You may use warning templates

Hi Jim. Just a friendly reminder, when you warn a user, you may use user warning templates. They are a lot quicker than just typing out warnings. It saves a lot of time, and it won't be so exhausting. I have noticed that in your recent warnings to User talk:LowLester, and User talk:Westvoja. Also, don't forget to use edit summary's on your edits. Because vandals don't use edit summary's, which makes it very clear to spot on the recent changes. Just a friendly reminder. Take care. Some artistic bird pictures.

Dunno if you are aware of these Von Wright images on commons, but i personally happen to think they are very cool. (But then, I am most definitely biased, since I learned the names of all the birds in the book before I learned to talk in sentences, by these self same images.) -- Cimon Avaro; on a pogostick. (talk) 07:19, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nemo problemo, I saw that they aren't linked very well into the Aves category on commons. Most likely partly because the artist is known as both an ornithologist and a painter, though being Swedish the use of "fåglar" rather than birds in the title may play a part, too. -- Cimon Avaro; on a pogostick. (talk) 07:33, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jim, I'm just going through adding links to commons/wikispecies and I noticed that you've removed my video-clip thumb and replaced it with a link....is this really neccessary? As there is no other media apart from a painting, I don't feel there is any need to remove it at this juncture. I'd be quite pleased if the clip was replaced with something better but as (I feel) it is a quite reasonable one, I've re-instated it. I'm putting a lot of my spare-time in trying to add content to these pages and get a bit peeved when someone replaces it without offering anything very constructive in it's place. Hope you see my point, I'm not trying to start an 'edit-war'. Aviceda talk 08:56, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Halo - Interactive Strategy Game

Could you please inform to me on why this page was deleted? The summary states it was blatent advertising, but the only thing close to it was a link to the advert. Another user had been arguing with me that the entire article was solely to Advertise the game... could you please check it on the Undelete so I can get a third person perspective?OsirisV (talk) 17:43, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My error, Halo wikia. Still not a reliable source jimfbleak (talk) 19:02, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You deleted Trango Wireless I made and calming advertising. I was stating the capability of the technology and am in no way affiliated with these company's in fact I am a user of there competitor. I just happen to know about them and I sited my source as there pages which state there stats. I spent allot of time creating these pages just for you to come in and tear it up. Please if you find something wrong with my work change it don't kill it. I have been working with wireless internet for five years and I want to make it slightly easier for someone to learn about it and your not helping things out. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Frankmccown (talkcontribs) 01:46, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am currently trying to create a page for the WPAS based on the information that we have on our website, about our organization and history and the performances we offer in Washington, D.C. As we are a society that offers many services to the greater D.C. community, I see in no way how we are "advertising" anything, except to inform the public of our organization. Could you please let me know exactly which parts you would consider to be "advertising"? Thank you. WPAS (talk) 14:28, 9 September 2008 (UTC)WPASWPAS (talk) 14:28, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WPAS

Washington Performing Arts Society is a legitimate and notable organization in the Washington, D.C. area. I came across the article and am removing the promotional material now. Please stop deleting it. —Largo Plazo (talk)

OK, you've deleted it again. The article asserts the notability of its topic and I had already edited the promotional aspects of it out of the article. Is there some reason why you feel strongly that Wikipedia should not carry an article about the Washington Performing Arts Society? —Largo Plazo (talk) 14:46, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As far as the copyright violation issue is concerned, I did not create the article. I just used the Recreate option that was presented to me when the article was deleted out from under me while I was fixing up the article. Regarding "The page is protected now due to persistent recreation without even waiting for the reasons" I don't know what you mean by "without even waiting for the reasons". The reason given was that it was promotional. I addressed that immediately and went through the trouble of editing the promotional material out of the article. The copyright violation may have been addressed by the person who originally posted the article, who may well have satisfied the requirements upon having them pointed out to him, if indeed he was with WPAS, as his user name implies.

Next, in regard to the issue of waiting, note that every single deletion occurred within seconds of the placement of the speedy deletion template without leaving any opportunity for a {{hangon}} to be added and without addressing the request to hold off that I left on the talk page. Besides that, recreating the page wasn't a carefully premeditated act. I was editing the article in good faith, and was presented with the option to recreate. Since the editing I was doing was precisely to eliminate the one complaint that had been lodged against the page, I felt entirely justified to use that option when it came up. It wasn't a matter of waiting. I was in the middle of an operation. So please kindly consider all of that before talking about waiting. —Largo Plazo (talk) 15:01, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding notability: the article clearly asserts the notability of the organization. If it fails to establish it, and no one fixes it up to establish its notability, then at the most the article is subject to an ordinary PROD, not a CSD. —Largo Plazo (talk) 15:07, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly, I'm not intending to prolong a rant here, but just wanted to pass on a couple of guidelines, since I thought I'd educate myself more about New Page patrols (which is what I was doing when I came across the article, and, trust me, I've CSDed quite a few articles just in my first 24 hours of patrol):

  • WP:New_pages_patrol#Patrolling_new_pages "It is advisable to patrol new pages from the bottom of the first page of the log. This should give the creating editor enough time to improve a new page before a patroller attends to it, particularly if the patroller tags the page for speedy deletion. Tagging anything other than attack pages or complete nonsense a minute after creation is not constructive and only serves to annoy the page author."
  • WP:New_pages_patrol#New_pages_that_may_require_deletion "Be hesitant to list articles on Wikipedia:Articles for Deletion if there's a chance they could be improved and made into a meaningful article. Tag them for cleanup instead. Try not to step on people's toes. Many times, users will start an article as the briefest of stubs, and then expand it over the succeeding hours or days." This was the tack taken yesterday by someone who responded to me when I marked for speedy deletion an article about David Andrew Smith that was evidently written by the topic himself. Someone else affirmed that the man is notable and I think he tagged it for editing to conform to Wikipedia standards.

