Origins of the name?

[edit]

Is there any connection between Vint Cerf and CERFnet? If so, where is it documented? Gnuish (talk) 08:12, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Found a possible source -- a Vint Cerf talk where he mentions they wanted to call it SURFnet for the San Diego surfing scene, but the name was already in use, so they asked Vint if they could call it CERFnet and he said OK. [1]. Gnuish (talk) 08:21, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What ever happened to CERFnet?

[edit]

The article says it "was operated" but doesn't say when it stopped, or why. Gnuish (talk) 08:13, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
