NPR Newsletter No.17

Hello Willsome429,

News
Discussions of interest
  • Two elements of CSD G6 have been split into their own criteria: R4 for redirects in the "File:" namespace with the same name as a file or redirect at Wikimedia Commons (Discussion), and G14 for disambiguation pages which disambiguate zero pages, or have "(disambiguation)" in the title but disambiguate a single page (Discussion).
  • {{db-blankdraft}} was merged into G13 (Discussion)
  • A discussion recently closed with no consensus on whether to create a subject-specific notability guideline for theatrical plays.
  • There is an ongoing discussion on a proposal to create subject-specific notability guidelines for chemicals and organism taxa.
Reminders
  • NPR is not a binary keep / delete process. In many cases a redirect may be appropriate. The deletion policy and its associated guideline clearly emphasise that not all unsuitable articles must be deleted. Redirects are not contentious. See a classic example of the templates to use. More templates are listed at the R template index. Reviewers who are not aware, do please take this into consideration before PROD, CSD, and especially AfD because not even all admins are aware of such policies, and many NAC do not have a full knowledge of them.
NPP Tools Report
  • Superlinks – allows you to check an article's history, logs, talk page, NPP flowchart (on unpatrolled pages) and more without navigating away from the article itself.
  • copyvio-check – automatically checks the copyvio percentage of new pages in the background and displays this info with a link to the report in the 'info' panel of the Page curation toolbar.
  • The NPP flowchart now has clickable hyperlinks.

Ben Sharpiro- Okay this is EPIC

Sam Ard edit

To Willsome 429,

You have removed several of my edits that attempt to flesh out the career stats on this Nascar Hall of Fame nominee.

In doing so, you've removed important factual information on Sam's wins and finishes, sourced from thethirdturn.com (Nascar records are incomplete). Please explain.

You replaced my edits with false, misleading statement: "Before Late Model Sportsman became an official Nascar division", and incomplete, ambiguous win/finish information. Please explain.

Late Model Sportsman IS an official Nascar National Championship division beginning 1950 until it was replaced by a touring series: "Budweiser Late Model", later "Busch Grand National", later "Busch", later "Nationwide", now Xfinity".

From 1950-present, LMS has been one of Nascar's three "national"series... originally the three were Grand National, Late Model Sportsman and Modified, now its Cup, Xfinity and trucks.

Please restore Sam's detailed LMS win record as I presented it. If you wish to verify each line item, go to thethirdturn.com , check Late Model Sportsman results for each of the years listed.

Thanks, MikeJoy500 (talk) 14:35, 22 March 2019 (UTC)

Nascar Hall of Fame nominating committee member & voting committee member.
Hi Mike, and thanks for your concern. To address a couple of your points:
  • Wikipedia content must be backed up with reliable sources. The linked page explicitly excludes fan-generated sites such as Wikia, which is the platform The Third Turn is based on. In relation to other editors, I’m doing a nice compromise, as many editors would have removed all the content. Instead, I edited prose to bring the content up to Wikipedia standards and kept the content, which was a cleaner summary to the (still incomplete) Third Turn results. If there are reliable sources that back Ard’s record (FOX/NBC, nascar.com, etc.) please add them.
  • For better or for worse, Wikipedia only recognizes what is now the Xfinity Series as a national touring series since 1982, and henceforth my wording, as Wikipedia recognizes Ard as the inaugural Xfinity Series champion.

To close, I really can’t restore your edits without risk of another editor removing it, and I feel like the compromise I made was the best way to navigate the issue. If you want to start a wider discussion on the LMS/Xfinity divide, you can start a new discussion at WT:NASCAR. Regards, Willsome429 (say hey or see my edits!) 17:03, 22 March 2019 (UTC)

I have unreviewed a page you curated

Hi, I'm John from Idegon. I wanted to let you know that I saw the page you reviewed, Jordan Smallwood (American football), and have marked it as unpatrolled. If you have any questions, please ask them on my talk page. Thank you.

Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Anthony Alfredo, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Twitch (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 12:40, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

Why did you change my user page 3 hours ago?

Recent Edit (Justin Sumpter)

In regards to your recent edit on Justin Sumpter's page, Sumpter is a member of the LA Rams not the Titans. He was offered an invite to camp by Tennessee but he did not sign with them. As you can see on his various social media accounts, he is a member of the LA Rams. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Boomtower (talkcontribs) 02:04, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

Per WP:V, a third-party source is needed to confirm. And while the Journal did not explicitly say that he accepted the invitation, it did say that he became the second Owl to sign, strongly implying that Mr. Sumpter did indeed take up Tennessee. If you have a third-party source that says that he is on the Rams, feel free to add it and change the content accordingly. Regards, Willsome429 (say hey or see my edits!) 02:14, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

NPR Newsletter No.18

Hello Willsome429,

WMF at work on NPP Improvements

Niharika Kohli, a product manager for the growth team, announced that work is underway in implementing improvements to New Page Patrol as part of the 2019 Community Wishlist and suggests all who are interested watch the project page on meta. Two requested improvements have already been completed. These are:

  • Allow filtering by no citations in page curation
  • Not having CSD and PRODs automatically marked as reviewed, reflecting current consensus among reviewers and current Twinkle functionality.
Reliable Sources for NPP

Rosguill has been compiling a list of reliable sources across countries and industries that can be used by new page patrollers to help judge whether an article topic is notable or not. At this point further discussion is needed about if and how this list should be used. Please consider joining the discussion about how this potentially valuable resource should be developed and used.

Backlog drive coming soon

Look for information on the an upcoming backlog drive in our next newsletter. If you'd like to help plan this drive, join in the discussion on the New Page Patrol talk page.

Work together. Stop mass deleting.

I didn't plagarize. And It isn't promotion. There are countless external links. Take a look at all the external links. I know you are very self important editing on Wikipedia, but I am following the rules as outlined by the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(organizations_and_companies). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dallas.jackson.spsx (talkcontribs) 14:46, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

@Dallas.jackson.spsx: Hi Dallas, and thank you for reaching out. Here are the grounds on which I based my decision to overturn your edits:
  • Wikipedia:Plagiarism: the Superior Essex website is a copyrighted source, so text cannot be copied from the website.
  • Wikipedia:Reliable sources: the Superior Essex website is not independent of the company itself, obviously. Content backed by sources published by the company should not be used.
  • Wikipedia:Neutral point of view: the blurbs from the Superior Essex website read like an ad - because it is supposed to be one. Wikipedia, however, is not supposed to be one.
  • Wikipedia:Conflict of interest: your username and above statement give the impression that you are connected to and are potentially being paid by Superior Essex for your contributions. Please note that Wikipedia expects all editors to disclose all conflicts of interest, paid and unpaid, on either your user page or user talk page. Editing pages that you have a connection to is strongly discouraged.

Right now, there is little salvageable from your contributions that have both reliable sources and a neutral point of view. If you would like to try and refine your edits, go ahead and then I will see if I can salvage more. Please remember, however, that more advertising and promotion may lead to a block. Unfortunately, the guideline that you used as a baseline has no applicability here. The notability of Superior Essex was never in doubt, rendering that guideline invalid in this scenario. Regards, Willsome429 (say hey or see my edits!) 15:55, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

There are source links to CNN, MarketWatch, Rueters, Money, BusinessWire, International Living Future, The US GOVERNMENT, AccuTech, and many other sources to back up the content on that page. Did you even look at it?

There are also internal links to product data sheets, which are very common on industry pages on wikipedia. There are also citations to internal links to show where the material came from.

It is not different from how most every other business page on Wikipedia is written. I don't know why you are hard up on these edits but all are within the same standard that other pages use. Thanks for your feedback. I will do my best to make additional changes, but please stop deleting what is being added because the additions all have citations.

