deleting this page

hello angus, can u please help me delete this page "richard rudd"? I cannot find a feature to do it and I am not qualified to do it. thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thegenekeys (talkcontribs) 06:58, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I can request deletion and use this message as the reason. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:37, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thegenekeys, there is another editor Margajee who has recreated the draft Draft:Richard Rudd AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:32, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please re-review my draft

Please review my draft ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Gurudev_GD_Vashist_Astrologer ) . I do the needful changes as per your requirement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Helloajnabi (talkcontribs) 06:18, 21 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Helloajnabi, the article doesn't explain how he is Wikipedia notable. It doesn't explain what "Lal kitab" and "Gurumantra" are. Also there are no year ranges to explain his career or his popularity in the society. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:40, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

DRAFT: TMRW

I've worked with the company to update this page Draft:TMRW per your edits. Would you mind taking a look and letting us know if we've sufficiently addressed the issues? Thank you. --LM TMRW (talk) 19:25, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

LM TMRW, please note the most recent AFC review / rejection. The article is sourced mainly by press releases and interviews, and hardly any external news sources independent of the subject. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:42, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Public Warning - Location Based SMS

You have reviewed this page which I created today and have given feedback. The article is not connected to SMS for Marketing - that is a very different topic.. I have used references and third parties.. so not sure why this article isn't meeting the rules... — Preceding unsigned comment added by EBKJG (talkcontribs) 16:01, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It might be better to redirect it to Location-based service AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:31, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

EBKJG (talk) 13:20, 10 October 2019 (UTC) Hi - the subject matter for this article is very different to location based service. Therefore the redirect is not appropriate. I fail to see how the content of my draft does not meet the requirements for Wikipedia. Can you be more specific in your recommendations? You can see that I have clearly used references, citations all of which are independent and notable. I await your response. — Preceding unsigned comment added by EBKJG (talkcontribs) [reply]

EBKJG, you should have a History section on how it came about, its features and standardization/adoption. A lot of the article is written as if it were from a magazine article or essay. It also needs to be balanced in tone and include disadvantages and drawbacks. See also to other similar communications methods. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:46, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding this, see what I stated here on Popcornduff's talk page and what Popcornduff stated.

I understand what you mean, but the editor did move it to draft space. So the editor can work on it in draft space. We should take a "wait and see" approach. Also, before it's redirected, it needs to be moved back to main space so that the edit history and talk page history are preserved. Draft space material is eventually deleted unless it's something like Talk:Star Wars: The Last Jedi/Archive audience response, which preserved the talk page. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 06:23, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Flyer22 Reborn, up to you, but I've seen it submitted to draft multiple times, which is where it's been in contention. You might want to recreate the redirect and have it tagged with R with possibilities or salted. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 07:03, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
When it's recreated, I will ping all of the editors (meaning you included) who commented on whether or not the article should exist, and note that we are now assessing this new incarnation. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 07:08, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Sir... I have written about Narendra Singh Dhami that he is a Nepalease author then I have also provided 3 or 4 URL (source) of his books, written by Narendra Singh Dhami that you can check. What can be the better and reliable source to prove about author then a Books ? Please Check the Books and you may search on Google 'Narendra Singh Dhami Books' then you will see..I think you are checking only one link. It isn't enough to provide the URL's of book to prove about author of the book.Sorry but iam tired of Wikipedia service, you can search about Narendra Singh Dhami on Google to know is he notable or not . People are buying his books everywhere in the word...his books are available on Both formats digital and Hardcover.

Now I think I have explained why the article about Narendra Singh Dhami should be accepted.

Please Please Please Check all the sources provided, and search about Narendra Singh Dhami on Google,he is already verified on Google.

