A favor please

Hello friend, in the month of September 2005, your vote had made me an administrator. we all know that the life here is exciting and full of challenges. I would request you to please spare fem moments for me, and favor me with your comments and suggestions (here please) on my performance as a wikipedian. Let us continue to build the Better than the Best global encyclopedia. Thank you and regards. --Bhadani 10:21, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank for your response Sundar. I also thank you for your message wishing my welfare. I shall surely take care, In the meanwhile, I wish to inform you that I have added to images to Bank of India – one of the building where its main branch is housed, and the other being an inside view of the Zonal Office located in the same building. Until very recently, I was working there. Regards. --Bhadani 08:44, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject WS

Just letting you know I have created a userbox for WikiProject Writing Systems at Template:User WikiProject WS. It looks like this:

Just add {{User WikiProject WS}} to your userpage. BTW, any questions or comments should be directed to the project's talkpage, as I will be spamming this message to all current members. Thanx!--The ikiroid (talk)(Help Me Improve) 22:32, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request

Hi Sundar, it's been a long time since we communicated! Hope things are going well. I'm pretty psyched that Bangalore will be on the Main Page tomorrow! I have a small request for you in that regard. Please add Bangalore to your watchlist and keep an eye on User:24.189.163.184. He has been vandalizing the article and removing the section in Demographics which portrays the city's past episodes of communalism. He has already been given test-1 and test-2 today (he also has a past history of being blocked for vandalism). I suspect POV warriors will be abound aplenty when the article hits the Main Page tomorrow. My own automatic is loaded and ready! Thanks AreJay 23:50, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tamil History

Hi Sundar, I will be looking at Chronology of Tamil history today and this weekend. I am also considering starting an article History of Tamil Nadu which gives an overview of the history from pre-historic to the mordern times. But I will need a lot of help with that. Cheers - Parthi (Venu62) 19:52, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi sundar, as promised I have expanded Chronology of Tamil history. Take a look and pass on any comments. This could be the skeleton for the more comprehensive History of Tamil Nadu. Cheers - Parthi (Venu62) 23:51, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! The template for Portal:India/Selected article removal candidates was not made, and I tried to make it. However, the result Template:Pisarc is not ok. It is not functioning perfectly as can be seen in the talk pages where this has been put, for example, Talk:Raja Ravi Varma and Talk:Cheese. See that the template shows the name of the article once again at the end! I have already contacted Nichalp (talk · contribs) in this regard. You can also help to resolve this technical matter.

Many articles in Portal:India/Selected articles deserve to be delisted as they are either not india related or do not meet the criteria. It seems from the list as if many articles were NOT chosen by going through the prescribed procedure, rather chosen somewhat indiscriminately. Please see. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 10:55, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thanks. In fact, the criteria for India SA contains that the article should be India-related. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 12:25, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Hydkat (talk · contribs) just did it.--Dwaipayan (talk) 12:43, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re: TOC

Hi, you seem that you have misunderstood my problem. I am not talking of moving the toc around the article. What I want is to make the toc Replace the left-hand side toolbox, searchbox, and navbox, and render it such that it fixed and do not scroll out of the screen if the article is scrolled. My intention is to find a layout which keeps the toc onscreen always regarless of which position in the article one is in - be at the start, the middle, or the end, without affecting the layout of the articles. The macros do not give this effect, nor are they scalable with long tocs, and higher resolutions. Please chip in if you have any suggestion regarding how to achieve what I want. --soUmyaSch 12:15, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not just placing the toc outside, it must be placed in a different iFrame, not just a div. And if I do so, the left-mounted boxes will get hidden, so they have to be moved to somewhere else - I can't see any space to move them to. It was this suggestion I was asking for - where can I move these toolbox, searchbox and navbox. Anywayz, thanks for your help. --soUmyaSch 12:32, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Possible candidate for deletion?

