Deborah Markowitz

Deborah "Deb" Markowitz is Vermont's Secretary of State. She was first elected in 1988 and was reelected to a fifth term in November 2006. She is a member of the Democratic Party.

Background

Deb Markowitz graduated from the University of Vermont and got her law degree at Georgetown University Law Center. She then founded the Vermont League of Cities and Towns Municipal Law Center. She lives in Montpelier with her husband and three children and a dog named Sadie. When she was little she wanted to be a spy when she grew up, or a farmer.



ANOTHER DEBRA MARKOWITZ. Debra Markowitz is the Nassau County Film Commissoner. She is responsible for locating and coordinating the use of sites within Nassau County, NY, for TV/Movie/Commercial productions. She created the position in 1986 and has served under several different County Executives, both Democratic and Republican. She is also one of the founders of the Long Island International Film Expo, which shows up to 150 movies of all types at a film festival in Bellmore, NY. Debra is also a newly published author. Her first book, NAKED IN THE RAIN, has garnered great reviews.
