I think you'd want to use an articles for deletion template for that one, not miscellany for deletion, which is used for things that aren't articles (like userpages). It doesn't meet any of the criteria for speedy deletion. It might be better to add substance to it than to delete it; there are articles about other specific sports seasons, I think. I don't know much about the sports articles, though, and try to avoid getting my ignorance on them too much. :) -FisherQueen (talk · contribs)14:05, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
User:Hardtosay11 is restoring the edits of USEDfan's latest sock puppet on various articles, see the contribs. Based on past experience, I'm willing to bet USEDfan has at least 5 or 6 sock puppets editing currently, all on his old favorite articles, such as Ratchet & Clank series. Do you think a checkuser would uncover them and confirm this new account, like Raul has done in the past, or will they say "checkuser is not for fishing?" Hello, FisherQueen, I hope you are having a nice time while away :). I wanted to let you know this new user has already been indef blocked by User:Shell Kinney. at the Al Qamishli talkback I posted a new section at the bottom. Anyway theirs this guy that changed what I had written. He also did the same thing in different posts at the talkback, Please take car of it, ban him or something: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Al_Qamishli&action=history
Hello, I am not affiliated or employed with YTB. I was just updating the information because I have been reading a lot of information about Travel and I wanted to correct some of the incorrect information on the page (or update it), along with add some positive articles. It seems like YTB's competitors are using your site to post the negative aspects about the company. The updates I made is the verbiage directly from their investor relations website, so it should be correct and accurate. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1981Laura (talk • contribs)
In fact, the investor relations web site is not considered a reliable source at Wikipedia- instead, we try to rely on independent information, not information from the company itself. Articles should indeed include both negative and positive information, since Wikipedia is a neutral encyclopedia, and not a promotional organ. Your actions so far are quite typical of a public relations employee, but I'll know that you are indeed a neutral writer who's just interested in making the encyclopedia better as you move on to improve the articles about this company's competitors, too, so I don't have to worry too much about it now. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs)16:34, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I would also recommend reversing the direct from pages. YTB is the main company, and YourTravelBiz.com is a subsidiary company. Right now it appears as if YourTravelBiz.com is the main company. Have a good day. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 1981Laura (talk • contribs) 16:47, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I am concerned on why you changed the information that I corrected on the page. The information displayed is incorrect information. The first paragraph alone is 100% incorrect. It is not $495, and $50 a month. And travel site owners can not sell travel sites to others. I tried to update this page with correct information, but you changed it all back to the incorrect info. Now I understand why people say don't use Wikipedia for information. I am only trying to help? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 1981Laura (talk • contribs) 21:54, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Fisherqueen!
I was wondering if you can help me with a little problem. Mariah Carey pages have been blocked for a while so only administrators can edit them. The thing is that were all making a new page for her upcoming new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel but since her previous album is blocked we cant fix the chronology in order for it to go to the new page. To fix the problem all you would need to do is to go to the Ballads and fix the chronology so that it'll go to her new album page.
I didn't see the discussion/consensus on the article talk page, and I don't know anything about the subject; just use the {{editprotected}} template on the talk page and explain exactly what you want added, and where. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs)21:58, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
All the Mariah Carey articles are semi and full protected right now. Two unstoppable sock-puppeteers (Petergriffin9901 and JuStar) were hitting the area so hard that it was locked down for 6 weeks in an effort to see if they would get bored and leave.—Kww(talk) 15:39, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Fisherqueen,
We are interns at Central City Productions, producers of Know Your Heritage, we were not even finished editing the article before it was deleted. The show has been on for 30 years. We wanted to include the history of the show as well. If adding the airtime makes it look like an advertisement then we don't have to include that. Other than that we are unclear as to how it can be deemed an advertisement. We also created a page for the Stellar Gospel Awards, but when we type it in the search box on the Wikipedia homepage it doesn't pop up. We want our title to just be "The Stellar Gospel Awards" without the username in front of it. How do we publish it on Wikipedia? We also took a photo of the actual award with my camera. How do we upload that? We are having a lot of difficulty. We've gone through all the tutorials and we're going around in circles. If you could help that would be great!! Thank you so much. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Know Your Heritage (talk • contribs) 17:00, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you are the producers of the program, then you have a conflict of interest that would make it not appropriate for you to write about that particular subject, but if you're interested in helping to make the encyclopedia better, there are many other television programs with articles that could use improvement. What you were writing didn't look like a program that met the notability criteria, but of course I could be wrong- if it is a program of such significance that an international encyclopedia would be incomplete without an article about it, it's inevitable that someone other than the show's own producers will write about it. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs)17:13, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Since they edited for one hour on the 12th and haven't made an edit since, I think that no action is necessary at the moment; I think Elvis has left the building. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs)21:08, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hah, I goofed adding the link to a list and forgot the [[: in front of the category wikilink. If it had sat there much longer I would have noticed it when I checked the cat hopefully. Thanks for removing the cat.--Doug.