Hi, I stumbled across this article: Bala S. Manian which to me seems like a self-promoting piece by someone. The creator's ID is User:Zmanian. Cheers - Parthi (Venu62) 09:39, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I could be wrong - Parthi (Venu62) 09:41, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The article has now references to news items etc., It can be toned down to be more NPOV and less fancruft though. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 09:50, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please see [[Portal:India/Selected article removal candidates]] and its talk page. Many articles in Portal:India/Selected articles needs speedy deletion. I thought it would be better to contact an administrator as the editor responsible for the portal (Shyam Bihari (talk · contribs)) is on vacation. Please see the matter. Thanks.--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:27, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dwaipayan means speedy removal and not speedy deletion. As an experienced editor, we request you to take the initiative in mass removal of such articles from India's Portal. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 20:12, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well. I see that the problematic articles are removed. I'd like to have only India-related featured articles in the queue. Let's decrease the frequency of rotation. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 06:56, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gurubrahma

Hi Sundar - I noticed your "about time" comment. If I may ask, what is the matter? Rama's Arrow 14:31, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, sorry for the confusion caused. "About time" refers to the fact that I had already announced my inactivity/wikibreak on my user/talk pages almost a month back but waited for a month to see if I'll be still active. It doesn't appear that I'll find enough time before 2007, so my editcount(iti)s may be limited to 100-200 per month. Hence, I felt it was "about time" to move myself to inactive members. --Gurubrahma 17:05, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks :-)

Wheel warring

Please do not engage in wheel warring in the future, and wait for a consensus to emerge before undoing an administrator's actions. While unblockings of the type you just used have been routine in the past, the community seems to be drifting towards a stricter line against wheel warring. If you read the WikiEN-L archives or the Wikipedia:Proposed wheel warring policy you can see what I'm talking about. Thanks and have a great day. — Phil Welch (t) (c) 10:52, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Sundar. I have been working on the Delhi article for the past week now and I think it is ready for Peer Review. However, the article does not follow some guidelines of WikiProject Indian cities. Also, I have made a request to merge articles on Delhi and National Capital Territory of Delhi. See Talk:Delhi. Need your advice and feedback. Thanks --Incman|वार्ता 10:25, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anwar's user page

Hi. I left this comment of User:Anwar saadat's talk page after noticing some copyrighted images that he is using on his userboxes. He refuses to understand wikipedia's fair use policy which specifically states that such images should not be used on user pages. I am not trying to harass him or something and I usually bring such things to the notice of editors who might have done it by mistake. But now he ignores my comment and has put it under the heading "Troll". I have given up trying to explain the issue to him. Can you explain it to him? Or should I just stop and let him use copyrighted images on his talk page? - Aksi_great (talk) 11:14, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I understand. Things are ok now. I see that 2 other people have already removed the images from his user page, leaving blank images in place. - Aksi_great (talk) 11:29, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Hi Sundar! Thanks for the wishes and the BEST notice. It's been a long time since the article was featured. Nice to have it up as TFA. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 13:04, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tamil literature

Hi Sundar, Thanks for looking at Tamil literature. At the moment it is just a data dump. I wasn't sure how to organise it. I felt that this article being a sort of a main article should concentrate on the history and cultural impact on the evolution of Tamil literature. I am not an expert in this field. I think someone like you or Arvind should review this and suggest changes and additions. Cheers - Parthi 02:53, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

India

You can look into http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/India_%28cat%29 . The link was added to top of India, which I reverted. The article in question has a link to an Indian news paper which says the name was protested in India. --Ragib 06:50, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help for template

Hi, this is the ikiroid again, trying to scout out help for Wikipedia:WikiProject Writing systems. I'm looking for anyone who can help contribute to Template:Infobox WS. It's an esoteric sort of template, copied from Template:Infobox Language that now needs to be revised for writing system pages. All ideas and comments about it should be directed to Template talk:Infobox WS. Contact me with any questions or comments. Thanks!--The ikiroid (talk)(Help Me Improve) 21:55, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Standardisation of scripts in city names

