Re: Nicky da B

Thank you for starting this article. I hope you don't mind, but I added the article to Wikipedia:Wiki Loves Pride 2016/Results, which tracks new and improved LGBT-related content as part of an ongoing Wiki Loves Pride campaign. If you create or improve other LGBT articles between now and the end of June, feel free to update this page with your contributions. Thanks again! ---Another Believer (Talk) 01:08, 9 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I was wondering if you'd be interested in setting up Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Turkey), based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). Now it's not a contest in itself, it's designed to motivate people to inspire others to improve content and build something which demonstrates the hard work going into the country which is visible. The focus is more on quality improvements but new articles are welcome too. Eventually a Turkish National Contest could be created to fuel it, like Wikipedia:Awaken the Dragon, in which contestants can choose to keep the Amazon vouchers themselves to buy their own books for more articles or put them into book fund to help editors further improve Turkish-related topics by giving them the books they want. It will begin though as purely an improvement drive. If interested, or you think anybody else might be interested, alert them and sign up on the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Turkey talk page at the bottom. Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 14:12, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Invite to the African Destubathon

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Peer review request

At Virginia Conventions, Mojohand and TheVirginiaHistorian are trying to advance the article to GA status. Any peer review, overall critique or contribution would be welcome. Thanks in advance. TheVirginiaHistorian (talk) 15:12, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 11:28, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:WikiProject United States/The 50,000 Challenge

You are invited to participate in the 50,000 Challenge, aiming for 50,000 article improvements and creations for articles relating to the United States. This effort began on November 1, 2016 and to reach our goal, we will need editors like you to participate, expand, and create. See more here!

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Sara Gideon, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Medicare (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hello, there. How are you? I have begun significantly expanding the Good (political party) article, which I nominated for DYK. At this stage, it has been expanded by about 50%. Can you maybe review it once more? It will greatly be appreciated. Lefcentreright (talk) 20:03, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I don't think WP: DYK is the place to feature this. The expectation for existing articles has always been a five-time expansion, as in 500%, not 50%. Sorry, I don't make the rules.-- Patrick, oѺ 22:06, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I created the article and practically grew it from about the 3,000 bytes when I created it, to about the 16,000 bytes it is composed of today. I believe it is notable to be included in the DYK section, because of its very odd and non-cliché name. Here in South Africa, we have an abundance of 300 political parties (yes, 300) that in their names include stereotypical words like "National", "Freedom", "Democratic", etc. All of the old worn-out words. When Good came along in December 2018, it was quite a surprise. We all expected that Good party leader and veteran South African politician Patricia de Lille would revive her old Independent Democrats party. De Lille has led two parties in her political life. The establishment of the party was strange if I can put it like that. Media and many political analysts expected that Good would not be taken seriously because of its name, yet the party went on to win two seats in the National Assembly of South Africa and one in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament. De Lille is now a minister in the cabinet of South Africa. I specified that I had moved Good to the "mainspace". I did not write "5x expanded". I was precautious this time about writing "5x expanded" because I had previously nominated the 27th South African Parliament article to be included in the DYK section. It did not qualify because of numerical terms (hence, the 5x expanded). Lefcentreright (talk) 18:43, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

DYK nomination of House and Land

Hello! Your submission of House and Land at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Yoninah (talk) 01:01, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for House and Land

On 4 September 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article House and Land, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that experimental folk band House and Land have reinterpreted traditional ballads to remove misogyny by focusing on female protagonists? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/House and Land. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, House and Land), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Map of West Virginia

Hi Patrickneil. I made a map of West Virginia too. You may be interested. Thanks--Ikonact (talk) 21:47, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Very cool! Let me find a place for that! The other state I've been working on is New York (state), where I think we'd love to replace the old File:New York Relief 1-EDIT.jpg file with a proper SVG map.-- Patrick, oѺ 14:12, 18 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I put the map in Environment of West Virginia. I will try to make a map of New York in the following days. --Ikonact (talk) 16:11, 18 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I made a first attempt to create a map of New York. If OK I will clean up a bit and put river names and other names.--Ikonact (talk) 22:05, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
This still impresses me, yes, that looks really good. I think the "Bu" in Buffalo is getting shaded gray for being just outside the state, maybe it can be fixed or repositioned right to be inside the shading. Same with Yonkers and some of the cities around NYC. I guess this happened on other maps, I just notice Buffalo because its bigger.-- Patrick, oѺ 01:22, 21 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Corrected. River and lakes names added. For me the map is ready. --Ikonact (talk) 20:24, 21 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Already added to the state's article, keep up the great work!-- Patrick, oѺ 02:28, 22 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Map of NY

Hi Patrickneil, I proposed the map of NY as candidate for featured picture on Commons. You may be interested by the discussion there. It is useful for improving the map. Regards --Ikonact (talk) 09:38, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome. Strong support!-- Patrick, oѺ 14:02, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
