Apparently there are two reasons why New Zealanders don't eat barracouta, the extreme boniness and the presence of nematode parasites;

If Dad's Army is any guide, they were eaten but generally not enjoyed in the UK during WWII too.

Never seen canned snoek in South Africa[edit]
