Heat's Road Song for their player introduction against the Dallas Mavericks in the Finals
Does anyone know the name of this song? The one that the Heat used to introduce their players in Dallas? Its called "clubbed to death" by rob dougan — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.48.236.205 (talk) 03:33, 12 August FLOP CITY 2011 (UTC)
Name Origin
What is the origin of the name "The Heat" for the Miami NBA team?
If I'm not mistaken, I believe that the name was chosen in a "Name the Team" contest.

"Unworthy Opponents" article - does anyone have it?
From a Boston Globe article on the Miami Heat winning the NBA 2006 Championship:
Wade said the Heat got motivation from an article titled ``Unworthy Opponents" after Game 2 and, as he put it, ``it blew my mind. It blew all our minds.
http://www.boston.com/sports/articles/2006/06/21/hot_stuff/?page=2
And from an LA Times article, for confirmation:
"An article that was written, I won't say who it was written by, but [the headline read], 'Unworthy Opponents,' Wade said. "We were unworthy to be playing against them after one game? That blew my mind. It blew our team's mind.
"I kept that in mind. Still got that article."
This article would make a nice piece of historical evidence.
ADD UNDER 2010- PRESENT: THE THREE MIAMIGOS
First commented under an article by Henry Abbott (http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/17867/name-the-crimes-of-lebron-james) by a fan named Omar F. Medina of the USAF stationed in Afghanistan. The Three Miamigos is composed of three NBA players on The Miami Heat roster LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. The name was choosen for Miami's large Latino community and also a film called The Three Amigos; where three actors overcome overwhelming odds against a band of bandits to safely rescue their friends. —Preceding unsigned comment added by El chihuahua 13 (talk • contribs)
- If the name catches on, which would amaze me, there might be a place in the article for a brief mention. For now, random nicknames made up by fans don't belong here. --Onorem♠Dil 16:49, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Then why is the Miami Thrice listed? While tossed around by the media, it has not been widely accepted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.223.188.215 (talk) 22:07, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Under the uniforms section there was never a correlation made about the Floridians jersey the temporarily wore.
The Heat wore replicas of the 1970-71 Floridians uniforms for seven dates in 2005-06 as part of the NBA's "Hardwood Classics" program. During these games Heat dancers wore bikinis with white go-go boots like their Floridian predecessors.
Put the necessary hyperlinks in the appropriate places.

Uniforms Are Distorted
The uniforms on display in the team box on the left are distorted. The colors appear as white, orange and maroon. The actual Miami Heat colors are black, red, white and yellow. These jerseys are more accurate and better images: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:MiamiHeatHome.png http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:MiamiHeatRoad.png —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.235.102.232 (talk) 23:38, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Additionally, Miami also had an alternate red uniform in the mid 90's that was of the same style of the team's original black uniform. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.92.240.130 (talk) 14:22, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
"Heatles"?
I don't see a reason why that picture of James, Wade and Bosh should be labeled as "FLOPPERS OF THE YEAR". That nick seemed to me more of a tongue-in-cheek comment from Lebron, and the media (or anyone) doesn't really refer to them by it. I think it's okay to leave the Lebron quote about the nick in that paragraph, but the picture should have a more professional and appropriate label. Thief12 (talk) 20:46, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

2010 - present: Big 3 Era
Am I missing something, or is the entire "The Decision" show and LeBron's signing with the Heat completely missing from this article? There is mention of LeBron predicting a dynasty, but where does it actually mention him signing with the team??
2001–2003: Missing the playoffs
Is the "ping-pong" ball reference there specifically because Yao Ming is of Chinese background?
"Miami began to rebuild in 2002–03. Thy drafted Caron Butler in the first round and Rasual Butler in the second round of the 2002 NBA Draft. Miami supposedly missed out on potentially selecting Yao Ming by one ping-pong ball during the draft lottery" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.14.233.223 (talk) 23:03, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

