Erroneous talk page archiving

ClueBot III has recently been archiving discussions at WP talk:BFDI to /Archives/ 1 instead of /Archive 1. – MrPersonHumanGuy (talk) 11:35, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The same has happened at Talk:2024 Bondi Junction stabbings/Archives/ 1. Local Variable (talk) 11:46, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@MrPersonHumanGuy and Local Variable: Both instances happened because the page was moved, but the person who moved the page didn't update the ArchiveThis template to reflect that. I've updated the template in both instances to resolve this. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 19:50, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Archiving H2 sections which sit under H1 'YYYY' headers

I'm helping a user at their Talk page: User talk:Irtapil#Talk page archival, and after their config was added, archiving kicked in right away and looks good. User:Irtapil wishes to group discussions under H1 YYYY section headers (e.g. = 2024 =), and I believe that this is compatible with the bot archiving standard H2 discussion threads, but I wanted to make sure. I presume that signed & dated H2 discussions will get archived properly as they individually go stale, is that right? What happens to the H1 headers—do they end up remaining on the talk page to be culled manually later, or do they perhaps get archived when the first H2 under it is archived, or the last one? (As a complicating factor which I presume is unrelated to the general question, the user previously had a heading with unbalanced equal signs; this apparently stopped the bot when it hit that section, but this has since been resolved.) Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 20:06, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help @Mathglot, but i decided i don't really need the headings, I just got rid of them. Then manually archived the bits that went weird. Irtapil (talk) 14:40, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Is there a way to protect specific threads from archiving though? there's a few I want to keep. I thought "start at" might work to keep the top few, but it seems that does something else. Irtapil (talk) 14:42, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Irtapil, Yes, just use the {{subst:DNAU}} template somewhere within the section to stop archiving a particular discussion section. You can also use it to delay archiving; see the doc page. Mathglot (talk) 18:28, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
thank you. Irtapil (talk) 19:06, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