If you have a specific question, please ask it before you delete further. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dallas.jackson.spsx (talkcontribs) 18:35, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

I am not trying to do anything other than create the business Wiki page. If you are going to spend this much time making my edits, please feel free to make actual edits and not just delete. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dallas.jackson.spsx (talkcontribs) 18:37, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
would welcome anything constructive and specific as to what you believe is advertorial? instead of a mass deletion, how about being specific so that it can be addressed. Dallas.jackson.spsx (talk) 18:42, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
Unfortunately, this is different than most business pages on Wikipedia. There was already a page for Superior Essex, and while it had its flaws, it was a suitable page for the encyclopedia. Copy-pasting work and adding blatant promotion is not suitable for Wikipedia. Instead, content must follow a neutral point of view, which does not read like an ad. Words like "leading", "biggest", and boasting about the company should be removed. Sections copy-pasted from the website should be removed or completely rewritten to erase any traces of plagiarism, and done so without the use of any first-person pronouns such as "ours". Simply because WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS doesn't mean it should, as in the case of the internal references. If you rewrite with a neutral tone and only outside sources, the content may stand. Willsome429 (say hey or see my edits!) 18:53, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi Willsome429. I noticed that you recently used thefamouspeople.com as a source for biographical information in Eden Prairie High School. New Page Review newsletter July-August 2019

Hello Willsome429,

WMF at work on NPP Improvements

More new features are being added to the feed, including the important red alert for previously deleted pages. This will only work if it is selected in your filters. Best is to 'select all'. Do take a moment to check out all the new features if you have not already done so. If anything is not working as it should, please let us know at NPR. There is now also a live queue of AfC submissions in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to review AfCs, but bear in mind that NPP is an official process and policy and is more important.

QUALITY of REVIEWING

Articles are still not always being checked thoroughly enough. If you are not sure what to do, leave the article for a more experienced reviewer. Please be on the alert for any incongruities in patrolling and help your colleagues where possible; report patrollers and autopatrolled article creators who are ostensibly undeclared paid editors. The displayed ORES alerts offer a greater 'at-a-glance' overview, but the new challenges in detecting unwanted new content and sub-standard reviewing do not necessarily make patrolling any easier, nevertheless the work may have a renewed interest factor of a different kind. A vibrant community of reviewers is always ready to help at NPR.

Backlog

The backlog is still far too high at between 7,000 and 8,000. Of around 700 user rights holders, 80% of the reviewing is being done by just TWO users. In the light of more and more subtle advertising and undeclared paid editing, New Page Reviewing is becoming more critical than ever.

Move to draft

NPR is triage, it is not a clean up clinic. This move feature is not limited to bios so you may have to slightly re-edit the text in the template before you save the move. Anything that is not fit for mainspace but which might have some promise can be draftified - particularly very poor English and machine and other low quality translations.

Notifying users

Remember to use the message feature if you are just tagging an article for maintenance rather than deletion. Otherwise articles are likely to remain perma-tagged. Many creators are SPA and have no intention of returning to Wikipedia. Use the feature too for leaving a friendly note note for the author of a first article you found well made or interesting. Many have told us they find such comments particularly welcoming and encouraging.

PERM

Admins are now taking advantage of the new time-limited user rights feature. If you have recently been accorded NPR, do check your user rights to see if this affects you. Depending on your user account preferences, you may receive automated notifications of your rights changes. Requests for permissions are not mini-RfAs. Helpful comments are welcome if absolutely necessary, but the bot does a lot of the work and the final decision is reserved for admins who do thorough research anyway.

Other news

School and academic holidays will begin soon in various places around the Western world. Be on the lookout for the usual increase in hoax, attack, and other junk pages.

Our next newsletter might be announcing details of a possible election for co-ordinators of NPR. If you think you have what it takes to micro manage NPR, take a look at New Page Review Coordinators - it's a job that requires a lot of time and dedication.

