CPU unclearly labelled

While its labelled in Sony/ IBM's labels, its very unclear to anyone what it means . Isn't the clearer way to say it is

  • IBM PowerPC* combined with 3 high MFLOPS coprocessors.

(this means that for a single job, the MFLOPS could be 1/3rd max. But generally requirement for huge MFLOPS will be abl to be load balanced across 3 cores.)

The coprocessors must have an instruction set -what is that ?

PS3 suffers from lack of future proof

This is now evident as - PS4 will move to the ubiquitous 80x86 CPU family..

- Why 80x86 ? future proof. Able to leverage the cpu to gpu interfaces and the gpu's already being developed for 80x86, which will be a long lasting produt... they may make CPU and GPU upgrades a possibility... why doesnt the PS have a bus for plugging in modules , like a GPU card..

They are kicking themselves that they didnt make the PS family more like a PC in a console... Windows 8 for PS4 or PS5.. why not hey ? Microsoft cannot stop them . If they run 80x86 cpu, Jailbreakers WILL run Virtualisation .. (VmWare style layers..)

and run Windows...

For the section named: Model comparison

This line: 12 GB super slim

should read: 120 GB super slim 128.194.239.26 (talk) 16:30, 1 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

 Not done 12GB is correct. See here - X201 (talk) 07:50, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

PS Vita Connectivity/Cross Platform play

The PS3-to-PS Vita functionality is not mentioned here, but is a pretty compelling new feature for both devices, and one Sony is pitching as an alternative to the WiiU's tablet controller. Sony have added special firmware updates to the PS3 to enable support the PS Vita, including allowing data transfer, sharing licensing between PS3 and PS Vita versions (download one format, get another for free). It also have remote play options similar to the PSP functionality. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.109.169.137 (talk) 01:09, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't the article be updated to reflect that PlayStation 3's current System software version has been updated to version 4.30 (Source)? Furthermore, the article states "In the UK, the 500 GB model was released on September 28, 2012, while the 12 GB model will be available from October 12, 2012". The "will be available from October 12, 2012" is outdated and should be updated as we have passed that date. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.111.86.106 (talk) 13:50, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

 Done - Thanks. Chimpanzee Us | Ta | Co 11:25, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

PS3 Slim no longer in production?

[citation needed]. As far as I know we just all *pretend* Sony is replacing the Slim with the Super Slim. I want to know if i'll still be able to buy a "brand new" PS3 Slim from a store in 2013, heh. Le Déchaîné (talk) 02:18, 23 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article talks about which models are still in production - the ones that factories are still producing. Obviously, retailers and distributors will still have Slims for some time but generally, once Sony start making a new model they stop manufacturing the previous one because it's very costly to keep two different manufacturing lines open at once. There isn't really any way of knowing when the supply of existing Slim models will run out. Chimpanzee Us | Ta | Co 11:30, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ban on retail sales of the PlayStation 3 in China may be lifted

Currently the PS2, PS3, PSP and PSVita cannot be officially bought "retail" in China, however many people in China still own them and in most cases they are sold by resellers in the black market, with consoles coming in from North America, Europe and Hong Kong. The ban on domestic retail sales might be lifted after the PS3 has received official government certifications. -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 17:48, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lv0 keys leaked

A few weeks ago the lv0 key set are leaked by Three Musketeers, now scene devs are able to create CFW that is higher than 3.55. I think this new info should be added, maybe even as part of the Rebug CFW info. Also, the Rebug doesn't allow full debug capabilities, but DEX fw does. DEX OFW prior to 4.30 are able to be installed on retail (CEX) PS3s. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.0.222.9 (talk) 09:07, 7 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you have sources for this information then I think it would make a good addition. But I think you will need to create an account to edit this article, as it is semi-protected. Jonpatterns (talk) 12:35, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
