Congradulations - I think

On reaching one million edits! Jim1138 (talk) 07:30, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I am always glad to see you around and active. I've had to reduce my wikitime recently. Materialscientist (talk) 10:47, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The cavalry coming over the hill often seems to be you! Thanks for all your work. I hope things are OK for you. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 01:33, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The article first states that Afghans in Pakistan are refugees, but then states that there are also a small number of students, diplomats and businesspeople who are not refugees. This is contradictory. I've changed it to state that Afghans in Pakistan primarily constitute refugees, but also include small numbers of students, diplomats, and businesspeople thus removing the contradiction. --110.93.236.75 (talk) 13:33, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You protected this page before. The persistent fabrication by IP's (with some agenda I can't identify) hasn't stopped. Can you protect it again? Srnec (talk) 03:54, 30 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Opinion before an edit gets to 3R

Hi Materialscientist, if you find a moment, please take a look at an issue over linking a term to a list page rather that a page specifically about the term, here, discussion about it here and here and a note I left to the other editor here. If the other editor reverts again, I have no intension of pursuing the matter, as reverting to point to the list would be a case of WP:DWIP/ having the last word, so, an exercise in futility. Thanks for your time and any help. Regards, Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 10:10, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Editing User talk:68.69.141.39 (section)

Neustadt, Ontario has long been referred to as one of Ontario's prettiest villages in Harrowsmith Magazine...and the Wikipedia article already refers to this and for years it was quoted correctly....THEN someone some time ago went onto the Wikipedia page and changed the word Prettiest to Sketchiest in an attempt to defame and insult our village (yes I am a Resident), so they are the ones responsible for changing the wording from a quoted source without a reference. I am merely trying to restore the page back to the way it should be quoted -the way the article was originally done. There is something wrong with Wikipedia if people can go on and make slanderous changes to articles and then people like you defend them from those of us who just want them to remain true and correct. Maybe you should go back to the quoted article and read it for yourself, so as to be sure what has been written is correct in the first place.

(talk page stalker) I highly doubt that it was called the sketchiest place for having gothic revival architecture so I've changed it back. Galobtter (talk) 02:33, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you said that I recently made a disliked edit to "Brain Thrust MAstery". I did no such thing and have never even heard of Brain Thrust MAstery before. Thank you

Changes to Eric Schaeffer

Hello,

I received a message that you removed all of my recent changes because I did not cite a reputable source or something to that effect? I am Eric Schaeffer. I made the changes to my own Wiki page. I am the source. I made the films and TV shows that I added as an update to my Wiki page. What do you need from me in order to replace the editing I did that you removed? Thank you, Eric Schaeffer

Help reviewing article?

Hi,

I'm Ed Sussman. I noticed you recently made some small edits to the MSNBC page. I wonder if you'd mind taking a look at my rewrite of the stub of MSNBC president Phil Griffin. It's now drafted as a fuller article here: Talk:Phil Griffin.

I'm a fairly experienced Wikipedia editor (not like you, though) and try to abide by the five pillars. Here I have a conflict of interest as a consultant to NBC News, so I need to have my proposed edits independently reviewed. If you can find the time, I'd be very appreciative.

Thanks,

Help in resolving a issue

Hi, this is regarding the page N. Chandrababu Naidu. Properly sourced content is being removed by a user. The information which the user removed is valid and it was covered extensively by mainstream media. Need your expertise in resolving this. Some of the edits are:

Vandalism?

How is my commenting on the driving standard of parents of children who attend Lowther hall vandalism?

There's multiple photos providing evidence (which have been refrained from adding thus far) of their stupid behaviour on the roads so please define the use of the word vandalism as you politely put it? Also.. unconstructive???

Have you ever lived near or watched the driving behaviour of parents consistently flouting the road rules? A child may die soon and you want to call the edits vandalism/ unconstructive for speaking the truth?

Flip-u-too (talk) 13:35, 11 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) Have you tried calling the school? The police? Talking to the offending parents? Local authorities? The thing is, an encyclopeadia is not the place to report motoring law violations, why on earth did you think it was a good idea? -Roxy the dog. barcus 14:02, 11 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Given an encyclopedia is a book or set of books giving information on many subjects I feel this is just as topical as the schools history, or their construction works, or the house thats on the property, or how their classes are graded... they're all topical subjects directly relating to the school, how are they not? I didn't report motor violations, I gave examples of inappropriate driving behaviour consistent with the schools demographic.

Before you coment do you actually have anything to do with the school? Do you know what the roads are like? Do you not think the police have better things to resolve? I have tried the council and they are making it harder than necessary and turn the other way.. connections maybe? Parents become aggressive and the school is polite however they can't/ wont control what happens outside their gates.

They're very broad suggestions you make so I'm leaning towards you not actually knowing about the issue itself.. just my thoughts as to why on earth it's a good idea xx

No worries. I promise that unless you find independent reliable sources WP:RS to support what you want to write, it wont go in this encyclopeadia. -Roxy the dog. barcus 23:13, 11 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Dear Flip-u-too I'm sorry but you are absolutely barking up the wrong tree here in the clearest way imaginable. This is not a social campaigning site or a blog or Facebook or local news or anything else that can help you with this. Whilst we might as individuals care about your road safety concern, as an encyclopaedia we really don't care at all - your suggested content is so wildly unencyclopaedic that it just will not receive a moment's consideration, because it does not deserve it. People who turn up here to campaign on issues almost never do well - if they can't understand what we are doing here, they will either give up and go away or get blocked quite soon, because their crusade is so badly at odds with our purpose. You might want to read WP:GREATWRONGS which tries to explain this. But whatever happens, your content is not going to go in without reliable sources to support it AND a consensus from other editors that it is notable, worthwhile content. Sorry, but you are simply in the wrong place for what you are currently attempting. Wikipedia is not your platform. Best wishes DBaK (talk) 00:09, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Back and vandalizing again

Materialscientist, you blocked IP 73.169.135.60 for 61 days back in September for serial vandalizing: a specialty seems to be falsifying dates and other information in articles. I just gave them a final warning, not realizing that this was a habit with them; further checking shows this edit changing the dates of the 2010 Winter Olympics to be 2014 dates.

I'm leaving the evidence up for most of these, though I've changed back one of the Strictly Come Dancing articles and I'm about to revert on the other unless someone beats me to it. Thanks for anything you can do, hopefully by making the block significantly longer than two months this time. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:37, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I forgot you weren't around at this time of day, so I've reported the IP to WP:AN/V, since the vandalism is continuing despite the new talk-page warnings, and a lot of damage could be done in the next several hours before you typically return. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:50, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Haha I bet you to it. Also did my best to remove whatever vandalism he had done. Galobtter (talk) 18:51, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Not a problem, Galobtter. Thanks for reporting it. Glad this IP is gone for six months this time. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:53, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked user

Hi! I noticed that you had blocked Miakalo as violating editing guidelines, however this is a new user and I didn't see where they'd edited previously. They're also a student in an online class with Tulane University and Wiki Education and as far as I can tell, this is the first time the student has ever done anything with Wikipedia. The only thing I can figure is that they may be on an IP that has had some people vandalizing on it. If that's the case then it's most likely a university IP.

Can you unblock the student? They need the account for class and given the situation I'm hesitant to suggest that they get a new account. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:40, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