It should have been Leonard Wood (team owner) or something like that because he doesn't race, he is a team owner. 99721829Max (talk) 20:56, 9 July 2019 (UTC)

”Racing” does not mean he is a driver. It means he is involved with the sport of racing. And we like to keep page titles broad, as you can see from the number of pages that say “racing driver” instead of “NASCAR driver” because NASCAR is not everything. Rollback rights

Hey, I’m 99721829Max, I want rollback rights on the English Wikipedia. How am I going to have rights for that? 99721829Max (talk) 02:18, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

Hello? Where’s my reply? 99721829Max (talk) 03:19, 24 July 2019 (UTC)
Hi Max. To attempt to gain rollback rights, apply at WP:PERM/Rollback. And I think it is more than fair to give me more than 61 minutes to respond before you poke with a follow up. What if I’m at work? What if I’m on a long drive? This kind of impatience lands you in hot water in certain areas of the encyclopedia. Willsome429 (say hey or see my edits!) 03:27, 24 July 2019 (UTC)
Sorry. 99721829Max (talk) 03:52, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

Why did you revert my edit on Tim George Jr.?

99721829Max (talk) 01:48, 27 July 2019 (UTC)

Because nonexistent categories have no place on pages. It’s not beneficial to swap out existing categories (racing drivers from New York State) for a nonexistent one (racing drivers from Manhattan). Willsome429 (say hey or see my edits!) 02:14, 27 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi Josh, and thank you for bringing your concerns here. Here's where the situation stands: I am not interested in being "your Wikipedia guy", paid or unpaid. I merely reverted your edits because they go against WP:V, which states that all content has to be cited by reliable sources. NFLisAwesome presumably spent a lot of time building what I consider a quality page, better than the pages for a lot of other drivers on here. As is also stated on your talk page, the Wikipedia conflist of interest policy states that subjects of Wikipedia pages are highly advised not to edit their own pages, and instead encouraged to take their concerns to the talk page, which I will go more in depth there. Thank you for your cooperation. Willsome429 (say hey or see my edits!) 00:53, 1 August 2019 (UTC)

@NASCAR1: I have continually addressed you as Josh, and I don't doubt that you are the driver. However, there are policies that Wikipedia is tied to, and more likely than not this would've happened eventually with another editor. I would once again like to reiterate that there is, however, an opportunity to potentially change some of what you believe is misinformation. Drop links to sources that back up the information you added (here, on the article's talk page, on your talk page), and I can make it work. Almost every sentence in that article is suppoorted by a citation, so I don't quite know how that much misinformation spread throughout that many different sources, but if you have different sources, I will do my best to make it happen. Willsome429 (say hey or see my edits!) 01:41, 1 August 2019 (UTC)

Hello Willsome429, I have contested PROD on this article. You may take it to the AfD as the deletion does not appear to be an uncontroversial one. You may want to check the article on Hellenic Wikipedia. Regards. Hitro talk 13:58, 5 August 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for your explanation (2007 Cup Series article)

Hello Willsome429, I think this is how you do this (write back). I'm a new editor so hopefully I got it. This is my first attempt at doing this.

Thanks so much for your comment to me/explanation on the 2007 Cup Series season article as to why you think the crew chiefs who don't have their own articles should still have links on their names (and which will be in red since they don't work). It seems like you know your stuff (you talked about a rule/policy or something I wasn't aware of) and because of that, I'll leave that alone going forward. The only reason I thought they should be removed is because on some of the other more recent seasons (such as this year's), they don't have "red no article links", so just to keep things consistent, I thought I'd do that. I also updated some of the crew chief info because not all of them crew chiefed those teams the whole year according to the Jayski chart and Racing Reference. Just like how it is with all the recent seasons articles where they list multiple CC's and what races they crew chiefed for that team.

I also just read your info page and looks like you've been doing this for quite a while now. I never knew you wrote all those articles about these drivers and football players. Keep up the good work!