Doxxing

Hi Angus, I genuinely don't want to cause any gried for you about this, because I absolutely agree with your concerns about the editing in this case, but you might want to quickly re-read WP:DOX. This applies to all editors, even vandals, self-publicists and spam merchants - if the information hasn't been posted on-wiki, we mustn't use it onwiki to link accounts to real identities. An admin has revdelled a couple of your recent edits to my talk page - I wanted to give you a heads up in case there are other steps you need to take. Feel free to remove this message once you've read it, of course. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 20:39, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Girth Summit, my concern is when there is possible undisclosed paid editing because it is advertising. When I look up the username in general or see that the username is related to the person (shares exact same name, shares last name), what is the right tagging to place there? COI? UDP? Autobio? or nothing? for Autobio, if they write the same info on their user page, can it stay tagged as such? AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:12, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
AngusWOOF, I share your concerns, but if you look at WP:COI, I think about the fourth paragraph down, it's pretty explicit - do not post identities. If you follow the link breadcrumbs, you have to report to COIN and to ask a functionary to examine the evidence in private. I think in this particular case, the COI doesn't seem to me to be crucially important at this stage - the draft and sourcing are so poor that they will never be published in their current state, regardless of the author's identity. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 21:21, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Girth Summit, okay, I will post to COIN if I feel like I need to question if anyone's username is connected to the subject and it is not declared right away. Can I still assume that if the username and the subject are the same, they can be autobio tagged or just punt that to COIN? AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:26, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
AngusWOOF, my understanding is that if it's posted on wiki you can talk about it - so, if their username or something on their user page that gives rise to suspicions, then you're fine, but if it's something off wiki, even if it's someone's Twitter account, blog and Facebook page all saying 'I edit Wikipedia under the name Girth Summit', then you need to reach for a Checkuser or similar before mentioning anything about it. Hope that makes sense. GirthSummit (blether) 21:36, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Girth Summit, got it. Thanks. If they add references on Wikipedia itself to such twitter accounts, then I suppose it's fair game but it has to be done on their side to show they are self-disclosing they edit on Wikipedia. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:47, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
AngusWOOF, exactly - if they post through their wiki account that such and such a Twitter account is theirs, then of course you can mention because they've made the connection - but not if it's the other way around. (And for good reason - if ever someone claims to be me on a Twitter and Facebook account, they are trolling me, cos I've got neither!) GirthSummit (blether) 21:51, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Malcolm waters article declined

Hi sir or madam, I am Jaden7667, the person who created Malcolm Waters, I don’t know why you decline it. So please can you also explain why my article should be merged with Cathay Pacific. Jaden7667 Jaden7667 (talk) 17:09, 2 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Jaden7667, see my comment on the draft. He needs independent notability besides the single event. If that has made him a celebrity as with Sully, then expand on that part of his life. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 17:36, 2 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

AFC Declined

Hi @AngusWOOF I am currently confused by your reasoning, If you can please share some more details. I see that this is on Wikipedia as well? How come the Wikipedia policies are being overlooked for certain articles? for eg :- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time2

Also if you can share what exactly I would need in terms of sources that would be appreciated. My sincere apologies, my intention is not to be rude but I'm confused. I had never submitted an afc before so your help will be much appreciated and if you can also share what does time 2 has that my article didn't have for approval that will be much useful. Thanks & Regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 185.46.211.242 (talk) 08:32, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

185.46.211.242, the main issues are that you've described a very generic business organization that does not show how it is uniquely notable for Wikipedia. You've written only three lines about the organization:
  • "A decade old digital marketing firm currently active." - which decade? specify year founded and by whom? where is this situated? what do they do?
  • "Raises funds for charity as well from time to time with the networking events." - so what? lots of organizations raise funds and have networking events
  • "For article I've shared below the links which can be used to authenticate and validate their presence on Wikipedia." - half of the links are coming from the organization itself, press releases or interviews. You need secondary news sources that are independent of the subject, not primary social media sources. They also need to support the statements that you make about the company, not just be piled at the end of the article.

