Trivia Section?

I believe someone should add a trivia section to this article. It could include information about her tattoos, piercings, and the information about her theme songs (her themes don't belong in an "other media" type category because they relate to wrestling). I think this might decrease the amount of vandalism and random additions by people who constantly add info about her tattoos, piercings, etc. What does everyone else think? Nikki311 02:26, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. I'm for it. If someone can gather enough info to begin the section, why not? --JohnDoe0007 10:32, 30 March 2007 (UTC.Ashley in 18983 in june 87 and she want to be an famuos person. ashley want to be the singer and she tstart to sing when she was 15 year old. ashley love high school musical, and she really beatifull. but then ashley has new job and she plan to change her nise last november and now she has one another petty nose too,

Playboy

Don't edit out her history with Playboy Enterprises, which was confirmed by both PEI & WWE. Regardless of your feelings it is a fact that she posed and like it or not is relevant to an encyclopedia article as part of her story. STFmaryville 03:50, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Accuracy dispute

The personal section is off the brink of breaking WP:LIVING requirements. It says that her family members are pro wrestlers, but supplies no wikilink to the wrestlers in question, or sources stating such. I deleted the crufty triva stuff. "She loves rock music" sounds like a fan biography. Wikipedia is not the place to have rumors, and the part about relationships is full of them. Also, without souces, I'm taking all her info about her boyfriends as made up. Please supply sources for them. --LBMixPro <Speak|on|it!> 23:38, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I DO recall Ashley stating shortly after appearing on WWE that she was related to some wrestlers (I had commented to my wife wondering if that had anything to do with her win) but I don't think she ever named the wrestlers in question and I cannot recall the date of the show airing ...

I supplied sources for a few things that were asking for references. :] 58.165.68.237 22:21, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Wellplease don't reference a fan site and then call it an official site, as you did with ashley-revealed.com . Clearly stated on the first page of that site, "I am not Ashley Massaro. We are no way affiliated with Ashely Massaro OR World Wrestling Entertainment. Ashley Revealed is just a fansite." STFmaryville 20:27, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't. There was a reference to Ashley Massaro's official site, ashleymassaro.net, in one part of the article, and another to Ashley Revealed.

Also, how is being on a magazine cover an accomplishment? It isn't. Otherwise alot of celebrities and wrestlers accomplishment sections would be full of them. Whoever keeps adding it, kindly don't. 58.165.77.47 23:03, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just because you don't consider it an accomplishment doesn't mean it isn't relevant. Listing that she was selected to be on the cover of one of the longest running and most popular publications in the world is relevant to an encyclopædic article. Yes, I'll concede, being a hood ornament for a hot rod on the cover of Lowrider isn't exactly noteworthy, but having a main spread and cover story in Playboy magazine is worth mentioning. That plus the large role her being featured has played in her professional wrestling career and the attention brought to the WWE because of it. --JohnDoe0007 11:15, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I see where the mix-up has taken place. When I put that as a reference, I didn't mean that Ashley Revealed itself was Ashley's official site (I know that ashleymassaro.net has that title), I meant that the biography USED ON Ashley Revealed was taken from Ashleymassaro.net... I couldn't link to said biography, however, because last time I checked, Ashleymassaro.net is under construction. So there's where the mix-up has taken place. 124.187.74.234 21:36, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Look

What's wrong with having this here? Massaro has three small tattoos of black asian lettering running vertically down her lower back and a small butterfly tattoo on her lower stomach/hip. She had two additional tattoos since entering WWE officially; two large nautical stars, one just above each elbow. She also has the upperside of her left lip pierced (called a Madonna/Monroe) and the left and right undersides of her bottom lip pierced (called a Snakebite). It's stuff that relates to her character and her own personality. Mr.bonus 00:02, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps putting it in a relevant section like suggested above... --JohnDoe0007 11:17, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's good information. Edge's page gets mention of his tattoos, and things like this are relevant because they aren't things that apply to every person who has a page on Wikipedia and so ought to be mentioned. This text holds extra information (that links to other subjects) - I didn't know what these types of piercing were called, or what a nautical star was, now I do. Playboy Cover

