Hello, War of Dreams, I don't think our paths have crossed previously. I have been doing some work on the Monmouthshire gardens recorded on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales. It started to occur to me that what might be helpful is to have by-county lists (and corresponding Categories) for each Welsh county, which would follow the approach used for [[Category:Lists of listed buildings in Wales]] and [[Category:Lists of Scheduled Monuments in Wales]]. I then thought I'd see what England had done, and I find you are doing something rather similar. So, my first question is, did you intend to do the same for Wales at some point? If you do, I shall leave well alone. But if you don't, would you be willing to advise on my attempting it? I have to confess that many of the more technical aspects of Wikipedia are beyond me and I would certainly need help in setting up the lists and categories/sub-categories. Grateful for any advice. KJP1 (talk) 14:40, 5 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for messaging! I've not yet finished work on the parks and gardens in England, so I haven't got as far as thinking about Wales. I'd be happy to help and advise - it doesn't necessarily have to follow the model I've used for England, which is based on the articles on grade I and grade II* listed buildings - e.g. Grade II* listed buildings in the City of York. Warofdreams talk 00:01, 6 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's very kind. I have made a start, and it seems to have worked out ok. However, I made an initial mess by giving the sub-cat an inappropriate title. I've made, and used, a new one, [[Category:Registered historic parks and gardens in Monmouthshire]] but the first failed attempt continues to lurk here,[1]. Does your mop allow you to zap it? If not, I'm a bit unsure where to flag it. AfD doesn't seem quite right? I shall now create sub-cats for the other Principal Areas (counties), and shall then shamelessly copy one of your lists to create Listed parks and gardens in Monmouthshire. Thanks again for your time and help. KJP1 (talk) 08:25, 6 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Great, looks like it's all going well at the moment, just let me know if and when I can help. Warofdreams talk 00:41, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again - some good progress has been made, which you can see, here. Any suggestions based on your own experience would be very gratefully received. Best regards. KJP1 (talk) 16:44, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article List of UK by-elections (1979 - present) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This contents of this list are already covered in the much more expansive and useful page Lists of United Kingdom by-elections. I don't think replacing it with a redirect would be appropriate in this case, as it would be inconsistent with the redirects List of UK by-elections (1979–2010), List of UK by-elections (2010–present), and the other redirects to the list pages which do not redirect to the list of lists.