Questions on recently rejected article

Hi @AngusWOOF,

You recently review my article [1] and rejected it. I had a few questions related to it so that i could improve the article: 1. "This still reads like a resume": Will it help if i add personal life and education and club all the important events of the subject life under career? I looked into similar articles on defense subjects and this seems to the trend in all these articles 2. Praising the subject: Can you point out a few examples which led you to say so? I can edit these so that they are in line to Wiki policy. 3. Needs more external news sources to show neutrality: I have posted references 1-29 on the subject from reputed Indian news papers. I would also like to point out that these references have been checked by previous approves and they had no issue on neutrality and or need of more external sources. I think 25 odd references should be adequate. Please let me know otherwise.--Manas.chafekar (talk) 14:24, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Manas.chafekar, 1) why are you adding "clubs" and "education" like a section? Why are there "Important milestones"? That would make it appear even more like a resume. Education can go in the early career section and Personal life section can come afterwards in a separate section. 2. Praising the subject. The sections pertaining to his "accomplishments" are worded in presenting the subject in a glowing / praising light. Stuff like over-explaining the conditions that he landed in and how he successfully landed. That he supervised different groups or logged thousands of hours / years of experience is also a resume stuffer. The section needs to be written to be more of a biography that walks through his career and events that make him notable. 3) There are a number of sources that are coming from his own writings. Those should be minimized as they are primary and self-published sources. For the purposes of notability, you should highlight the best WP:THREE on the comments / talk page from news sources that show he is notable. Most importantly, I am concerned about the overall conflict of interest as your username implies that you may be connected to the subject. It really needs to be neutralized in tone, and balanced as not everything he has done is praiseworthy. If he's made some high profile mistakes or drew criticism, that has to be included too. Request on 23:59:43, 5 October 2019 for assistance on AfC submission by Chrisorban

My article on the STEMcoding Project was declined. I have declared the potential conflict of interest on my user page. The official reason it was declined was because "This is referenced heavily by primary sources from the schools and supporting organizations."

Of the 39 references there only 7 that are affiliated with either Ohio State University or the University of Mount Union. All the other references, including hourofcode.com, the Partnership for the Integration of Computation into Undergraduate Physics, the Physics Education Research Conference and the American Instiute of Physics Meggers Award, the American Journal of Physics are external organizations to either Ohio State or Mount Union.

I am not sure how to describe a project run by professors at Ohio State University and the University of Mount Union without providing a handful of links hosted at either Mount Union or Ohio State University. Would the article have gotten through if there were only 6 links out of 39 that were OSU or Mount Union? 5 links? 4 links?

I am very new to editing wikipedia so I appreciate your clarity on this.

Chrisorban (talk) 23:59, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Chrisorban, it needs to show notability outside of the affiliated groups, sponsors and partnerships. If it was publicized and promoted via Hour of Code, then that source is not independent. Same with the conference and the Journal. Are there journals, magazines that discuss the project but are not connected? AngusWOOF (barksniff) 00:05, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
AngusWOOF, Hourofcode.com is just a peer reviewed website that hosts computer science content. They did not promote the STEMcoding activities. They just reviewed and found them to meet the criteria to be hosted there. Likewise, the American Journal of Physics (which I mention in the article) is an independent entity that reviewed the paper we submitted and published it in 2018 (as mentioned in the article). They did not promote the paper or try to get anyone to read it. In the article I mention that Richelle and I are members of the American Association of Physics Teachers and we have run workshops at their national meetings. But we are not a part of the leadership of that organization and that organization does not "promote" our materials. Same thing with the Physics Education Research Conference. These are all external entities that we are independent from. Chrisorban (talk) 00:22, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Chrisorban, thanks for clarifying the references. I wanted to make sure they weren't press releases. I would check the info over at WP:INDY. The local news articles might be good to include:

These are Ohio based but not affiliated with the schools. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:08, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This https://aapt.scitation.org/doi/abs/10.1119/1.5021450?journalCode=pte would be considered self-published, so it is not independent, even though it was received and published by AAPT. It's okay to have a few of those but not most of the article based on the material. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:12, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of André Ventura

Hello AngusWOOF,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged André Ventura for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

If an article is pending review, is there anything that can speed up the process?