(talk • contribs)12:16, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I left it for a while, because I thought you might be testing something I couldn't see. But after a while, my obsessive desire to clear the unblock queue got the better of me. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs)13:46, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Would it be possible to protect the page (complete protection) for say 72 hours so that a discussion on both ANI and the article's talk page can be completed and people don't have to have multiple tabs open to keep track of Damiens.rf's tag and template additions? - NeutralHomer • Talk • 18:57, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. You just blocked someone that I chose not to block - three times - and you failed to contact me. Care to explain yourself? Gimmetrow01:21, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Do you mean User:TheRealProducer? He removed the AfD template twice after you gave him a final warning that he'd be blocked if he did it again; did you not want him blocked? This puzzles me a bit; I don't see any indication on his talk page that he shouldn't be blocked, and I see two final warnings there. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs)01:37, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I see- you aren't the final warning person, but the comment. I guess, then, that my explanation is that he shouldn't be removing the AfD templates, or ignoring warnings, and that a block is the standard thing to follow a final warning. It didn't even occur to me to contact you, since I didn't realize from your comment that you were an admin, and because such blocks are so commonplace that I didn't think of it as controversial or problematic. I'd be happy to undo the block, if the user will give some commitment to refraining from taking the template off any more. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs)01:40, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's who I mean. Looks like a kid who doesn't quite get the wiki process, and people were editing so fast that older versions kept getting used, but I don't see vandalism. Actually seemed like the user was trying to improve the page (probably about himself, which is a different issue). Gimmetrow01:47, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I put a note on his talk page, inviting him to acknowledge the template problem and request unblock. I hope this is acceptable; I'm still going to bed, because 2:05UTC is bedtime where I live. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs)02:06, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Looks like the page got deleted, so the specific issue is largely moot unless the user tries to create it a third time. There were some more general issues here, though. One is that a lot of the reports to AIV about the same time as this incident were not really vandalism, but more content dispute (with some COI editing and edit warring in some cases), and the vandal-fighters had just slapped templates up without actually explaining the issues. If the "problem" editor was headstrong but in good faith, it seems like other approaches (eg, page protection) might result in better overall results. Gimmetrow20:36, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi - I think we have a misunderstanding here - I don't believe I was saying that Obama=Muslim is a fact. I was saying that it was important to note that the founder of the journal has published several articles (which I properly cited, please forgive me if I did not do this properly but I believe I did) saying that Obama is a Muslim. Just because he is printing a non-fact does not mean its not relevant.
People's opinions are often non-facts, but their background IS important. Please revert my changes. thanks Lovingphish (talk) 21:32, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I see what you're saying now, though I think it should be rephrased to make that a bit clearer. However, I can't revert your changes, because the sources you cited don't work- one of them is a blog; the other doesn't seem to discuss Middle East Quarterly or its founder at all. Still, I'm sure if you discuss it with the other editors of that article on the article talk page, you can all reach some consensus on the subject. If the founder's opinion isn't one of the purposes of the journal, and if that subject hasn't been discussed by reliable sources, then it doesn't need to be included- an encyclopedia doesn't draw conclusions, but only reports them. And, yes, my attention was drawn because you were showing up on the list of 'new users' but clearly aren't new to this article- however, I see that you've been editing it anonymously, and I'm glad you decided to register a username. It's a good thing to do. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs)21:39, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid that you are not allowed to use Wikipedia to advertise your business, even in your own userpage. Personal attacks are also against the rules. And I prefer that you leave comments at the bottom of my talk page, not repeated throughout the middle. You can sign your comments by using four tildes. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs)22:27, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Feel free to borrow it... but remember that it should only be used in situations when the editor in question has made a very clear and direct request to be blocked. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs)23:01, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I am sitting back, and reading, with great amusement the ongoing drama on this page. For the record, I am male, but take no offense at your typo or inadvertent mistake in referring to me as "she". My statement on WP:ANI that I will offer this user no further helpful advice still stands, as it is obvious to me that they can, and are very likely to, find "the garden path to destruction" on their own. Wuhwuzdat (talk) 02:32, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
On the internet, no one can see your winkle. :) I'm planning to back off and let her reflect on her decisions; there doesn't seem to be anything useful I can accomplish with further messages. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs)02:34, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you interact with this user again , it may help to inform them that "You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences." (quoted from the copyvio user warning). Reading their userpage conversations, it seems to me that they may feel that any information from copyrighted sources is not allowed, and are thereby frustrated in their search for usable references. They may not take the advice from you, but they would probably react quite badly (Again, sigh...) to me offering it directly. I know I stated that I would not "offer them any helpful advice", but sometimes the Good Samaritan in me comes out. Wuhwuzdat (talk) 01:34, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ugh, I'm finished with him, except to block him if he doesn't figure out how to communicate in clear, simple, polite English. He keeps saying "just go to the library and look." So I went to the library and looked. I found a sleeping homeless man, a science fiction novel, and the new Neko Case CD. Two of the three make me much happier than continuing to try to understand what he is saying. The third... actually, all three of them made me happier. