I finally got around to a bit of template updating and used your changes as a base as you suggested lo those many weeks ago:-) It appears that I am not alone in my dislike of the mass change. At least according to the talk page of the template project, many users are sticking with the old templates. Accordingly, I decided to keep the old and add the new.--Fuhghettaboutit 04:43, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

I like most of the new templates. The only thing I dislike is there isn't a good {uw} equivalent to {nn-warn}, which I think is a lot more informative than the {uw-creation} tags to help people understand why their band can't be on Wikipedia. So I use the {uw} tags, but I'm still using {nn-warn} for the first-level warning on vanity pages.-FisherQueen (Talk) 12:30, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
This highlights another problem. As far as I can tell there is no chart anywhere showing exactly which new templates [purport to] replace which old templates and which are retained unchanged. I think that all of the csd specific talk page warnings have been kept and there aren't supposed to be replacements. Certainly there are no new templates for that entire class (nn-warn, empty-warn, spam-warn, etc.) all of which are still linked as the suggested warning template at the bottom of their corresponding csd tags. To illustrate, look at the bottom of {{db-bio}} which suggests nn-warn.--Fuhghettaboutit 14:29, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
While there's no direct parallele to nn-warn, I have been using uw-spam1 and uw-delete1 for spamming and blanking, and they seem to fit pretty neatly into the scheme. I do think the new uw warnings layer more neatly than the old ones, I appreciate that there are four reasonably parallel warnings levels for the various offenses, and I like the little graphic, which I think is useful for the warner and the warned. I have to admit that, while they've taken some getting used to, I do like them better. Maybe I'll spend some time creating the nn-warn tier myself and propose it be added... -FisherQueen (Talk) 11:43, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
Well I think that the whole scheme should have been done in a different way. The existing templates should have been proposed to be modified (some of them are the same exact language with an icon added) and then moved after consensus was reached, thus preserving the edit histories. That would have avoided a ot of controversy and given some respect to the creators of the templates. Though I see no reason to change any of those templates, let's preserve the edit histories if this is necessary at all. Personally, even if the templates are better, under this organization, I think having to type uw- for each one is an incredible waste of time; incremental yes, but hundreds of hours lost if you think about it on a macroscopic scale of all users over time.--Fuhghettaboutit 11:45, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
The uw is quite irritating, there I will agree with you. Possibly there was a better way to bring standardization to the existing templates rather than recreating the whole scheme... I'm just glad that the old ones are still live, so those who want to can continue using them. The important thing is that we're all keeping vandals and vanity-publishers appropriately warned... would I be in trouble if I invented and used my own private system? -FisherQueen (Talk) 11:48, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
No, That would be great! You would be feted amd worshipped as an Emersonian-Nietzschean uber-self-reliance guru template god (I'm feeling a it punchy this morning; leaving for work now, move along, nothing to see here).--Fuhghettaboutit 12:11, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Look here for the short template codes for a variety of userboxes... some of mine are longer code, too, I think. -FisherQueen (Talk) 10:58, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

I have removed your speedy tag on this article, since it doesn't seem to me to be anything more than a garden-variety stub. I don't see the advertising content here. If you feel the article shouldn't exist, I would recommend you consider proposed deletion or Articles for Deletion instead. (ESkog)(Talk) 14:51, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

I can understand your reasoning. It was part of a group of three or four stubs promoting a single business, and this was the best of them- I'll send it on to AfD. -FisherQueen (Talk) 15:31, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Trying to figure this out...

First time using Wikipedia for anything other than learning something new, but I was browsing around and came across your profile FisherQueen.. Feel like I know you from somewhere, but I really don't know how to directly email you and see if I am right, either way, this area of Wikipedia is far too confusing.. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Fastaire33 (talkcontribs) 19:38, 3 April 2007 (UTC).

Thanks also for updating. I added some info, thanks for adding more and clearing up what I did. I have pleanty of RMN related pictures, especially from GC2004 (I am on the board of directors) that I took and have the right to use, but I don't know how to add them. Can we put up the RMN logo? I also just made some minor edits. Nothing major. --R0bbiegill 19:27, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Fantastic! Instructions on how to upload images is at Wikipedia:Uploading images. It's not quite as complicated as it looks... sort of. You just need to make sure that you use the tags provided to make it clear that you have the right to give Wikipedia permission to use and distribute the image. I think. I've messed up in adding images often enough to feel like it's wiser to just point you toward the relevant instructions and wish you luck. If you can get one or two pictures uploaded that capture the spirit of RMN, I'd be happy to help add them to the article. I don't think there's any problem with using the logo; it seems like it would be appropriate to add.
On a personal note, since I've got a Board of Directors person right here- thanks. The Reconciling Ministries saved either my faith or my sanity... I don't know which way it would have gone, but being part of a reconciling church transformed my life. I'm sure you hear that all the time, but I'm going to say it again anyway. -FisherQueen (Talk) 19:09, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Blocked

