Ivy Hill is a neighborhood in the West Ward of Newark, New Jersey. Ivy Hill is actually not part of Vailsburg. It had been part of Newark since 1890 when Newark bought most of it from South Orange Township (Maplewood). In 1926, another 110 acres was annexed by Newark. This neighborhood includes Ivy Hill Park Apartment complex, five 14 story buildings on 220-250 Mount Vernon Place and 5-85 Manor Drive. The construction of the apartment buildings was frowned upon by many in the neighborhood which is made up of mostly 2 family homes. This neighborhood has up to 3 schools and an Annex which was a Ukrainian School and then became Mount Vernon School for 2 years and then for 1 year Vailsburg middle School. Teri Shields, mother of actress and model Brook Shields was born in the neighborhood.

It is the home of artistic talent of such varying disciplines as rapper Rah Digga and artist Andre de Krayewski, and boyhood home of artist, Robert Florczak from 1953-1958.