Jus curious if there's anything I can do on my end from an editing standpoint to encourage a page to be reviewed faster. I added a number of references and authoritative sources to a draft I was working on and am hopeful it will go live soon. I don't want to bother the editors who review new articles since I know there are thousands being submitted at any given time but was curious if you had any suggestions or insight. Hi there, would it be possible to delete this draft? I will publish the article about the album next Friday when it comes out. There's already plenty of references and sources online so I should be able to improve it until then. Thanks! Martinarocks (talk) 11:29, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Martinarocks, can you update the draft with the reviews / previews and the plenty of references? Then it can be ready to publish. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 12:13, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Brittney Karbowski

Woof, I saw that you deleted a lot of the editing on Ms. Karbowski's page. And while I can't say I approve or truly understand why you did what you did, I accept it. But please, if you do care about sources for the anime that Ms. Karbowski works on, then please also try to help find source that are verifiable and trustworthy so that they can be added okay? It's rude to just delete a ton of hard work that an editor had to go through, you know. Steveman 723 (talk) 02:54, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Steveman 723, you didn't cite Behind The Voice Actors properly. They need green checkmarks leading to actual closing credits. There's always the IMDb or Crystalacids if someone wants to look up her roles that are not sourced. I've been checking her filmography (and those of many other voice actors) regularly so yes, there are roles she voices in other shows, so if you can find the actual episodes where she is credited by name, or cast announcements, then you can cite those. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 05:30, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Steveman 723, please do not add unsourced entries such as the 7 Seeds one. You need to find another source for that. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 05:43, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

So how do I find green checkmark that lead to actual closing credits besides taking the easy way out like imdb? I really do care about editing and want to do this right this time. Steveman 723 (talk) 11:44, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Steveman 723, look for the green checkmarks on their actor pages [2]. For example Btoom into You has a checkmark. Click on the picture and it will show you a screenshot of the closing credits. Note Princess Principal does not have a checkmark so you can't source BTVA for that one. IMDb or ANN encyclopedia portion isn't a reliable source so you can't use those. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 15:50, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Steveman 723, for Brittney's filmography, I am sorting the filmography entries by date of debut in the work, whether it be the English DVD or the dub broadcast, so the list of works do not need to be in alphabetical order. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 17:48, 15 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

129.130.88.169, how does "Estimating Water use by Vegetation is crucial for conserving water, managing Irrigation, and acquiring Water right information of individuals for Legal purpose. Farmers need these information to apply accurate Water in Crop for optimum Crop yield...." introduce what the BAITSSS is? It should start with the second paragraph and be more concise. It needs a history of the term / project. Who created it? How was it funded? How was it rolled out? Is it still active? AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:55, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, AngusWOOF,

I have restored this draft upon request and the assertion by a band member and article creator that it is not a hoax but a spin-off band from Nosferatu (band). I don't think that it will meet Wikipedia's notability standard for bands but I'm willing to give him/her a bit more time to work on the draft. Liz Read! Talk! 16:34, 15 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Liz, thanks. They should have listed this up front, with new lineup, and remove the old content; otherwise, this can redirect to the main band article in the meantime. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:39, 15 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure why the commenter rejected the article purely on the grounds that "wikipedia is not a research journal or textbook". The subject of the article is suitable, in reduced form, as part of the articles on the EM algorithm and Mixture models, so why would it not be suitable to expand on this for the specific application of the EM algorithm to mixture models? In addition, Wikipedia seems an entirely suitable place to reference multiple independent sources (Handbook of Mixture Analysis and Finite Mixture Models) which refer to the same concept, and comment on issues specific to this application of the EM algorithm raised by those independent sources. I am in no way connected to any of the authors of the cited books, nor have I ever communicated with any of them.