Fr3nZi3 (talk · contribs) removed the image illustrating Ashley's Playboy cover stating it's "not needed"...I feel that it's a valid addition to the article, as her covergirl status plays a big role not only in the article but in her WWE/professional career. What do you guys think? --JohnDoe0007 22:35, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Her notable covergirl status can be mentioned in the article only with text. We should be using unfree material only when highly necessary. There's a difference between a magazine issue being notable and it's cover being notable. We use a cover image only when the 2nd is true. --Abu badali (talk) 23:36, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What are you talking about? I've seen this guy's (Abu badali) edit history and he's a copyright paranoia sufferer. Take a look for yourself. Trevor GH5 01:44, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I looked over the copyright policies and this guy's got issues. Trevor GH5 01:54, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I put it back in with a fair use rational. This guy will probably try to have it deleted, that's his M.O. Pathetic. Trevor GH5 02:01, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your input as well as the fair use rational, Trevor. I am in agreement with you. There is no reason the image shouldn't be there. Of course: THERE IS NO FREE ALTERNATIVE. I appreciate the help. Please check out the Torrie Wilson page as well if you know much about wrestling...I would love to hear your thoughts on the changes being made there too. --JohnDoe0007 19:04, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You, or anyone else, who wants to keep the Playboy cover in the article needs to go to the image page and click on the link that says "Images and media for deletion" and comment there. Trevor GH5 23:32, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Didn't someone upload a free-use pic of Massaro's Playboy celebration, focusing on the cover? If so, then that can possibly be used instead of the one we have now. --wL<speak·check> 02:59, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
A good way to get a free-use image of the Playboy cover is for someone to take a picture of the actual magazine. You'd get a clearer view than any pictures taken from Massaro's Playboy Cover Unveiling. Does anybody have a copy and want to add a pic of the cover? Nikki311 03:56, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(resetting indents) - That will fail fair use, as the focus is still on the cover. --wL<speak·check> 06:57, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Any shmuck can take a photo of a magazine cover...but how in the hell does that make it a "FREE USE" image? It's still a pic of a copyrighted piece of material. I don't care how many times you photograph it, even if it's a picture of a picture of a picture of the cover, it's still Playboy's cover. That's like suggesting as long as you go into the movie theater and video tape the movie yourself, you can release your video to the public domain and the whole damn film is now "free use." Absolutely asinine.

Now WikiLeon may be on to something with someone taking a live action photo of her in the ring and a picture of the cover "happens" to be in the background, but I still don't see how that would work. I don't care what you do, a Playboy cover is going to be owned by Playboy...THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE...it's completely fair use, especially for these purposes. and on top of that, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH FAIR USE? WHAT ARE ALL YOU PEOPLE AFRAID OF? --JohnDoe0007 06:38, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It could be all in that header under every article title: "From Wikipedia, The free encyclopedia" (notice where I linked the word "free"). It's not really a matter of paranoia or anyting like that, but the aim of Wikipedia (and the reason this site exists) is to be an encyclopedia that could be edited by anybody - including its images. Fair use doesn't allow that. The concept of fair use is very limited at the English Wikipedia (some other language ones don't even allow Fair Use whatsoever). If you read the first part of WP:FU it tells why we have fair use here, as well as why we don't allow some fair use. If you feel you have something to say about the fair use policy, it's best if you direct it to the policy's talk page. They'll give you a better understanding about it. As I said above, the emphasis is on the event, other than the cover, the picture will provide a visual analysis on how WWE celebrated Massaro's cover. --wL<speak·check> 06:54, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The picture has been kept

So there's no need to remove it anymore. Trevor GH5 12:07, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ashley on Survivor

Through a myspace bulletin and pwheadlines.com, Ashley will be appearing on the next season of Survivor. This explains her suspension from WWE. Lbkid1700 04:57, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say not to mention this in the article unless there are reports from WWE.com and CBS.com. - Deep Shadow 05:23, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't appreciate my edit being deleted without any explanation or consideration. Wikipedia does not require verification from WWE or CBS. The sources I referenced are extremely reliable. Therefore, the info is at least worth mentioning, if not as definitive. Forweg 08:59, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In situations like this, only official sources are used. Anything else is considered unreliable, no matter how highly you regard it. - Deep Shadow 09:09, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I cannot find this Wikipedia policy. Please, point it out to me. Forweg 09:29, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
WP:V, WP:RS, WP:NOR and WP:CS. Good enough? - Deep Shadow 09:37, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I see nothing about "official" sources in any of those articles. Only "reliable" sources. Which Survivor Fever and True Dork Times most certainly are. Forweg 09:59, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'd call them questionable. Where do they get their information from? All I see on True Dork Times is "WWE rumors she's a contestant" and SurvivorFever.net redirects to an online forum. Not exactly reliable sources. - Deep Shadow 10:42, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
They're reliable because of their track records. I don't believe either have ever gotten a cast spoiler wrong. Regardless, my edit wasn't asserting the Survivor appearance as infallible fact, nor is it necessary to do so. When a "rumor" such as this becomes so utterly widespread, I think it deserves mentioning. Unfortunately, scholars and CNN don't tend to cover Survivor nor the WWE much, so other, less canonized (but no less reliable) sources must be used. Forweg 11:08, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was the first one to report this and someone deleted it. Anyway I think we should add it who care what WWE or CBS thinks this is a true life fac about her and it should be added so I am going to add it so no one delete it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Darius123 (talkcontribs)

