Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Kenya

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Kenya. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Kenya|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Kenya. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Africa.

Keep: Procedural keep per meeting at least some credible and keep...able input. There can be sources since the article somewhat meets inclusion by importance and source by few reliable source per WP:RS.Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 09:44, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
- I'm seeing lots of keep opinions from this editor on this day, and regrettably, most of them do not make sense. "Procedural keep per meeting at least some credible and keep...able input" is close to nonsense. "Somewhat meets inclusion by importance and source by few reliable source" is not a helpful or useful comment. Please state which sources are reliable and contribute towards notability. Geschichte (talk) 21:00, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- @User:Geschichte, it seems I used mobile that caused much of the typographical error. Also the time shows I was in a sleep carried mode (ready to sleep for the night), that I may have edited wrongly (but with love not with prejudice). I didn't see this as early as because I wasn't pinged. Please this type of comment should be partly, when necessary addressed to the editors talk page and if likely, only on that particular case. If I had made mistake, advise me on my TP and not leave a message without diff as you did. Now j understand your message on my TP. The diff I requested wasn't sent by you and it was difficult to check if there was any error with my vote in AFDs. Thanks though and will value the spirit of rechecking. Safari ScribeEdits! Relisting comment: Final relist. I don't think a diff is required when an editor is quoting from a message right above theirs. Sorry if it was embarrassing but some comments in AFDs just don't make any sense.

The result was soft delete. Based on minimal participation, this uncontroversial nomination is treated as an expired PROD (a.k.a. "soft deletion"). Editors can request the article's undeletion. ✗plicit 00:31, 29 May 2024 (UTC)

- Keep, she's mentioned in a broad range of reliable sources, many cited in the article including the BBC, The Guardian, Reuters, The New York Times, Bloomberg, and The Washington Post. The mentions are usually brief, but these three secondary sources at least offer brief bios to base an article:[6][7][8] Also, the article was almost entirely rewritten after its nomination. The writing has issues, but the subject seems notable. Rjjiii (talk) 06:17, 2 June 2024 (UTC)

- Delete. I opened many of the refs and none supported notability. They were trivial mentions, routine coverage or tangential. This is a small organisation and not suitable for inclusion. Desertarun (talk) 13:15, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Desertarun, thanks for your feedback. I genuinely want to improve this page and provide accurate and helpful information. I am not sure what the standard for what constitutes a small vs large organization, but I noticed that many organizations that would be considered "peer" organizations to RefugePoint also have pages, such as HIAS, Women's Refugee Commission, Church World Service, and the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP). I see that IRAP's page is flagged as a "stub" and has this note from Wikipedia: "This article about a philanthropic or charitable organization in the United States is a stub. You can help Wikipedia by expanding it." The page about RefugePoint is an article about a charitable organization, and the edits I suggested were an attempt to help Wikipedia to expand information about the organization and to update outdated information. If there are specific action steps that can be suggested to improve this page and avoid deletion, please advise. Thank you.Abfdesigns (talk) 15:59, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
- You've given no valid arguments for keeping this. You need to read our notability policies, particularly WP:NORG. Further, your arguments amount to whataboutism, which is not an arguemnt that should be used here. The specifics you need to understand is that the sources need to fulfill WP:SIRS; if there are not three sources that all meet SIRS, then the subject is not notable, and therefore does not merit an article. - UtherSRG (talk) 22:40, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

- Weak keep There's quite a lot of coverage here, in this brief profile, this, this, this and this. Whether when combined it's enough to reach WP:GNG I'm not sure, but with what we have and what is likely available offline I think it's worth a weak keep, although I'd suggest a redirect to Kenya international players if a list did exist. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 09:16, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
- Delete : Nice try, but lacks reliable references. Two of the references on the page are dead, and those who are live barely qualify as substantial. Of the sources provided by User:Rugbyfan22, the last one could contribute towards notability, but we’d need a few more, and in different sources for this one to pass. Would support redirect to a Kenya International Players list, if someone creates one. ANairobian (talk) 19:48, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
