Funstuff vs. Things to Make and Do

[edit]

This article needs to discuss the most important features in Friend, namely "Funstuff" and "Things to Make & Do". Also, while this may be a minor violation of WP:TALK, I am interested in hearing Wikipedians' opinions on which was better. I personally am quite partial to "Things to Make & Do", as I love to both make and do things. Also, "Friends in the News" sucks. Mike R (talk) 15:44, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Name of magazine

[edit]

The name is actually The Friend, not just Friend. Every cover page I can find in it's history says "The Friend" on it. This is different from other current LDS Church magazines — "the Ensign" or "the Liahona" or "the New Era" — all of which do indeed omit the "the" from the actual name on the cover page. Not so with The Friend. If a move is still desired, I suggest one be formally proposed for more input. Good Ol’factory (talk) 01:12, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge discussion, The Children's Friend

[edit]

I added the request to merge the article for The Children's Friend (LDS magazine) into this one. From what I can see, there appears to only be one magazine, started in 1902. It was originally titled "The Children's Friend", but was retitled in January 1971 as just "The Friend". I don't see why 2 articles are necessary. Dawynn (talk) 12:02, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Since no one has objected since March, I went ahead and did it.--ARTEST4ECHO talk 22:18, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unmerged and remerged

[edit]

There is currently an AFD about this article; that's what brought this article to my attention. I saw that The Friend was merged to this one back in 2010 but that someone recreated the article for The Friend in 2013. The discussion here and in the AFD leads me to believe that the articles should be one article. That user who recreated The Children's Friend added sources, but it's the same magazine with a modified title. That's pretty common in magazines. If someone has further input on this issue, please write something here. DiamondRemley39 (talk) 12:23, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
