    Covid-19

Reinstate COVID-19 pandemic to ongoing events, it is still very much an ongoing event of extreme note. Groble (talk) 06:01, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This proposal should be raised at WP:ITN, as the entry is posted through ITN. Carter00000 (talk) 16:09, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If the bar for "extreme note" is that low to the point where most countries have no mandates in place for it anymore and almost no one wears a mask for it, then in that case the HIV/AIDS pandemic, flu season, the tuberculosis epidemic, and the obesity epidemic should also be there. Canadian government accuses Indian government agents of murder on Canadian soil

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has today informed parliament that the Canadian national security apparatus has reason to believe that "agents of the Indian government" perpetrated the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trudeau-indian-government-nijjar-1.6970498. Of course, we can expect the story to evolve over time but this seems to be a quite notable development worth mentioning here in the Current Events page. I don't know if this should go under the "International relations" heading or the "Law and crime" heading and I do not seem to have permission to edit the page so I'll leave it up to the discretion of somebody with that power to first determine if this is significant enough to warrant mention and, should they deem it significant enough to mention, which heading it would go under. biased wording?

    Isn't this biased wording?

    > Canada accuses India of being linked to the killing of Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada, causing a diplomatic crisis.

It places the blame on Canada instead of India, as if assassination is okay, but accusing them is not. I would think the assassination is the cause of the crisis. Tanath (talk) 19:06, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This issue should be raised at WP:ERRORS under Errors with "In the news", as the entry is made through WP:ITN. Carter00000 (talk) 16:07, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

    Incomplete information

The news reads "US condemns French ban on Abaya.(Al Arabiya)". However, it is not the abaya that was banned, but wearing the abaya (or qami) in public schools. I feel this may misinform some readers. 37.171.173.57 (talk) 14:33, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

    Unverified stories

Should it be included in the summary whether or not a story has been verified or not? Why include unsubstantiated stories? 2600:1700:3AE1:50:1129:806F:6AD2:AEEC (talk) 12:24, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is specifically in reference to the October 5 story about a Russian child killed in Horlivka by a Ukrainian munition. The Al Jazeera news feed which is given as the source states that the story could not be verified. 2600:1700:3AE1:50:1129:806F:6AD2:AEEC (talk) 12:59, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

    On the "Ongoing" Section

    Complete overhaul.

    Something like

Ongoing events : 2023 Nigerien crisis, Flight of Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians

Ongoing conflicts : Yemen War, Syria War, Ukraine war, Sudan War

    Recent deaths : Lukt64 (talk) 00:09, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Completly agree. As well, why was the War in Sudan removed? it is a high-impact conflict. Affiliating (talk) 17:57, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not enough activity on the page. Lukt64 (talk) 18:03, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