Regards. —Largo Plazo (talk) 15:27, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And thanks for your latest note to me. —Largo Plazo (talk) 15:29, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, actually, do you have my latest version from before the final deletion? If I get around to it I'll add a few references to establish notability and put it back up. I'll also let User:WPAS what's going on, since he/she may be perplexed at this point. —Largo Plazo (talk) 15:52, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please help me

You were the one who helped me when my edits regarding Arctic Ptarmigan got vandalized. I have a big problem with a user who keeps vandalizing my talkpage just because I brought an admins attention to that he has created an Article promting his webshop Mybeatshop.com. The page was deleted by an admin, and now he is taking his revenge on my talkpage. How can I solve this problem. Thankful for any help.

I believe all the issues you brought up were solved. How does the article look now? Nergaal (talk) 01:44, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jim,

I believe the Mute Angst Envy page was deleted in error. This band was the second band signed to 21st Circuitry records, and the other bands referenced on 21st Circuitry have Wikipedia pages.

Also, the term "Darkwave" was coined by Don Blanchard of 21st Circuitry, so it makes no sense that all of the other bands that appear under the Darkwave category can appear but not Mute Angst Envy.

I would like to repost the content, and because of the above reasons, it doesn't make sense to me why you would delete it. I understand the importance of governance, so I appreciate your work... However, this page should remain.

P.S. I see you're a birder... cool! Recently got into that myself...

Thanks! Prodoom (talk

Oh, also found this reference for commerical radio (added to page): http://www.rocklists.com/kits-1990.html

Landhoolive

Hello. You deleted Landhoolive as a test page although it was listed for translation. While I agree that it did look weird, it was written in a language spoken on the Maldives. So, foreign language entries are no valid speedy deletion candidates, they should be assessed and translated, and this one was a long article at that. Do you think you can restore that one the translation department can have a look? De728631 (talk) 22:20, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Unfortunately Anthony Appleyard deleted it again. Ah, well. De728631 (talk) 12:55, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jim, would you have time to cast a critical eye over this one. Having finished the introductory article, I think I stand a better chance now than my last attempt at getting this article to FA. Graham. Graham Colm Talk 18:19, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Germanium

Thanks for the review and sorry that I forgot to reply until now. I wasn't really convinced that the article is FA-able since I think it misses a few things (or better said it feels far away from the quality of Yttrium that is under FAC now). Still, I listed it for PR to check weather that is true or I am only assuming things. As for your comments, thanks a lot for for all the details. I don't mind having comments as long as they are specific and helps contributors solve the problems. Happy editing, Nergaal (talk) 04:13, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gin Miller deletion

I noticed you deleted my Gin Miller page that had been started per request of Ms. Miller. She is a significant member of the fitness society, inducted into the Fitness Hall of Fame in 2006. A simple google search of her name would have provided you the information you needed to see this; the page is a work in progress.

Higher Ed Systems

Dear Jimfbleak, why did you delete Higher Ed Systems? I was about to expand it, and you deleted it. If you believe Higher Ed Systems shouldn't have a Wikipedia article, you should nominate it for deletion. It takes some time to develop articles. AdjustShift (talk) 16:26, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not an experienced editor, but I'm learning things fast. After you deleted Higher Ed Systems, I learned much about how a new Wikipedia article should be. Higher Ed Systems is notable and it should have a Wikipedia article. I think the response of User:Jayvdb will be critical. I'll talk about this later. AdjustShift (talk) 16:52, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the kind words. I'll talk with you later. I want to talk about this with User:Jayvdb. Hopefully, we can solve this. :-) AdjustShift (talk) 17:03, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Longtailedskua93.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:30, 14 September 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -Nard 19:30, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, Jim, running through FAC, I just had to add two {{unsigned}} templates to declarations you entered. Maybe you're in a hurry today ?  :-)) I need a signature with every declaration. Best, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:36, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Goblin Fruit

No idea how that fruit might taste, but I undid your deletion to bundle it for AfD with the author and her other two books, where the speedies had been declined by another admin and me. --Tikiwont (talk) 09:38, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

LaRoza

The page was deleted. The reason stated was that there was not any mention of the notability of the person in question. I submit that the person (LaRoza) is well known in the technical community and is a very active moderator at a highly frequented forum. LaRoza also has contributed to open source projects. If there is there a need to expand, I will do more research. Also, I do not wish to create a page that will be deleted for lack of substance. Please advise. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lukjad007 (talkcontribs) 10:43, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You can sign your comments automatically using four tildes ~~~~. I deleted your recent article because it did not provide independent verifiable sources that it meets the notability guidelines. It also came close to a promotional or vanity page with unsourced claims like a helpful, friendly personality or LaRoza is known for helping out many people and helping with teaching people jimfbleak (talk) 12:24, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, this is not my page. I have never seen it. I was planning on (re)creating it from scratch but didn't want to start without knowing what was wrong. Is there a way of seeing the original so I can see what when wrong?
