MILF pornography (acronym of "Mother I'd Like/Love to Fuck") is a genre of pornography in which the actresses are usually women ages 30 to 50, though many actresses have started making this type of pornographic films at age 25.[2] Central to the typical MILF narrative is an age-play dynamic of older women and younger lovers, both males and female.[3] A related term is cougar, which implies an older woman as predator.[4]

Overview

The MILF pornography genre is a growing segment of the sex industry, and it has extended the careers of female pornographic actresses.[5] Actresses of the MILF porn genre have their own awards: the XRCO "MILF of the Year Award",[6][7] the AVN "MILF/Cougar Performer of the Year Award",[8] and the Urban X Award for "Best MILF Performer" among others.[9] In Japan, Adult Broadcasting Awards also has an award for the "Best Mature Actress".[10]

In the UK, the term yummy mummy is used as well as MILF. The Oxford Dictionary defines the term as "an attractive and stylish young mother".[11]

History

The term itself was first documented in Internet newsgroups during the 1990s.[12] The earliest known online reference is a 1995 Usenet post about a Playboy pictorial of attractive mothers.[4] It was popularized by the 1999 film American Pie referring to Jennifer Coolidge's character, "Stifler's mom".[13][14]

The term MILF was popularized by the 1999 film American Pie. Actor John Cho first uttered the word when referring to Jennifer Coolidge's character, "Stifler's mom".[13]

The concept of a MILF predates the term itself, as exemplified by Mrs. Robinson in the 1967 comedy classic The Graduate.[15]

The Fountains of Wayne selection "Stacy's Mom," the video for which starred Rachel Hunter, described a similar such fixation in its lyrics.