Fisherqueen, I am puzzled as to why I have been blocked after warning me that my last change was bias. The warning stated that I would be blocked if I continued to re-post the information, I did not. Instead I contacted you after reading your Neutral point of view policy and offered to re-word my post. This seems a little harsh, after all I've never shown any malice to you or this site. Bravedave 00:19, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Well, I'm not FQ but in the interest of getting you a quick answer I'll try to field this one. I checked the block log and don't see that you've been blocked. All I see are a couple of warnings to your talk page, but no official action taken. I'll copy this to your talk page so that you see it. Philippe 02:57, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm going to go with Philippe on this one; I don't see anything in your block log. I'd like to point out that I'm not an admin, so I don't have the power to block you. If you get blocked, it'll be someone else who does it. If you were blocked, you would not have been able to post this message on my talk page. -FisherQueen (Talk) 10:18, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism on bacon

In regards to your edit summary, I think the article is vandalized because Bacon is a "funny" word. The cultural commons (and I mean the commons) is littered with phrases like your "everybody loves bacon". It's an easy punchline, and an obvious target for juvenile humor. --Eyrian 20:09, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. I cannot see any reason why information about a private server is helpful or informative in an encyclopedia meant to inform a general audience. Nor can I see any reasonable way that this information can be attributed to a reliable source. If you are aware of a Wikipedia guideline that would support adding this detail to the article, I hope you'll bring it to my attention. If not, please stop adding it. -FisherQueen (Talk) 10:25, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Ok ok, I have been informed that I should keep that information to myself. But it would have been useful to post it here for people that didn't know about it if I hadn't been told to keep my mouth shut. Like I said, sometimes Cascade does make exceptions and lets decent people onto his "Private Server". And whoever said it wasn't a reliable source? Seems like you just don't know anything about it. You madam, have just been owned. :P -Plasmastar — Preceding unsigned comment added by Plasmastar (talkcontribs)

A reliable source is something published independent from anyone associated with the game. Have any newspapers, magazines, or online reviews of the game discussed this server? In addition, while comments like "you have just been owned" and "you just don't know anything about it" are appropriate in some places, they are not considered civil in Wikipedia, where we try hard to stay polite. You can sign any post by adding four tildes- that's the little ~ squiggly thing. -FisherQueen (Talk) 00:35, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Image

Hi FisherQueen!

Very good question. I've had a brief poke about, and you're right, nobody states ownership or gives a source for the photograph. My best guess is that it comes from a book on the subject - there's one mentioned on the stated source for the image.

Whilst the image might be old enough to be copyright-expired, I'll lay money that the hand-colouring is modern and thus the image is a derivative; if so, that renews the copyright (in favour of the person who created the derivative). So, the original image: I'd be pretty sure we could use it; this version: I'd be pretty sure we'd not be able to.

An option of course is to go to Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission - somewhere off that page there's a nice template letter you can send to request permission under a free license from the webmaster of one of the sites. That'd solve all problems... although if the image comes from a book, I don't know how much that permission would be worth.

Sorry I can't be more definite here!   REDVERS  SЯEVDEЯ  13:08, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

I guess it's off to the library for me, to find the book that uses the image and gives more information about its origins- or I can see if the webmaster at Grand Guignol Online knows more about it. Thanks for your advice. -FisherQueen (Talk) 13:10, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

My Outrageous Editing

My editing was quit justly, but since there is no proof that certain teachers or events exist. i cannot add to the MSHS site. time for a bit of a lecture mate. Lets start with sources, talk about reliable sources for instance. how can sources be reliable? or maybe how sources, are sources? usually sources are based on eye witnesses. most courts, decide if a man was a murderer if there was an eye witness to the situation if they recount everything perfectly to coicide with all of events the suspected was jailed or put to death row. Hence can we say that eye witness is a reliable source??? has to be doesnt it becuase that reliable source did have the a man put in jail or death. as an eye witness to many of the events that happens in MSHS, people, well courts, can deem me as an eye witness to situation. the funraiser that was mentioned by me. has two eye witnesses. fisher referback to history, a user named timmyboy he mentiones the same funraiser. U said the comments of the fun raiser my defame the image of the school, if i typed in Hitler into wiki pedia or even look it up on a liabry emcyclopedia they mention him killing alot of innocent people to do the wrong thing. "one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter" but isnt encyclopedia's ment to be neutral??? some comments i over exaggerate but they again there are some which are true events becuase i was an eye witness —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Thiskid4 (talkcontribs) 13:21, 13 April 2007 (UTC).

