgin Trains services - one to Wolverhampton and the other to London Euston via Birmingham New Street, Birmingham International, Coventry and Watford Junction. Occasionally services will also stop at Rugby and/or Milton Keynes Central.

Both platforms have lifts, making the station fully accessible to people in wheelchairs.