I think before we label something as non standard and cleaning it up, we should first debate about the standard itself. If so many violations of the current standard are there, then let's relook at the standard. It takes more effort to add to an article and is easier to remove. A label in 3 languages does not lessen an article on a city. If the 3 scripts are arbitrary I agree there needs to be a standard, but if they are not then the standards need a relook.Haphar 11:56, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sundar, The article is almost done. If you could you please take a look and do a copy edit, that would be great. I removed a sentence regarding Governors appointing CMs prior to Independence. I do not have a reference for that. If you know a reference, please add that. Let me know any further changes that need to be done on the article. Thanks, Ganeshk (talk) 21:42, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sundar, Can you please take a look at the article and let me know how it looks? Thanks, Ganeshk (talk) 07:18, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the comments. User:Paddu and myself were working on the article over the weekend. The images were an challenge. Images are getting the overlapped into tables and shrinking them. We had to add {{clr}} tag so that they don't. Please suggest what needs to be done to fix the layout? - Ganeshk (talk) 15:30, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I changed your edit from madras court to supreme court. - Ganeshk (talk) 15:31, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I have listed on PR. - Ganeshk (talk) 17:15, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
More info. about {{clr}} is at User talk:Ganeshk#Blank spaces. After you removed it the images overlap with the table for small browser widths. It is more glaring in the classic skin than monobook but for smaller widths even monobook would get affected. I don't know how important this issue is. -- Paddu 15:26, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You can see this happen when screen is under or equal to 1024x768. In higher screen widths (my newer laptop) this does not happen. But most people use 1024x768 and that should be addressed. - Ganeshk (talk) 15:44, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please add a Political party ideologies section similar to that in the List of Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom? I got the idea from what you had added here. That would add additional information for the reader unfamiliar with local politics. - Ganeshk (talk) 06:40, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This and this. Sorry could not find anything more specific. I will keep looking - Ganeshk (talk) 07:43, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's on FLC finally. Please comment. - Ganeshk (talk) 19:52, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sundar, Please check this edit of Saravask. He raises good points. Not sure why he reverted himself. I fixed the first two points. Could you please help with the last two? Thanks, Ganeshk (talk) 15:47, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

translation request

Hi Sundar, a translation request: Could you add the Tamil translation to: commons:Template:Nazi symbol? Thanks, =Nichalp «Talk»= 08:10, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Sundar! I have to bother you again: Browsing though Category:License tags, I found more such licences that could do with a translation if and when you have the time:

Plus an additional two tags are created to move works from the local wiki to commons. eg:

Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 11:14, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Ir's eerie. The link is really not working from here. What do u think? TN govt blocked me? LoL. Wait wait, it is working. Well, the link is working now! Ok, that fixes it.

Now, what do you think about that citation needed tag? Why don't you just remove it? IMO, nobody is going to check out. I even saw your posting in Yahoo answers. I see you have checked out my naughty suggestion in GanshK's talk page. However, it is almost impossible for me to change the comment, and support the list, unless the citation needed tag is removed! Because it is against the criteria no. 3 , accuracy. Please do not misunderstand me. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 14:45, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Zealous Editor

Sundar, I found you through the India portal, and I'm sure you can deal with this situation better than I can (or send it to someone who can). The user Embarkedaxis has deleted portions of articles (ie Balochistan (Pakistan)) and in some cases re-arranged articles to make references to Pakistan, sometimes replacing "Indian culture" with "Pakistani culture." In one instance he deleted a mention of a recipe involving involving pork. I am sure some of his references to Pakistan are quite legitimate, but it is clear that some of his edits are out of line. I don't know the issues well enough or have the administrative authority to deal with this, so I'm forwarding it to you. --Eliyak 16:33, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re Tirunelveli

Hi Sundar

I didn't remove the Ayyavazhi mention from the Thoothukudi page. I have included Ayyavazhi in the Tirunelveli page. See [[3]] :)

It was hard work going through all the pages where I had to remove the irrelevant mentions of Ayyavazhi. I feel as if I must have edited each and every page in WP. I wonder when we'll find inserts such as 'Baking Soda - Ayyavazhi followers also use baking soda in their cooking', or 'United States - The US can potentially have a large Ayyavazhi population', etc.!! - Cheers Parthi 07:07, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
