TXT (/ˈt-ˈɛks-ˈt/ TEE-eks-tee; Korean투모로우바이투게더; RRTumoroubaitugedeo; lit. Tomorrow by Together), short for Tomorrow X Together, is a five-member South Korean boy band formed by Big Hit Entertainment. The group consists of members Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Huening Kai. They debuted on March 4, 2019 with the EP The Dream Chapter: Star. The group’s name, TXT, is an acronym standing for "Tomorrow X Together".

Name

The group’s name, TXT, is an acronym standing for "Tomorrow X Together".[2] In Korean, the group name is "투모로우바이투게더 (RR: Tumoroubaitugedeo)",[3] or the words "tomorrow by together" transliterated into Hangul. The band's complete English name is said like its Korean version.[4]

History

Plans for a second boy group from Big Hit Entertainment were announced by founder Bang Si-hyuk as early as 2017[5] and a date for early 2019 set in November 2018.[6] TXT was officially revealed on January 10, 2019.[7][8] Over the next ten days, YouTube videos depicting each member, dubbed "introduction films", were released.[9]

A debut broadcast for the group was aired on Mnet and its YouTube page, and was announced along with the band's debut extended play, The Dream Chapter: Star.[10] A debut showcase, held at the Yes24 Live Hall on March 5.[11] Following the release of the EP, the music video of their debut single, "Crown" broke the record for the most viewed K-Pop debut music video within 24 hours for a boy group.[12]

A week after the release of their album, the group debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Emerging Artists, World Albums, and World Digital Song Sales chart and debuted at No. 140 on the Billboard 200 chart for the first time, making them the fastest K-Pop group to appear in the charts and highest-charting debut album by any male K-pop group.[13]