Have you read the reliable sources guidelines? They answer many of your questions, and explain what we consider to be a reliable source- an independent publication, with standards of fact-checking. Wikipedia doesn't accept the reports of eyewitnesses, because we aren't a forum for original research. We require that information be of a sort that other readers can check for themselves and verify accuracy for. That helps us keep the encyclopedia clear of false information. -FisherQueen (Talk) 13:45, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
wait there were two eye witnesses to the account of the problems. of the funraiser —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Thiskid4 (talkcontribs) 08:17, 14 April 2007 (UTC).
I refer you to the third sentence in my reply above. Wikipedia doesn't accept the reports of eyewitnesses, because we aren't a forum for original research. People posting anonymously on the internet sometimes lie, misinterpret the facts, misunderstand what they saw... we require our information to come from reliable, published sources. This encyclopedia article explains what this school is and why it is significant, and we're planning for it to still be here in a hundred years. A hundred years from now, will it still be important that the school once held a fundraiser that a few students thought wasn't fair? -FisherQueen (Talk) 13:04, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
of course this is a major event in the school's history. i would know you don't — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thiskid4 (talkcontribs)
Which leads me to give the same answer that I have given at least three times already. If it's a major event in the school's history, all you need to do is verify that using reliable sources. If you can't verify the facts with reliable sources, then they aren't appropriate for Wikipedia. If not even the local newspaper reported on it, then it's probably not a major event in the school's history. -FisherQueen (Talk) 21:55, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

It's okay if you win--it'll force me to do some focused work here. And thanks for the update!

And I'm back! I was supposed to be back home last night, but got stuck in Newark for 26 hours. I've also contracted some horrible French cold which will probably turn out to be bird flu or something, so I'm not sure that I'll be back to editing for another few days. Ugh. Omihalcon

Sorry to ask, why my entry of the metal Omihalcon for the fiction Spriggan was removed? Wow168 05:03, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Was it related to a novel? The entry didn't make that clear at all- it had no details, no sources, and I couldn't even figure out what it was talking about. I googled the term and didn't find any references to the word except as an alternate spelling for this historic/mythical metal, so I redirected it there. If it's more notable from this work of fiction, you'll need a sourced article that makes that significance clear. -FisherQueen (Talk) 10:46, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Good idea, I think. I'm on my first break of the day and haven't looked back at the article since yesterday, but I'll check out what's going on and weigh in. -FisherQueen (Talk) 18:01, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your reply to my Talk page. I have gotten consistently inconsistent replies about the concept of external links. Can you provide me a specific citation in the Wikipedia guidelines which addresses linking specifically to forums. I have had others say the quality of the link and its depth of information is the most important aspect of external linking, and that there were no specific guidelines pro or con regarding forum linking. Further, as the links were a part of the legacy of the article for nearly a year, and that collectively these sites contain more relevant, updated (the GLAAD site for example hasn't been updated in many, many months) and ongoing information, I'm not sure that the dis-inclusion of these resources is appropriate if one judges the value of the information found therein. Thanks!

If I've gone against a consensus that you reached on the talk page, I apologize- I was going with the usual interpretation of WP:RS and assumed you were a drive-by spamlinker. If y'all have already decided on these links on the talk page of the article, then I'll leave them alone. -FisherQueen (Talk) 17:02, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
In this case I don't think a consensus matters. WP:EL Links to be avoided #10 is pretty clearly against forum links unless there is a very compelling reason to ignore the guideline.--Isotope23 17:13, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
Well, I'm pretty sure he didn't have consensus to add forum links- just wanted to encourage him to go to the talk page rather than to me. -FisherQueen (Talk) 17:23, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

IndieRobLB 17:03, 22 April 2007 (UTC) Thanks for helping me out. I'm not too sure why it got deleted - I thought it was something I did to begin with... I wanted to added a Wikipedia article as I feel this band is getting a lot of exposure at the moment and it would be a source of information if there was a Wikipedia Article on them too... I'm not sure if that's right though
