The request is fully plausible as a {{R from alternative language}}, but can not be created by sub-sysops. Looking at MediaWiki:Titleblacklist and Meta:Title blacklist I don't find формóвка, so I assume it matches a regex. I'd support creating the redirect. Not done The problem with the blacklist is that it doesn't like mixed Latin and Cyrillic, and the "ó" is not a Cyrillic character but a Latin o-acute. I'm not sure we can do accented Cyrillic - I have looked through several pages of ru-wiki (to see if I could find one to copy) without seeing any.

In any case, I'm doubtful about this. It was introduced into the article Ushanka in this edit, with no source cited; and the word is not mentioned in ru:Ушанка. There is ru:формовка , but it seems to mean "forming" in the sense of "moulding". JohnCD (talk) 10:19, 25 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You are right, JohnCD, the 5th character is U+00F3 = Latin small letter o with acute accent, but judging from the spelling found online it should be U+043E = Cyrillic small letter o. As far as I can tell, a spelling with acute accent as stress mark (effectively written as U+043E followed by U+0301 = Combining acute accent) does not see much use if any. I have changed the spelling in this request's heading using capital Ef and small о. (MediaWiki seems to apply the same rule to Cyrillic as it does to Latin letters: first letter has to be upper case, e.g. ru:Формовка, not ru:формовка, ru:Ушанка, not ru:ушанка &c.)

As for verification, it is true that ru:Ушанка does not mention формовка. But do a Google search on

and we find plenty of hits such as
