Why did you delete this (protected against recreation) Wiktionary redirect? --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 08:23, 20 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, if you would undelete (or I can do it) I think it would be best. It would be inactive, of ocurse, because it's protected; also, the attempts to recreate it are widely spaced. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 08:33, 20 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

From a new admin

Leaving 'thanks for the vote' messages on your talk page seems to have become something of a fashion. I hope you're not too fed up with yet another one. Actually, I thought that responding to those wo had voted in my recent RfA would be a good way to broaden my WP community links. I would value your support and advice as I excercise my new sysop buttons, but I also hope that we'll be able to support each other in resolving conflicts on WP. Just let me know. Thanks. --Gareth Hughes 10:27, 21 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Tomf688 RFA vote

I'm trying to make sure that I take the time to thank everyone who voted in my RfA, and verify that they don't have any concerns over my experience, neutrality, etc. If you have a problem, please drop a line on my talk page and I will answer it as best as I can. Again, thank you. --tomf688{talk} 14:37, 23 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure why you decided to unprotect this User talk page. Yes, he is permabanned, but he can still be disruptive/offensive with edits such as this. I think The Anome had the right idea there... Your call. Owen× 20:07, 23 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

question

Thanks for the welcome note! Is there a way to hide or erase a contribution? I was showing Wikipedia to a friend who then decided to edit the sex slang page, but didn't log out for me.MrBee 00:49, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please cut me some slack

It seems to me from some of your comments about the Answers.com thing that you don't have the full information. I hope that you'll be so kind as to cut me some slack before jumping to conclusions.

You're one of my favorites, and I hope that I'm one of yours. So, you know, we can probably relax just a little bit and seek information?--Jimbo Wales 05:34, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry

It's not that I'm trying to blame any particular person, least of all you, for trying to commercialize Wikipedia. I simply think that going so far as to put a link on the sidebar is too active a thing to do for a friend of Wikipedia. I will openly admit that I've probably been way too harsh. I think I'll remove myself from the "Participants" section of the No Ads WikiProject.

I'm just... flattered(?) --Merovingian (t) (c) (e) 05:45, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The link in the sidebar should be there anyway, and that's entirely unrelated. The link is to our existing "Tools" page, not to their software. Any link to their software will be approved of in the usual way by the community on the Tools page, or it will not appear at all. I was very very careful to structure this deal in such a way as to include the community.

If the community really wants to link to all kinds of proprietary software on that page, and then boycott the one bit of proprietary software which offers to donate money to the community, I'll be very surprised. But if that happens, then that happens.--Jimbo Wales 05:50, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks for watching over my user page. I appreciate your vigilance. Nice ASCII art too, by the way! — Knowledge Seeker 07:50, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Could you remove or at least shoren this thing:

The editor of the Sunday Independent apologises to readers and the family of Irish politician Liam Lawlor for wrongly claiming Lawlor was with a teenage prostitute when he was killed in a Moscow car crash on Saturday. However Britain's The Observer controversially refuses to apologise for publishing the now disproven claim.

It clearly does not belong with hurricanes, plane crashes, elections and etc. Renata3 18:15, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Forever Yesterday

Please stop reverting the Forever Yesterday page. Wikipedia maintains a policy on musical artists, one of the key points of this being that the artist much be representative of a particular music scene. The "Pittsburgh rock scene" is represented well enough by other groups, and if you feel like marginalizing and saying they represent the "North Central Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area rock scene", well, then we can debate the merit of keeping the article (even though you won't win). Right now, I'm just concerned with the legality of it, as defined by Wikipedia's standards.

Thank you

Thanks for your honesty in the matter of my Rfa. Would it be possible if I gave you a reason for why this is happening. Here are some of the votes that are being rallied against me by users who are opposed to my religious beliefs:

By user:Klonimus: [1], [2] [3]
By user:Karl Meier:[4][5]
By user:OceanSplash:[6] [7].

Aside from that I think you will find, that I am a pretty reasonable editor (well, I think anyways :)). Please see my contribs for my efforts. Thank you very much.--a.n.o.n.y.m t 02:08, 25 October 2005 (UTC) [reply]

Signature templates

I was leavign a meassage for User:Screwball23 on another matter, adn i saw you had advised him on how to construct a signature using a template. You may not be aware that signature tempaltes are frowned upon (indeed the preferences page specifically requests that they not be used) because 1) they can be vandalism targets, and 2) they place extra load on the servers every time a page so signed is rendered. Please advise people in future that if they want to use a signature template, use it with the subst keyword, which avoids both of these problems. Thansk. DES (talk) 22:57, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

In place of {{User:Foo/Sig}}, use {{subst:User:Foo/Sig}}. adjust as needed for more complex code. DES (talk) 23:30, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well since its a referendum vote, all votes in 'support,' 'remit,' and 'neutral' would be in favor of not desysopping me. If thats not the way others read it, then its Arbcom's fault for not specifying a clear process, and that seems to be a good basis for a review of the case. -St|eve 05:10, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

phobias

It is useless to redirect them to -phobia article, since they are no more but dicdefs, i.e., a fair game for the wiktionary. But I am open to counter-arguments. My changes are not accidental: I am doing a major clean-up in a number of lists plagued with silliness: -phobia, -phil-, List of Freemasons, etc. It goed slowly, since there are many other things to do. mikka (t) 01:24, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your signature

I'm probably terribly late but I really liked your multicoloured signature and would love for you to have it back. Do consider re-instating it (you're new one is dull) :) --Celestianpower háblame 21:09, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It used to be at User:Merovingian/sig didn't it? Could you not just copy that into the nickname box in your preferences and chack raw signatures. taht is of course assuming you haven't tried this yet, which is unlikely. --Celestianpower háblame 23:13, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I was just wondering if you had been to RuneScapeWiki recently. I've left a few comments on your talk page, and yet I see you are a lot more active on here than there. After just checking your user contributions on RuneScapeWiki, you have not edited since September 21st, and on here you have last edited today. I don't want to push you or anything, but do you think you could occasionally check back there, perhaps for talk-page messages or just to see how the wiki's going? Dear Merovingian,

The List of country names in various languages, List of European regions with alternative names, List of European cities with alternative names, List of European rivers with alternative names, and others, have come under attack by a certain Mikka, who, having just stumbled into all these lists, having found them of little use to himself, and having repeatedly ridiculed them and their users, has then promptly filed a petition to delete the lists in question.

Please cast your vote to keep these valuable, informative, and indeed fascinating lists at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of country names in various languages.

Thanks! 69.25.77.51 16:44, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