Blog/SLAPP Controversy with Ranaan Katz
Heat minority owner Katz is in what is basically an attempt to silence critics via spending lots of money... not only has he threatened to sue a blogger for things said about him, he's claiming he plans to sue the attorneys of the blogger for defending/advising him, and also to sue anyone linking to the criticizing blog.
Cue the Streisand Effect in one... two... three...
and here
http://rkassociatesusa.blogspot.com/
a) I'd note the fact that there is a minority owner is conveniently/oddly absent from the Heat entry. b) I don't feel competent to write about this, but thought it ought to be covered, so figured attention to the matter would get someone else's interest...
- This appears unrelated to the Miami Heat, and more relevant to Katz's life. There is currently no article for Ranaan Katz; I'm not familiar enough to know if he is notable enough for one.—Bagumba (talk) 02:04, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Can we update the Espy's award section for the heat?
Lebron james won three espys: best male athlete, best nba player, and best finals performance. The Miami heat as a whole won the Best Team espy award. i think it would be fantastic to recognize these achievements and list them in the award section. and perhaps Pat rileys Chuck Daley coaching award as well? and the gold medal wade won in the olympics. i think these would be great additions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.64.67.240 (talk) 09:16, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Era headers
I'd appreciate input from experienced editors for consensus re this header [2]. I've reached 3rr regarding reversion of an inappropriate header, where the following sub-headings only go to 2006. User doesn't explain rationale, just keeps restoring.... 99.149.85.40 (talk) 04:55, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
- Not only is 'championship contention' a more accurate header description for the subheads that follow--I've again replaced it for the recently insistent 'Wade Era'- but the article has far larger issues re: tone and cites. most of the seasonal summaries have no sources whatsoever....sports articles are not exempted from Wikipedia's requirement that all content be reliably sourced. 76.248.149.47 (talk) 14:11, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
- I've commented at the NBA Project page [3], in hopes of reaching a wider range of editors. 76.248.149.47 (talk) 14:30, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
History section
The article is at 61K of readable prose and Miami Heat#Franchise history should be split into History of the Miami Heat, similar to History of the Los Angeles Lakers, History of the Boston Celtics, etc. A short summary can be placed here instead.—Bagumba (talk) 05:58, 27 October 2012 (UTC)
I agree with the suggestion. 76.108.130.157 (talk) 17:07, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

Color of Infobox
Black and Orange? In my opinion it doesn't look good, Miami doesn't use orange at all. It's not a part of any of their jerseys, the logo has orange near the end of flame but it isn't really a Miami Heat color. For some reason the color of the Heat's Infobox it should be black and white, red and white, or black and red. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.117.6.202 (talk) 22:50, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
Captains
Udonis Haslem is a team Captain. This has been widely noted by the media and Heat players that he is. He's also the longest tenured member of the Heat with Dwyane Wade so this also helps assert this claim. Every time I edit him as a Captain someone deletes it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Psycosiis (talk • contribs) 23:23, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

Indiana Pacers is not a true rival with the Miami Heat. I was contacted by someone saying they put it back up because they believe it looked better the way it did before i deleted them from being a Miami rival. The user is JCRules. I believe that the Pacers as a rival should be removed, and not stay on just to make the page look better. 98.218.106.237 (talk) 06:39, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

Cleveland Cavaliers
The rivalry between the Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers first began in 2003. This was when two current superstars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade were drafted to their respective teams. The Cleveland Cavaliers without a doubt chose LeBron James to be the next best thing for their franchise. Dwyane Wade was also a very big competition to LeBron at this time and the future for both teams were bright. After many years of discontent on the Cleveland Cavaliers on July 8, 2010 LeBron James announced that he will be leaving Cleveland and taking his talents to South Beach to join the Miami Heat. He wanted the opportunity to play with the two big stars, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. This became known as the Big 3 era. LeBron leaving Cleveland sparked a rivalry between the two teams, as the fans of Cleveland were very upset of his departure. After the decision was made Cavs fans burned his jersey and lit cars on fire to express their anger about his decision.
On December 2, 2010 the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers played their first game against each other since the departure of LeBron. This game had a very hostile crowd and booed LeBron continuously throughout the game. The end result was that the Miami Heat beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 118 – 90. LeBron James scored 38 points, had 5 rebounds, and 8 assists. Throughout the year, LeBron received much criticism, and was still booed by the fans of Cleveland. During this year, many Heat fans were upset because he would not convert on “clutch” shots or game winning shot attempts. Without a doubt, the Miami Heat ended up making it to the NBA Finals, where they lost to the Dallas Mavericks in 6 games. This rivalry continues to grow as the Cleveland Cavaliers are beginning to rise up with their current star point guard Kyrie Irving. As the Cavaliers continue to develop with young players their franchise continues to prove that they do not need LeBron, and continue to strive to beat the Miami Heat.
