Mobile17

Mobile17 is a website created by Ben Guild (also known by the nickname "smash") that has enabled users to create mobile-content (such as ringtones and graphics) at no-charge. When initially launched in 2005, it sported the name "SmashTheTones"; but after being featured on the now defunct TechTV's "The Screen Savers" and reviewed in Sarah Lane's 'Damn Good Download' weekly segment, (video-clip on YouTube) the site was revamped and the project's name matured from "SmashTheTones" to "Mobile17".

To this day the site thrives on the demand for user-generated cellphone content, and has been praised in publications such as Popular Science and Men's Health magazines, as well as The Boston Globe.