Thanks again, Sean Cavanaugh (Cavanaughs)

@Cavanaughs: Hi Sean, and welcome. It’s just a matter of me not having a ton of time to red link a lot of stuff as to why, and I see how you could get confused. Again, thank you for your constructive contributions to the page, and as you edit more, don’t be afraid to ask myself or anybody else also working on pages you’re working on for help. You seem to edit about racing a lot, and I’d like to extend the invite to you to join WikiProject NASCAR, a collaboration among editors. When posting on talk pages, don’t forget to sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) to sign and date it. Happy editing! Willsome429 (say hey or see my edits!) 16:39, 8 August 2019 (UTC)

Ridgefield High School (Connecticut)

My bad! Somehow I "spaced" the cite in your edit. I did check the article on him and nothing was mentioned there about high school. Cheers... Cuprum17 (talk) 12:41, 13 August 2019 (UTC)

@Cuprum17: Cheers! We’ve all been there before, it’s all good. Willsome429 (say hey or see my edits!) 12:43, 13 August 2019 (UTC)

Listing of withdrawals on 2019 Truck Series standings

Aah, I see. That does seem like a fair agreement/decision. I was using Racing Reference because I knew there were more withdrawals than the one or two that were not deleted after I put them on the first time. Like my edits you explained last time, I again wasn't aware of that "rule", so I waited a week or so and then added them back a week or so later. I feel like in the past I remember seeing all withdrawals listed on past standings (from like 2009 or 2010, which are the first two years on the site which have a complete standings that are the kind used today), but I could be wrong though.

Thank you for explaining again.

My edit on Ryan Vargas is not a test!!!

I thought the article Ryan Vargas is not a stub, so it's a mistake, not a test edit. 99721829Max (talk) 03:24, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

I've reverted my edits

Dear Willsome, Just wanted to let you know that I did change the edits back in regards to the picture format of the images of the championship 4 drivers from the 2016 and 2017 Xfinity and Truck Series articles. I thought it would be cool to have their pictures in a horizontal row (instead of vertical/down like in numerous other Nascar season articles where there are multiple pictures), but I clearly don't know how to do that yet and as a result there was, as you saw in the 2018 Xfinity and Truck articles, this funky text above each image. Now it's all gone and the pictures of those drivers are shown vertically.

Hey, Willsome429, I'm sorry about my "copy-paste moves" but I had to because I can't move over a redirect. How do you do that? 99721829Max (talk) 19:39, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

You're missing the point. Credit due to the racing driver, but he's not the main topic of Tyler Hill, as Tyler Hill Camp has more pageviews in the past 30 days. I don't think we should look at moving this particular set of pages until he becomes full-time or at the very least picks up races at a more frequent rate, presumably leading to more page views. Willsome429 (say hey or see my edits!) 19:50, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for letting me know. 99721829Max (talk) 19:52, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
  • Actually, Willsome429, the racer currently has the most 30 day page views of all the pages on the disambiguation page. I use the Xools gadget (the last gadget in the appearance section of Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets) which comes in handy in these situations. I would probably prefer, if anything, to move the disambig page to the main page. -- Dolotta (talk) 20:39, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
I also have XTools turned on, which for me showed that the camp had a few more 30-day pageviews than the racing driver. I too believe that moving the dab page to “Tyler Hill” would be the best idea. Willsome429 (say hey or see my edits!) 12:16, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

Warriorwolfraven (talk) 13:43, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
@Warriorwolfraven: Hi Greg, and thanks for reaching out. I did not stop the page, I just rerouted it. The main issues that I found were that there were no sources and that there were myriad manual of style issues. It wasn’t ready for the main space yet, so I moved it to Draft space, where you can work on it without it getting deleted. I’m not particularly interested in rugby, so I’m not going to develop the page for you, but read this for information on citing sources and this for information on how to make your article look like a Wikipedia page. Once you have developed the page to your liking, submit it for review (there should be a button on the page) and a reviewer will either accept it or give the page more feedback. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dustin Skinner requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. 99721829Max (talk) 01:10, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

I put the CSD template there because the article was recently deleted per a deletion discussion. 99721829Max (talk) 01:22, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