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs)03:03, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New to Wikipedia and I think I got it wrong, but my article was on an appropriate topic, I think. If you have time, can you make a suggestion as to how I can improve the article? I also think I failed to link the article to the proper place, in this case, Jazz Pianists. The article I am trying to connect to that, to gloss the pianist David Berkman is also not quite right I am afraid. Thanks for any help with this.Tetrakord (talk) 02:34, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The first time I deleted that article, it was because the text was copied from another web page. This time, it's for the same reason as above- there's nothing in the article that indicates why the person is a notable musician, and the only source cited on the article is his own MySpace page. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs)12:12, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And now I've looked at your userpage; some of the claims on it would indeed constitute a case that you are a notable musician, though I don't know enough about the awards in question to say for sure, and I'd be looking for the existence, not of awards and publications, but of independent sources (ideally not published by your own university) that have discussed your importance as a musician. As a reasonable person, though, I encourage you to ask yourself whether you really want to be the subject of a Wikipedia article. As a person who is (and I hope this does not hurt your feelings) somewhat less famous than Ozzy Osbourne, you'll have fewer people watching this article than there are watching the one about him. Vandalism and false information might not be noticed on it. And, of course, if you do something really stupid, like embezzle or get arrested for inappropriate conduct with a sheep, your Queens College rivals will be quick to add that information to the article, where it'll stay as long as it's sourced. Many people in your situation- significant enough for inclusion, not so significant that there are many people watching the article- have come to wish that there wasn't an article about them, and to lobby unsuccessfully for deletion. Daniel Brandt and John Siegenthaler are the most famous examples -FisherQueen (talk · contribs)12:24, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Please change my username
When I joined with this username I tried first to start an account as User:Proxima Centauri which is my username on many other wikis. The computer wouldn't accept that username as there was already a User:Proxima centauri with a small c. Proxima centauri had registered but hadn't edited at all. I see now that the unused account has been deleted so there is no reason why I shouldn't be simply Proxima Centauri with a capital C. I created the Proxima Centauri userpage and redirected to my page so if you agree to change my name that page needs to be deleted before moving my userpage to User:Proxima Centauri. I've been Proxima Centauri 2 for over a year now but I never get used to being different from what I am on other wikis. Proxima Centauri 2 (talk) 17:06, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
With no disrespect, or bad feelings or intentions of upsetting you, I have this question:
Is it or is it not the goal for Wikipedia to have factual and correct information only?
If that in fact is the goal, then why do some pages, such as the Stevie Ray Vaughan page have so much
point of view, and sensationalism? Why do they get so wound up when you change something they added?
The NTSB article is linked at the bottom of the page, and all it takes to see that the information regarding
the crash is sensationalized is to read it. Help me understand. Also, why are editors allowing copyrighted
information to remain in that section without being removed, where in other sections of Wikipedia it wouldn't last
10 minutes. Without implying anything, it appears to me that maybe the folks that are interested in that article
consumed a little too much of an illegal substance in the 60's and 70's that is impairing their judgement.
Honestly I am ready to leave Wikipedia over this. I think that unless you are a member of a group here, you are
just not welcome. I probably won't be back. Sorry if I offended you or anyone else. I thought this was a place where
smart people came to contribute and be productive.Dfwaviator (talk) 01:56, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, this isn't the right place for the discussion. If you want to discuss what the best version of that article will be, you should share your ideas at Talk:Stevie Ray Vaughan. I don't make rulings about content in articles; Wikipedia decisions are made by consensus. I don't know very much about him, and I still don't understand what it is you want to do, so I'm not going to be much help to you. FisherQueen (talk · contribs)02:28, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You don't have to be part of a 'group' to edit successfully here. I don't know any of the people who have talked to you on your talk page; the friendly interaction which seemed like a conspiracy to you is just ordinary Wikipedia editors being nice to each other. I was new once, and I managed to do useful work without getting blocked or making enemies. I was just nice to the people I encountered, and when they corrected me, I learned from them instead of getting upset. No one had to tell me to do that; I just assumed that the rules of getting along with people that I had learned from my mother applied here as everywhere. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs)02:34, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I was away for the week, and she seems not to have done anything in three or four days, but I have her talk page and the article in question on my watchlist if she comes back. I've tried to work with her, but I have no interest in wading through her long sections about racism and Quebec politics when she hasn't yet proposed any actual facts to add to the article as far as I can tell. If she comes back, I'll invite her to propose an actual sentence with one source to add. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs)23:06, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
How do you change the world? You can start by writing an incredible article for the world's encyclopedia. Moni3 kicks it old school again with Stonewall riots - a series of spontaneous, violent demonstrations against a police raid that took place in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969 at the Stonewall Inn. [...] [T]hey have become the defining event that marked the start of the gay rights movement in the United States and around the world. It's a featured article hitting the mainpage this Sunday to mark the 40th anniversary of the events. So first off, wow! Clever and cool. Moni3 has been recently named hottest delegate to Obama's bookclub but that may not be official yet. (Shhh!)
