Create a nation state

Szvest enjoys your company and is thinking of creating a nation state according to the principles of Esperanza. Please let's vote on this:

P.S. We can decide later on if the state is to be created w/in Esperanza or at nationstates.net. We can also decide whether it would be a republic, Kingdom, Queendom, etc...

Support creation of a nation state on the principles of Esperanza

We should just call it "Esperanza" — [Mac Davis] (talk)

The Esperanzian Exarchate (local short form: Esperanzia) is a nation-state located in the Realm of the English Wikipedia, and subordinate to the Wikimedian Empire. Seven Councillors, collectively referred to as the Exarch, are democratically elected, and preside over the citizenry, all while adhering to a Charter. The principles of the philosophy Esperanza guide the nation, as do the statements of their far-off (In Florida) Emperor, User:Jimbo Wales...

South Park or Simpsons? or Futurama?

Anyone likes one of these amazing shows? Which one do you like most? Umm, I know its hard to choose, but.... Cheers -- Imoeng 10:19, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've really tried to like South Park again and again (mostly because my best friend really likes it), but I just don't really find poop jokes and gross-out humor funny no matter how hard I try. Simpsons is incredible, though... --nathanbeach 16:03, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oddly, Nazi Germany seems to be more popular than normal Germany, Wonder Woman is apparently more popular than Superman, and Hubbert peak theory, a slightly dull piece of economic theory, is more popular than both Linkin Park and Marilyn Manson! Mind you, the top entries are mainly lists because people are clicking on list items, then going back to the list for the next item, and so on.... smurrayinchester(User), (Talk) 21:22, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well...
1. Nazi Germany has had more of an impact (though a negative one) on history than modern Germany, mostly due to the horrific things they did during the World War II period (such as trying to conquer the world and exterminate races of people).
2. They are currently make a film on Wonder Woman; also Wonder Woman has more of a sex appeal than Superman.
3. The hubbert peak theory plays a major role in important current events and issues such as rising gas prices, world economy, enviromentalism and the Middle East.--TBCTaLk?!? 04:28, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pokémon was in the "news" lately because of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, and I think it's attained a kind of Mario-like status more than a regular old fad (like pogs). I think some of the games are quite good, especially the spin-off games (I've been addicted to Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire). After the spike, the rank's falling a bit now. —AySz88\^-^ 23:20, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Does anyone have any idea how user talkpages manage to get into the top 1000? For example, User talk:205.204.242.23 is at spot 996, and User talk:12.149.244.50 is at 619, as of right now? Picaroon9288talk 18:43, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Dunno. Maybe what i said above about the mysql database of Benutzer:LeonWeber is true. If i am wrong, than teachers at "Boyle County Schools" should be concerned about the issue. Pupils or students would be more focused on wikipedia vandalism than paying attention to their courses. -- Szvest 18:56, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can anyone recommend a funny book?

Hi all, my heart's rather burdened by various things, and I could really use something funny right now. Something to take my mind away from the troubles of the world. Thanks for the suggestions so far. Tentatively, I'm thinking of rereading either Kitchen Confidential or A Cook's Tour, both written by the chef and TV personality Anthony Bourdain. I had considered reading Tom Jones by Henry Fielding, because reviews on Amazon say that it's a hilarious book, but I looked at it in the store, and it's just so thick! I don't know if I want to engage my brain that much trying to make myself smile. I would nonetheless appreciate further suggestions that I can file away for future reference. --Tachikoma 13:43, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've read it too, it's awesome, but I don't know if I can reassure you about it. Speaking of which as wiki increasingly becomes more definitive and the first place people look for facts and as the information gets more viral as more people copy it, does anybody get the feeling that being a wikipedian is like working at the ministry of truth.
If you liked 1984 you might want to check out Animal Farm which is also very good. I also found the 1984 film version of the novel very good. I think it's one of Richard Burtons best roles.  YDAM TALK 14:01, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
