Several people named João Manuel are mentioned in this book, including the Bishop of Guarda of around this time (1459-1476).

I'm removing that he was the son of Edward, King of Portugal based on the book mentioned above. See pages 10-17 for rebuttal of such filiation. Braamcamp Freire is a serious historian and genealogist and provides sufficient arguments against this filiation. --Maragm (talk) 09:24, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
