The India A cricket team is a national cricket team representing India. It is the second-tier cricket of India national cricket team.[3] The team is currently captained by K. S. Bharat in first-class cricket[4] and coached by Shitanshu Kotak.[5][6]

The matches played by India A are not considered to be Test matches or One Day Internationals, instead receive first-class and List A classification respectively.[3] It is a developmental team, often domestic players first get selected in this team before playing for senior team.

The team had played in NKP Salve Challenger Trophy as India Red, Its names were changed for the 2006 version of this tournament. India A became India Red.
