Hi Jim. Just to let you know that I've filed a dispute re the Royal Guernsey Light Infantry edit war. Your input would be welcome. Please check out the noticeboard.

Please read the section of Lucrezia's early life. I only edited the entry this way to draw the attention of an admin. Dave McDave?

    Update

Good morning, I don't understand what is the problem . Why are you reverting the information I have written in the page and I don't know what you are accusing me of . I have given two sources with the accurate information, Also , why are you vandalizing my updates ? There is the link with the number of applications . Please correct the information because you are given the wrong information to the public. A mistake in the citing is not vandalism. There is a difference! . Your mis-use of Huggle to revert proper edits

Why would you revert that edit? That you referred to here.

It was appropriate. What do you feel was non-constructive? Specifically? You failed to say. You reverted everything. You seriously felt everything was not appropriate? I can't believe it. Something? If so, what?

Are you sure you know how to use Huggle? Your revert made no sense.

Plus, your failure to leave a proper edit summary more specifically communicating your concern is a problem.

Thanks. --2604:2000:E016:A700:D435:12BC:3632:5DFD (talk) 05:23, 24 April 2017 (UTC) Hello, Jim How Are You, All I Did Was Correct The Date Of Birth In Article Of Lorrae Desmond As in The First Paragraph , Could You Please Refrain NASTY Comment, Kind Regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1.43.12.178 (talk) 06:19, 24 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Edit war

    Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Michael Del Zotto shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
I've reported your disruptive behavior to the administrator noticeboard and pinged you there. Please do give it a look. --140.32.16.52 (talk) 07:06, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Glutamate hypothesis of schizophrenia

The subsections I deleted are rather questionable, to say the least; I'll rewrite them in the future instead of simply deleting them. You reverted too far though; back to start of edits. There is good edits there and I'm going to go back to the revision where I added on info; but restore the large sections I just deleted. Changing the title and content

    @Jim1138:

I understand that Wikipedia page of Scandinavian Bunkering can not be deleted. Would it be possible to change the heading and content to a completely different one? Which means, in the URL https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scandinavian_Bunkering, Scandinavian_Bunkering should be changed to a different one.Faris ma (talk) 09:53, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Template:YoFaris ma Please leave Scandinavian Bunkering alone and create the article Glander International Bunkering. Please? Thank you Jim1138 (talk) 10:02, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Jim, I see you've reverted the user Masheenya on Cover Drive. Can you also revert them on Love.Live.Life? I've gone up to my three-revert limit there, but they have added unsourced content there as well and used a dead link to attempt to cover it up. Ss112 20:29, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the edit I on keep doing.

Don't quote Polygon, and the so called "critics" that made the articles regarding Persona 5's localization aren't even professionals. They are actually bunch of fan translators/amateurs when it comes to localization in games and most of them didn't even work on a single professional project. They were only making such articles just to grab some attention and potentially give them a real job in an official localization. The Persona 5 English localization has few clunky text but they are no where near as problematic has these people are making it to be. Most of the reviews from Metacritic don't even mention the faults and some even praised the localization effort. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JonCl (talkcontribs) 03:01, 26 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Salesforce Tower Criticism Section Deletion

It's frustrating that I am having difficulty removing a section clearly unsuitable for encyclopedic writing. Especially given that it blemishes an article of relative importance. Please consider vouching for its deletion. To spare you the trouble, here is a sentence by sentence rundown:

    1. "Pelli's design for the Transbay Tower has been subject to significant criticism due as its oblong shape and relatively underwhelming design compared to other proposals by architects such as SOM and Richard Rogers." "Relatively underwhelming" by academic consensus? Purely the writer's opinion, unsupported by the citation provided.
    2. "Despite the tower not being completed, San Francisco Curbed readers rated Salesforce Tower as one of the 20 ugliest buildings in the city". Cites a post from a blogging network, hardly an encyclopedic source. The blog does not elaborate on their methodology for ranking the "ugliest" buildings in San Francisco."
    3. "Many also noted their disappointment that the tower, built on formerly state-owned land and claiming the highest elevation point in San Francisco, does not have a public viewing deck." "Many" is a weasel-word. The citation does confirm that the tower lacks a public viewing deck. This is perhaps the only relevant information that could be included in a future revision of the criticism section.
    4. "Satirical blogs have also ridiculed the tower for its 'provocative' shape." Cites a blog-post on medium, potentially self-published.

