FRGS?

How, pray, did she win the honour of FRGS? Or are these now handed out like DLitts to pop stars, and for the same reason - to catch some of the glow from a celebrity and attract publicity to an institution ? I'm a great fan of Joanna, but come on... The Royal Societies are a very big deal and membership is only from a lifetime of superior research. Or is that just old hat ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:44b8:3102:bb00:1090:cab9:cff2:ed64 (talk) 20:26, 29 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The Daily Telegraph says: "In her thirties, Lumley became a fellow of the Royal Geographic Society after a trek of the Hunza mountains in northern Pakistan" [1]. Martinevans123 (talk) 20:38, 29 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Too much about Lumley's charity support

In an article about a person known to the public for her highly successful acting career, I suggest there is too much material about the various charities for which Lumely has worked or which she supports. This is not because I in any way denigrate or try to diminish such work. It simply seems off-topic in this article, and gives the appearance of trying to promote Lumley's causes in Wikipedia. I suggest the charity subheads be reduced to a simple list occupying a single paragraph. Dratman (talk) 04:24, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
yes, it does rather begin to sound a bit like a PR piece, doesnt it. even in the personal life section, where you'd want to know more about the person (yes, HP is nothing if not an excellent tabloid presence, but isnt an encyclopedia MEANT to reflect the times of its creation - otherwise how can one gauge its noise level?) we get more PR...

Query about categorisation

I am rather confused about why Joanna Lumley has been placed in the category "British people of English descent" since ALL English people could be put in this category. Rollo August (talk) 21:26, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