Your reasoning shows a grave lack of understanding in the area. The G4 deletion rationale is for pages similar to those deleted before. The deleted page had one sentence. This one has eight sources. Please stop this disruptive editing immediately and take some time to read and learn so that you use CSD (and Twinkle in general) correctly. I would also strongly suggest reading AfD primers after your recent South Fork adventure that caused quite a bit of confusion. Willsome429 (say hey or see my edits!) 01:24, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

New Page Review newsletter September-October 2019

Hello Willsome429,

Backlog

Instead of reaching a magic 300 as it once did last year, the backlog approaching 6,000 is still far too high. An effort is also needed to ensure that older unsuitable older pages at the back of the queue do not get automatically indexed for Google.

Coordinator

A proposal is taking place here to confirm a nominated user as Coordinator of NPR.

This month's refresher course

Why I Hate Speedy Deleters, a 2008 essay by long since retired Ballonman, is still as valid today. Those of us who patrol large numbers of new pages can be forgiven for making the occasional mistake while others can learn from their 'beginner' errors. Worth reading.

Deletion tags

Do bear in mind that articles in the feed showing the trash can icon (you will need to have 'Nominated for deletion' enabled for this in your filters) may have been tagged by inexperienced or non NPR rights holders using Twinkle. They require your further verification.

Paid editing

Please be sure to look for the tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary. WMF policy requires paid editors to connect to their adverts.

Subject-specific notability guidelines' (SNG). Alternatives to deletion
  • Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves once more with notability guidelines for organisations and companies.
  • Blank-and-Redirect is a solution anchored in policy. Please consider this alternative before PRODing or CSD. Note however, that users will often revert or usurp redirects to re-create deleted articles. Do regularly patrol the redirects in the feed.
Not English
  • A common issue: Pages not in English or poor, unattributed machine translations should not reside in main space even if they are stubs. Please ensure you are familiar with WP:NPPNE. Check in Google for the language and content, and if they do have potential, tag as required, then move to draft. Modify the text of the template as appropriate before sending it.
Tools

Regular reviewers will appreciate the most recent enhancements to the New Pages Feed and features in the Curation tool, and there are still more to come. Due to the wealth of information now displayed by ORES, reviewers are strongly encouraged to use the system now rather than Twinkle; it will also correctly populate the logs.

Stub sorting, by SD0001: A new script is available for adding/removing stub tags. See User:SD0001/StubSorter.js, It features a simple HotCat-style dynamic search field. Many of the reviewers who are using it are finding it an improvement upon other available tools.

Assessment: The script at User:Evad37/rater makes the addition of Wikiproject templates extremely easy. New page creators rarely do this. Reviewers are not obliged to make these edits but they only take a few seconds. They can use the Curation message system to let the creator know what they have done.

DannyS712 bot III is now patrolling certain categories of uncontroversial redirects. Curious? Check out its patrol log.

Go here to remove your name if you wish to opt-out of future mailings.

There are so many articles with few citations but are kept as a stub. Why do you remove articles I write — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tripple666 (talkcontribs) 00:42, 16 September 2019 (UTC)

@Tripple666: Hello, and thanks for reaching out. I'd like to clear up a couple points. First off, I did not remove your article, per se, I redirected it instead. Contrary to what you may think, I did not redirect the article because it was about an African, or because you are a new editor. Like the talk page message said, the page was undersourced to me. The TVSA bio backed up some information, and the other source was hidden to me because I'm not subscribed to the magazine. If there are "quite numerous citations", feel free to add them in to the page and the folks at Articles for Creation will help you out from there. And as for other articles including sources from not-so-great websites, see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS - editors should continue to try and strive for a high bar, as if we aim low, the quality will continue to slip. I can't do a quality control check of the entire 5,850,000 pages on the encyclopedia, but I try to keep my tiny slice of it well-maintained. I hope that answers all your questions and concerns, and if you have any more, feel free to leave them below. Regards, Willsome429 (say hey or see my edits!) 01:16, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
