moved non-English section from the article:

Coles

[edit]

Colonel Isaac A. Coles could be Colonel Isaac Coles; except that the latter had apparently been dead for three years in 1816. Any theories/corrections? Charles Matthews 09:50, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Leonardo

[edit]

Recently I purchased a book recently published on Leonardo's drawings. I thought I recognised in some of Leonardo's architectural drawings of churches some of the latter motifs that show up with Palladio's drawings. I know Leonardo made at least two trips to Venice that we are aware of and perhaps something of Leonardo's influence had an impact latter on with Palladio? [[Mark Faraday|Art4humanists] 22:22 15 December 2006 (UTC)

The first question would be, how could the mason's son have seen Leonardo's notebooks?--Wetman 09:05, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The second question, which drawings? They should be dateable and if so, you can put them in context of his visits to Venice. On the other hand, his polyvalence makes it possible ideas at any time could have passed outwards. The obvious common link, Michaelangelo, is belied by the latter's rejection of Leonardo's values: his Capitoline buildings, which one would surely have expected to show some such influence, lacks it completely.

Harmony and musical proportion

[edit]

It might be worth mentioning Rudolph Wittkower's views on musical proportion in Palladio's work. I know they're now somewhat questioned, but the viewpoint that music was one of the quadrivium subjects (alongside mathematics, geometry and cosmology) in the academic norm of the day means that this influence was more pervasive at the time than we understand - their world was not as neatly compartmentalised as ours is, so the question, "What's music got to do with it?" which would be rhetorical to us would have had the answer "a lot" in Palladio's day. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.241.227.84 (talk) 07:45, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Palladio not birth name

[edit]

I think the lead should say that Palladio was not his birth name, it's misleading. Siuenti (talk) 20:35, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
