Gran is not a flying ace
[edit]There is no evidence I have been able to find that Gran scored five or more aerial victories. Unless such evidence is supplied, the linkage to is a false linkage.

Incorrect information removed
[edit]Removed information about Grans discovery of the tent, being the first to enter and his skis being used as cross. According to Huntford: Scott and Amundsen Atkinson was the first to enter. Grans diary Hvor sydlyset flammer does not have any information about who saw the tent first or that his skis where used for the cross, neither does Huntford or Cherry-Garrard. --Reinhardheydt (talk) 21:11, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
For further confusion
[edit]Some may probably know this article Tryggve Gran interview with Roland Huntford I don't consider Huntford a reliable source to say the least but how about this? Again there's the debate about his birth date. Despite the church register, indicating that he was born in 1888, it's always 1889 everywhere else and again in this interview. I doubt there were two Tryggve Grans, one born precisely one year after another or that they somehow made a mistake. So it looks like Gran simply didn't care to correct the mistake and his colleagues and historians were wrong. I wonder about the date on his gravestone. Also Gran claims that he did indeed use his skis for the cross. About the person who first spotted the tent: he says it was Hooper. Interesting. I know Charles Wright said it was him. Maybe. But looks like only Hooper bothered to ask about this. AllYourPowers (talk) 18:39, 6 February 2014 (UTC)
Captain Teddy Grant?
[edit]There is no record in the official Gazette of any officer under this name (or variations thereof), serving in the RFC, so if this is true, it must have been entirely unofficial. Nor is there a record of his being awarded the Distinguished Service Cross – he is only ever referred to as Captain or Major Gran, MC. At his first wedding (by which time he was calling himself "Grant") he is recorded as wearing his Military Cross – and also the Mons Star, which was only awarded to men who served in France between August and November 1914, which also seems rather curious. Clarification might be found in his service records here 2/Lieutenant Tryggve GRAN. dawkeye (talk) 22:46, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