I urge you, in the interest of maintaining a minimum standard of quality, to delete the section as it's currently written. 69.181.43.224 (talk) 05:07, 26 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    edit to pride and prejudice

in response to your message: The page was prefaced with "This article's plot summary may be too long or excessively detailed. Please help improve it by removing unnecessary details and making it more concise. (September 2016)"

Hi Jim, After you reverted my edits to the Media Freedom in Russia page, I thought to look at some of the other edits discussed on your talk page. I looked at this sequence of edits, and I don't understand why you reverted it and keep reverting. It looks like it was a good edit to me that corrected some wrong info (and eventually sourced it) and also removed vandalism. 176.38.121.62 (talk) 13:53, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    media freedom in Russia article

Hi, Jim, I'm not a regular Wikipedia editor, but, as I explained in my comment no the edit, I removed that section from the media freedom article because it isn't reporting a violation of media freedom. (The government doesn't even seem to have been involved. And NTV's programming was not suppressed.) Also, more generally, this article is too long. Even some of the items in it that actually do report possible violations of media freedom should probably be removed.

Also, I noticed you reverted my other edit. But the reason I gave in my comment on that edit was also accurate. For instance, the article says,

"At least 54 people were sent to prison for hate speech last year, most of them for sharing and posting things online, which is almost five times as many as five years ago, according to the Moscow-based Sova group, which studies human rights, nationalism and xenophobia in Russia ... Alexander Verkhovsky, director of the Sova group, says roughly half of the convictions of hate speech online are about posts on VKontakte ... Many of the hate speech convictions do deal with dubious content, but the severity of the punishment doesn't seem to correspond to the level of public danger posed, said Verkhovsky of Sova."

    In Wikipedia, this became,

"In 2016 alone, at least 54 were convicted and imprisoned for merely reposting or "liking" memes on the social network VK which were classified as "extremist" by the FSB and courts despite their almost universal trivial and humorous character."

    Also, the article says,

"He had shared the picture of a toothpaste tube and also an article under the headline "Crimea is Ukraine" by a controversial blogger, who is in jail now, calling for military aggression against Russia."

But Wikipedia leaves out the second part (as does, to its discredit, the first paragraph of the source).

"For example, Andrei Bubayev was jailed for two years for reposting a picture of a toothpaste tube with the words "squeeze Russia out of yourself"."

    176.38.121.62 (talk) 12:33, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please, then fix the article content to more correctly reflect the article. Don't just delete it. Jim1138 (talk) 21:40, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your comment does not respond to my edit of the NTV thing. As for the Bubayev thing, I agree that this more of a grey area. What was there severely misrepresented what was in the source (and the source itself may have been biased). Moreover, the article is already overly long and in many places seems to have an anti-Russian bias, even though it is very easy to make the case that the press in Russia is not very free without being biased an thereby risking losing credibility. So, it seemed to me that the ordering of options from best to worst was 1. delete, 2. rewrite, 3. flag, 4. leave as is. Reverting my edit effectively gives us option 4. Now, I realize that you might order things differently and in particular put "rewrite" as number 1, but you should still agree that "leave as is" is the worst option in this case (?). 176.38.121.62 (talk) 23:03, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Go ahead and remove the NTV; I can't make much of the machine translation. Per the Bubayev, rewrite would be the best option. It seems to be a significant event. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 23:16, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Cool. I removed the NTV thing. As for Bubayev, the source says,

"In February 2014, when Ukraine was in the middle of a pro-European revolution, President Vladimir Putin signed a bill tightening penalties for non-violent extremist crimes such as hate speech. In July of that year, three months after Russia had annexed the Crimean Peninsula, he signed a bill making calls "to destroy" Russia's territorial integrity a criminal offense punishable by up to five years in prison. The new amendment makes the denial of Russia's claims on Crimea an even greater offense if the statement is made in the press or online, even on a private social media account."

I think it is very significant, if true, that Russia passed a law making it a crime to deny their claim on Crimea. But I haven't yet found another source to back this up, and I don't feel comfortable just trusting the source, which seems to have an anti-Russian bias. Have you found more information on this law/amendment? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.38.121.62 (talk) 00:17, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The Associated Press is considered a wp:reliable source (RS). The article is also mirrored/appears to be mirrored in other RS sites.

Yeah, I don't see how it's not constructive. Safeway Inc isn't part of Safeway Canada.