Otto4711 mentioned that gee we really should swamp the DYK section with LGBT-related articles for use on the 28th as well. We have eight or so in the holding area and if you push yourself to get an article together you might be able to get in on the fun. Do this now!
The official rules for DYKs can be found here. Once you have expanded an article 5-fold or created an article with at least 1,500 characters of prose, place your DYK thread here. Use this handy tool to count your 1,500 characters. As a suggestion, when you add your potential hook, include the character count and a link to the source(s) that confirm the hook. These will be confirmed anyway but may help.
The layout for the individual quotes is here (just copy/paste into one of the red links on Portal:Transgender/Random quote). Then this counter has to be upped to match the new # of total quotes (not counting quote zero).
Obama proclamation
On June 1, President Barack Obama declared June 2009 Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month, citing the riots as a reason to "commit to achieving equal justice under law for LGBT Americans". Excerpts at the bottom.
F*ck me I'm famous
I was interviewed by Wikipedia Signpost, the weekly in-house newsletter, for the WikiProject report. The Signpost has nearly 1,000 Wikipedian subscribers and arguably many of those folks actually read it. It came about rather quickly and my worst fears - that it was an elaborate hoax by a troll - were apparently unfounded. I hope y'all feel I did fine by the project, I did my best to avoid the phrase "man-humping, cock-sucking, doggy-style loving queer" but otherwise did ok.
Free image appeal
A friendly reminder to consider taking photos while you're out and about at various Dyke marches and Pride parades. Consider donating them to the world at Wikicommons. I'm sooo totally over having to deal with lovely images being deleted and argued about. If they are just free they are then also freely usable worldwide. And no, they don't need photos of your cha-cha or hoo-hoo-dilly.
Sonny and Cher's daughter was a famous lesbian and now he's a famous transman, possibly the most famous in the world. This also serves as a friendly reminder that we recently updated Wikipedia:WikiProject LGBT studies/Guidelines - it's not perfect but should help inform on those gnip-gnop battles that do seem to drag on, and not in the good way.
As part of the redecorating at our talkpage, the article alerts and keyword search alerts are handily located at the top of the page. Always fascinating to see what's up. All help appreciated on those.
Glambert
Adam Lambert is soooo gay - surprised? Neither is anyone else. Nuff said. David Ogden Stiers was outed but apparently he wasn't terribly in either.
The LGBT studies project does have its own free Internet Relay Chat channel, #wikipedia-en-lgbtconnect, for coordination, collaboration and socializing. This channel is hosted on Freenode and can be accessed in one of two ways: If you already have an IRC client, click the link to the left. If you do not have an IRC client, you'll need to get one installed on your computer first. Once you've done this, then click on the link to the left.
For more general information on IRC and a listing of other useful Wikipedia-related channels, see Wikipedia:IRC channels.
The project had at one point another channel at #LGBTprojectconnect but as the original people associated with the setting up and administration of that channel have seemed to have disappeared, this new channel has been set up. Plus the new channel is inline with required naming conventions for Wikipedia related IRC channels. So, feel free to use this channel. Such a channel gives opportunity to discuss the latest happening on articles, the LGBT project itself, latest happening in your life with "wiki-friends" here, etc.. You can say things on there you normally wouldn't here on Wikipedia (keeping it civil of course) like talk about the latest hot guy/girl or tell a joke.. you get the point. Anyway, see you there - eventually!

It's easy to find when you learn a little more about how Wikipedia works. While you're reading about how Wikipedia works, you might learn some things that will inspire you to stop vandalizing Edward Low and to stop faking the whois information on your many, many sockpuppets, too. You might even learn how easy it is for us to revert and block you, and what a huge waste of your time such vandalism is, when you could be doing your small part to make the world better by improving the encyclopedia instead. A Request on Hopefully a DYK?
Hey, long time no see. I've spent some time building Buffalo 461 that I think would make a good WP:DYK as it's historically the biggest single loss of life in Canadian Peacekeeping, and (believe it or not) the most recent Canadian military plane to have been shot down (a whopping 35 years ago!).
