Slurry attack

I should just note he's also been whinging recently that Derbyshire police didn't charge a man who allegedly threw a bottle of water at him (Silk alleges this, the man himself has stated on the thisisderbyshire web forums [1] that he merely squirted water in his face, and since they were on camera at the time he hopes that the video footage will be made public). The footage was made public because I saw it on HIGNFY recently. It was definitely more of a squirting than a throwing. He was being interviewed by Dutch TV I think, and all you could see was a close up of his face and upper body, when someone suddenly appeared at the side and blasted him with water before running off. Irish background?

Both Kilroy and Silk are Irish surnames; does anyone know anything about Kilroy-Silk's paternal (and maternal) ancestry?

Although there is an Irish version of the Silk surname, the English version comes from a different source and is not related. The Silk part of Kilroy's name is the English version - however, on the maternal side, his grandmother's maiden name was Gibbons and the family originated in Ireland. Athough Kilroy is an Irish name, it was the surname of his stepfather so has no bearing.

TV career

Very little here about his morning chat show... the format of it, the types of things discussed etc. I would suggest that this aspect of his life is just as relevant as his political career. 16:14, 27 October 2006

Labour political career

Anyone know about his career as a Labour MP? Shadow Home Sec is quite a senior position (what Tony Blair was immediately before Leader of the Opposition).

He must have undergone a very sudden change in views, because there is no way he could be a Labour MP now (even though the party is well to the right of what it was in the early 80s) BillMasen 11:22, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

Kilroy was only a junior Home affairs spokesperson - Roy Hattersley and Gerald Kaufman were SHS in the period. Labour was actually anti-Europe in the early 1980s and UKIP has always contained people from quite a wide collection of political backgrounds united only in their desire to leave the EU - hence the repeated internal turmoil the party is in. Kilroy has certainly drifted but fringe single-issue parties and micro-party ego trips are notorious for taking all and sundry. Timrollpickering (talk) 12:30, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Personal life

The London Evening Standard ran a story today about Kilroy-Silk's (alleged?) illegitimate son, Danny Beauchamp. He's a 21 year old model. However, the article is a bit ambiguous - I'm not sure that Kilroy acknowledges his existance or not. Could be a publicity stunt. Removal of potentially contentious unsourced sections

In response to a message at the BLP noticeboard, I'm going through the article and removing anything that is unsourced and could reflect negatively upon the subject. I'll do as much other minor clean-up as I can at the same time. Itsmejudith (talk) 09:56, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

I've taken some out, but there is more to do and I'm going back to the BLP noticeboard to try and get more people involved. Much of what is now currently unsourced could be sourced by trawling through press archives. I've tagged as needing more sources, but a BLP should not really be left in such a state. Surname

In some parts of the main article he's referred to by his surname as "Kilroy-Silk", in others just as "Kilroy". Obviously he's well-known in the UK as plain "Kilroy" because of the TV show and the papers, but it makes the article look a little messy.