Safeway has fuel stations at some stores. Following the acquisition of the chain by Sobeys, ten Safeway gas stations in Winnipeg and Moose Jaw were renovated and re-launched as Shell gas stations as part of a pilot project. The locations remain operated by Sobeys, but use fuel supplied by Shell and have access to the Air Miles program; Sobeys also operates Shell-branded gas stations in Quebec and Atlantic Canada.[40][41]

This talks about Safeway Canada, Safeway Canada isn't part of Safeway, Inc. They are two separate companies, this should be on the Safeway Canada page not the Safeway Inc page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Coloradoweatherdude (talkcontribs) 09:13, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Coloradoweatherdude: Please don't use bolding on someone's talk page. It is irritating. I really don't care who owns whom or what is on the Safeway page - as long as it goes per wp:policy and wp:MOS. If you remove content, especially wp:citations, use an wp:edit summary to explain your reason so that others don't have to guess why it was removed. Using a "register for your gas rewards" page is wp:spam and a wp:primary source. Please use a secondary or tertiary source; i.e. wp:reliable source. See wp:cite for information on creating a citation. If you would like some help formatting, please ask at the wp:teahouse, my hours are quite variable. The meaning of the title may be different

The term "Tum hi ho"means "only you are". Because there is a lyric in the song that Kyun ki Tum hi ho... I think it meant because only you are If you don't mind, you can leave a reply. Nokib Sarkar (talk)

@Nokib Sarkar: The problem was you left a malformed image (a bad link) in the wp:infobox here. Check your work with wp:Show preview, please. Don't do tests on "live" articles. See wp:images for info. Thank you Jim1138 (talk) 09:53, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
BTW: on Wikipedia, avoid having a space as the first character on a line. It generates strange formatting. Jim1138 (talk) 09:54, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Jim1138:I was going to upload the file. So... Nokib Sarkar (talk) 10:06, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Nokib Sarkar: If you upload an image, it must be yours to release. Coping an image from the web is verboten - a wp:copyright violation and is strongly frowned upon. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 10:11, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Michelle Rodriguez page updates

Hi! I'm not sure why I received a COI notice, when all of my edits on the Michelle Rodriguez page have been sourced and/or entirely within Wiki guidelines. Nothing I've added is commentary, and it's all neutral. I'm simply cleaning up a page that was a mess. It's been been outdated, with gossip references, and a TON of extraneous and repetitive information for quite some time. Note, I was also considering switching out some of the photos for more updated/relevant images as well, but I'll try to ask some other users to contribute on that front, if that will help alleviate concerns. My article on how the wage gap is fake is backed up by these cites(view if you'd like):

    • See on bottom of page: Opinions expressed by Forbes Contributors are their own. i.e. not a reliable source per wp:BLOGS
    • This simply states that women don't make as much as men because they are not working at high paying jobs. I would agree with that. However, if women can't get the job, or for the most part, don't try because they know they won't get the job, then that argument is misleading.

Hi! Thanks for explaining. I have decided that atleast I'm not going to omit काशी हिन्दू विश्वविद्यालय as it is the official name in Hindi language used both by the university & the Government of India. Also I think that non-Hindi people will not have any problem as it is the name (which was given to the university on its foundation day itself) and not a translation. In addition to that many debates have taken place regarding the name in the Parliament of India itself, & the name remains. I don't know that whether you are interested or not, still I'm going to tell you. Devanagari is a script & Sanskrit a language. Also, Sanskrit has no, and never had, any script of its own. Devanagari is the popular script used for writing Sanskrit in northern part of India while in southern states it is written in any of the Dravidian language scripts as Tamil, Telugu etc. Even in north, different local language-scripts are used for Sanskrit. Devanagari is also used for Hindi, the language in which "काशी हिन्दू विश्वविद्यालय" is written. Sorry for this long answer. Thanks again, and for Raebareli too. I see your argument, you are correct. However I never intended to vandalize the article. Now my question is: how do I talk to someone who tells me a certain thing on my talk page? Am I not supposed to talk on their (now yours) page? The other use accused me pretty directly about vandalism and then also about putting something on his talk page. The concept "Cognitive computing

Dear Jim, could you please edit the concept "cognitive computing" by adding the following description:

    Teaching courses

In 2003 Xuelong Li has designed and delivered a new course named 'Cognitive Computing' (Module Code: COM847M1) at the School of Computing and Intelligent Systems of the Ulster University. This could be for the first time to set up a 'Cognitive Computing' course in an IT department. After having moved to the University of London in 2004, Xuelong Li proposed to found the technical committee of Cognitive Computing with the IEEE SMC Society in January 2008, and Xuelong Li defined the scope of 'Cognitive Computing' (in 2008) as 'Cognitive Computing breaks the traditional boundary between neuroscience and computer science, and paves the way for machines that will have reasoning abilities analogous to a human brain. It's an interdisciplinary research and application field, and uses methods from psychology, biology, signal processing, physics, information theory, mathematics, and statistics. The development of Cognitive Computing will cross-fertilize these other research areas with which it interacts. There are many open problems to be addressed and to be defined. This technical committee tackles these problems in both academia and industry, and focuses on new foundations/technologies that are intrinsic to Cognitive Computing.'

    Wrong American Pickers episodes!

Hi Jim, Your putting wrong information about American Pickers episodes. The History channel schedule is often wrong, Mikes bikes is a rerun from season 1 episode 8. This is not a new episode. I usually update the episodes but haven't bothered to login when I do it so you'll see my ip on 99% of the changes in this episode. It becomes a real mess if everybody puts whats on the schedule when it's wrong. Thanks Bob — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bob.altamont (talkcontribs) 07:24, 03 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    question on redirects

Hello, here I am again.. with a stupid question! I noticed that bloodstream infections (here is the page where you see the redirect: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Blood_Stream_Infection&redirect=no ) is a page that "redirects" to "bacteremia. Now I do not understand this! A blood stream infection can be a bacteremia but it can also be a fungemia or a viremia or even a protozoa. So I was thinking to change this problem by requesting to remove the redirect from bloodstream infection to bacteremia and write a short page on bloodstream infections (and in that page links to the different types of bloodstream infections). However I do not really understand how to do this. I found this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion with How to list a redirect for discussion , but not sure how it works with How to list a redirect for discussion. Sorry to bother you with this , but the tutorial is not very obvious for me. Garnhami (talk) 21:14, 5 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Update: I actually found this:when should be delete a redirect , and here it states: Listing is not necessary if you just want to replace a redirect with an article, or change where it points

If I understand it correctly, does this mean I can edit the bloodstream page without really warning someone? (I mean, write some stuff about bloodstream infections and remove the redirect (and replace it with several links on that page to eg fungemia, bacteremia and so on..? ) Garnhami (talk) 21:19, 5 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Garnhami: That is a seldom-used redirect. You can view the page statistics on the wp:page history or here. There is about one or two views per week. So few if anyone will notice your edits. If you wish to take your time editing the page, you can use your sandbox (link at top right of any page while you are logged in) or an other sandbox such as user:Garnhami/Blood Stream Infection (it's a wp:redlink as the page has yet to be created). When you feel comfortable posting it, request that the page be moved. See wp:moving a page. Per CC BY-SA 3.0 license, the page history must be preserved, so they would need to be merged. I believe a fairly simple task for this case. It may take a week. Again, given the low view count, having the page incomplete is probably irrelevant. BTW: Is there another title for that subject that may already exist? Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 22:32, 5 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ok! Thanks a lot! Now I have one more question, I have been editing some articles, one in particular, however I noticed that I am always editing small things, one by one (to keep the overview). I do wonder: could I just cope paste the whole article to my sandbox and then when I made ALL the edits (which might take some time to do) just cope paste this back into the original article? (of course, I would keep track on other, major, edits in the article and include those as well).Or is this not possible ? Garnhami (talk) 15:17, 6 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding to Editing of "Chinese as an official language"

I have read that you reserved a revision on an article about "Chinese as an official language".

The following are the reasons as to why I removed some statements from the page.

    1. It is not completely true that "since the mid-1990s... (there is) a massive following of Hong Kong pop culture." The massive following of Hong Kong pop-culture could be true during the 1990s and early-2000s (or even during mid-2000s), especially Hong Kong drama and songs were popular at that time. However, the popularity of Hong Kong pop-culture faded close to year 2010. Since then, Korean pop-culture became fervent in Singapore.

    2. It is completely false that "Cantonese (is) even being taught as an elective language in many schools." Most of the schools in Singapore are under the Ministry of Education, which is a Ministry under the Government of Singapore. Government schools in Singapore do not offer any non-Mandarin Chinese topolects as elective languages or subjects.