Just a "heads up": some Survivor spoiler sites have already proclaimed Ashley's fate in the series. This is a reminder that fan-driven sites - spoiler or otherwise - do not generally meet the criteria for WP:RS, and spoiler information should not be included into either this article or the one in the series. When the episode in question is aired, you'll have all the reliable sources that would ever be needed for the appropriate inclusion of information. 147.70.242.40 19:58, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Ashley"

Wikipedia guidelines specify using the last name of the subject after the first mention. Calling her "Ashley" all over just reeks of fan-magazine writing. As the article is semi-protected, could a non-IP user please go in and make this non-controversial change? --69.22.254.111 20:59, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think the reasoning behind this is because her surname isn't referred to in ring. Her de facto ring name is merely Ashley. Statements about her personal life refer to her as Massaro. Tony2Times (talk) 02:37, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is she actually ever going to return to the WWE, or is she gonna get released? WWEBoffin0101 20:06, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nooo. Her contract with Survivor states that she cannot return to the WWE until the show is completely wrapped. She is making an appearance for the finale, and then she will be allowed to return. Also, she put up a picture of her pink cast, which is on the same wrist as the cast she had before, but the opposite wrist of the one she had the brace on during several recent photos/events. Dating London

On Ashley's MySpace page updated on 2/14/08, all references to London had been removed and she had posted a blog concerning spending Valentine's Day alone. I also conferred with a source close to him that has confirmed they are no longer a couple Thewrestlingbabe1 (talk) 04:47, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's all well and good, but you can't just remove a section that was sourced. Her relationship with London happened, and it's sourced, so it should stay in the article. Please don't remove it again. Gavyn Sykes (talk) 04:50, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ashley at WrestleMania 24

It was officially confirmed by WWE yesterday that Ashley will wrestle at WrestleMania 24. I was just wondering why that piece of information keeps getting removed if it isn't a spoiler and has been made official by WWE. It isn't like it's not notable, as she is going to wrestle at the biggest PPV of the year. ErikNY (talk) 00:43, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

FBI bust of escort ring

Regarding the bust of the escort ring, in which Ashley has been implicated, I posted the following news from Dave Meltzer: "There is an interesting twist here that hasn't come out. There is a bikini model named Ashley Massaro from Las Vegas, who is younger than the WWE's Ashley Massaro and the two are often confused because they look similar. It wouldn't shock me that they are mistaking the two."

The source of Meltzer's article was also posted (http://www.wrestlingobserver.com/wo/news/headlines/default.asp?aID=22743), yet the contribution was removed with a "So what?" asked on the history page.

If Ashley's rebuttal on her MySpace page is a valid source, then why is Meltzer's backing up of her rebuttal not? Destroda (talk) 01:30, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Because Ashley never was paid for sex, and the information on the bust is already in the article, what more should be added? Also the "So what?" was a misleading typo by me, as i wrongfully clicked it in my history box. --~SRS~ 01:35, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Currently we have the word of Rolling Stone and the FBI against Ashley's, so it wouldn't hurt to have another source noting that there is another woman/model with the same name who could very easily be the "Ashley Massaro" listed in the escort agency's records. Destroda (talk) 01:44, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As of right now, WWE Ashley was the one mentioned in the Rolling Stone story. The fact there is another Ashley Massaro out there and that it might be a mistake is speculation until it is proven to be so. Nikki311 02:19, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Though I see where you're coming from and concede the point, I still feel Meltzer's comments are more noteworthy than those posted on Ashley's blog. Her statement is basically, "Nuh-uh! Wasn't me." Whereas Meltzer's states why it might not be her. But I'll drop it. Destroda (talk) 02:32, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ashley's Release

I'm hearing rumors that the Myspace blog where Ashley is discussing her release may be fake; some are questioning discrepancies between her latest blog and previous blogs and wondering whether the account has been hacked.

Some things to consider (read the blogs carefully):

  1. In all her other blogs, she didn't use the number "2" in place of the word "to".
  2. She said her daughter is sick. With what? It's not like she hasn't been sick since she was born.
  3. In her last blog she said : "I'm gonna be training in Cackalacki at a ring near Greensville with Shane coming up so, hopefully we'll have some new moves to execute upon my arrival. " Why train to come back if she's leaving?
  4. No capitalization at the beginning of her sentences, which she has always done before.
  5. Signed off with "Dirty Dirty"; she's never signed off with that before; she usually signs off with Dirty Diva or Ash. Doesn't "Dirty Dirty" sound a little inappropriate if she's talking about her sick daughter?
  6. She's never even reported she HAD a daughter before. No one in the world knew about her.

The above reasons were compiled by others but I've checked it out myself and verified it. Maybe we should wait for a WWE.com report on her release before calling it official? DoomsDay349 04:29, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
