Sunny Leone (born May 13, 1981 in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada) is an Indian-Canadian model and pornographic actress. She is best known for winning Penthouse magazine's Pet of the Year title for 2003. She is also noted for being one of the few pornographic actresses with an Indian Punjabi background.[1][2]

Sunny recently signed a new contract with Vivid Entertainment, the world's leading adult film company, in which she will perform with men for the first time in her career. Her first movie under her new contract is titled Sunny Loves Matt co-starring Matt Erickson. On March 2, 2008, it was released.

Career

Leone's father was born in Tibet and raised in New Delhi, while her mother is from a small town called Nahan, Himachal Pradesh.[3] Her family moved to California in 1996. After graduating high school in 1999, she began modeling and eventually transitioned into nude modeling. Leone began appearing in many magazines and websites in the nude, and eventually posed in a layout for Penthouse magazine in 2001 (Pet of the Month March), as well as being featured in the Holiday 2001 edition of Hustler magazine as a Hustler Honey. Her popularity and beauty allowed her to win the 2003 Penthouse Pet of the Year award. She mostly does softcore modeling and videos, both solo and lesbian.

She has signed an exclusive contract with Vivid Entertainment, where she has now moved into hardcore videos. In 2004, she was part of "No more Bush Girls", where along with several other popular adult actresses, they shaved off their pubic hair in protest of the Bush presidency. Her first release under vivid was titled Sunny[4], and was followed by her 2006 release, Virtual Vivid Girl Sunny Leone (which took four days to film[5]). She was the first Vivid star to have such an interactive feature ever.

In June 2006, Leone became an American citizen.[5]

Her follow up movie, Sunny and Cher, was released in October 2006, and her most recent release was The Female Gardener which was released in January 2007. She stars in the remake of Debbie does Dallas...Again, the first Vivid movie to be released on Blu-Ray Disc and HD DVD, starring as Christie, released in April 2007. Her last movie released to date was It's Sunny in Brazil.

On May 9, 2007, Leone announced that she has signed a deal to appear in up to six more movies for Vivid Entertainment. As part of the contract, she will be performing with men for the first time in her adult career. Her first movie under the new contract is titled Sunny Loves Matt, and co-stars Matt Erickson,[6] who was her fiancé at the time.[7] The movie is released in March, 2008.

In February 2008, it was announced that Sunny Leone will be the first adult performer to star in a Bollywood film. Filming for Pirate's Blood[8] occurred over two weeks in February 2008 in Sur, Oman. This English-language thriller will also star Salim Bahwan,[9] and is slated for worldwide theatrical release in May or June 2008.

In an interview to an online magazine Sunny Leone expressed her interest to act in Bollywood movies and model in India.[10]

Personal life

In an interview for pmpnetwork.com she has admitted that had she never left Canada, she would have been a different person and not gone into the adult industry. Her parents (who are both of Indian descent) are aware of her career and support her, although they want her to discontinue it. She is finishing college and intends to become a pediatric nurse.

In an interview with the Toronto Star, she has indicated that she would be getting married in March 2008,[2] but her fiance broke up with her just prior to Christmas 2007 saying that "she deserved someone better than him".[11]

Shot gruelingly over a two-week period along the remote Sur coastline of Oman with a mixed crew Pirate's Blood-described by Canadian-American associate producer Steg Dorr as a vehicle for Sunny Leone-is slate for worldwide theatrical release in May/June.
