Gladstone Airport (IATA: GLT, ICAO: YGLA) is located in the western suburbs of Gladstone, Queensland, Australia about 10 km (6 miles) from the town's center, off Aerodrome Road, Gladstone.

The main supplier of scheduled passenger air services is QantasLink, a subsidiary of Qantas. Qantas flights QF400 and above operate from this terminal, with most services non-stop to, or from Brisbane Airport.

In March 2008, QantasLink was scheduled to operate about 38 return services per week (ie about 76 aircraft movements) between Gladstone and Brisbane using Dash 8 aircraft with seating from 50 to 72 passengers. In addition, a small number of direct flights operate to the north with the destinations of Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville and Cairns as well as the odd service to or from Bundaberg in the south.

The airport is owned and operated by the Gladstone Regional Council which took control of it by operation of the law when the Gladstone-Calliope Aerodrome Board was dissolved on 15 March 2007.[1]

Virgin Australia

Throughout the course of 2007, more than 21 regional airports across Australia were looked at for their viability for services by the former Virgin Blue - rebranded as Virgin Australia. If the airline were to fly to Gladstone it would be for services to/from Brisbane and perhaps Sydney using their Embraer E-Jets. In January 2010, it was stated that the airline was investigating potential services to the city or nearby airports such as Emerald or Bundaberg.[4] Virgin Australia will begin flights to Brisbane in October 2011 [5].