Generally, ethnic Chinese in Singapore take Mandarin as their "Mother-Tongue" subject regardless of their "dialect group" (e.g. Hokkien, Teochew, Cantonese, etc). The Government of Singapore discouraged the use of non-Mandarin Chinese topolects since the end of 1970s and does not allow non-Mandarin Chinese topolects to be taught in government schools.

There was a reference to "Chua, Beng Huat: Life is Not Complete Without Shopping: Consumption Culture in Singapore" to prove that Cantonese is taught as a language elective in government schools. I do not have access to the book since the reference does not provide any hyperlink to any online version of the book. However, as a Singaporean of Cantonese Chinese descent who went through education system in Singapore, I know that no non-Mandarin Chinese topolects, including Cantonese, are taught as elective languages or subjects in Singapore.

    3. Please re-do the revision after reading my explanation. If you have any questions, please post it on your page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.127.130.72 (talk) 05:04, 6 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This page sounds more like an advert / press release than a Wikipedia article, and was probably written by the subject and/or his friends. It should either be taken off or rewritten in a more neutral tone.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryan_Loo

    E.g.

    1) 'He is one of the youngest successful entrepreneurs in Malaysia.[3]'

The only source for this is a random blog written in terrible English.

    2) Loob Holding was founded in 2010[4] and is one of the prominent players in the local food and beverage scene with the mind-set to revolutionise the industry.

    3) It wasn’t his choice to pursue a career path as a biochemist as his passion and interest was to become an entrepreneur in Malaysia. When Bryan quit his job, he told his father that he wanted to start his own business. They travelled overseas to five to six different trade shows to see the businesses that they could possibly start. Eventually, Bryan decided that he wanted to head into the Food & Beverage (F&B) business with his father's encouragement and guidance [8]

    4) While he has a cool image and sociable demeanour, do not underestimate the deception of the founder of Loob Holding Sdn Bhd. With a passion for mentoring upcoming business talents, he has expanded his F&B Empire from a start-up into a small medium enterprise, spanning franchise outlets and dining establishments. He is also a notable influencer on social media.

    And so on.

I would agree. Much of the article is about the Loob Holdings, which is rather off-topic. I removed a few things, but it needs lots of work. Do you think that Brian Loo meets wp:Notability (people)? Should it be nominated for an wp:article for deletion? Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 19:59, 10 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    @BueyScott: Per wp:V, your wp:reliable source? Jim1138 (talk) 07:37, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Do you not keep up/read about what is going on in the world? Federal crime statistics showed that same claim made in USA to be false. The article used as "proof" in the entry has no valdation. It is "reported" as in people make accusations but actual numbers, validated by investigations, shows it to not match the claim. (that was my point that received a petulant/threatening response) The way the Wiki entry is made tries/attempts to make it out that 1 in 5 is being raped or something and that is not the case. There is a difference between accusations and actual cases that are shown to have happened. On top of that, and most importantly, sexual harassment is so loosely defined most anything is considered that, and neither instance is the same as sexual assault/rape. Sexual harassment is not the same as sexual assault. Again, I would like for Wiki to just be honest. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BueyScott (talkcontribs) 11:45, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    @BueyScott: The wp:BURDEN is on you to wp:cite a wp:reliable source. Jim1138 (talk) 17:50, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Then the BURDEN should be on you to not allow false statements on that page, as I have pointed out. Or is it that it's OK to just post whatever, state it dogmatically, use an opinion claiming it as validated fact and it's no problem as long as it fits the narrative? FYI- opinion articles are NOT fact references. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BueyScott (talkcontribs) 02:19, 14 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Hi there,

I tried to provide a source which was actually the article on the Supreme Court decision found as one of the top stories on the home page of the India Times at the time. There may be more reliable sources, but the facts I mentioned can be found in other sources. The best thing to do is probably to find more sources for these statements, rather than remove the introduction and citation altogether. Now the article stands without a proper introduction for readers unfamiliar with the topic, which is probably most. 171.118.55.206 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 17:30, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jim, did you read the deleted references? The reference article does not state that anywhere that FC was a "large undertaking, low payoff" undertaking or that it missed its sales goal. The whole section falsely implies FC was a failure. FC is the best selling JRPG on steam! Furthermore that is not the FC page. - Woofenstein (talk) 10:26, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
