This is an old revision of this page, as edited by 24.189.3.230 (talk) at 01:18, 10 August 2004 (BUT: they're different, that's like saying a Canadian is the same thing as a South African!!!!). The term Southeast Europe is usually synonymous with the Balkans in Europe. Recently, due to the resentment towards the term 'Balkan State,' countries not within the Balkan region have wanted to be known as a Southeastern European country instead. A good example of which is Slovenia which is not located in the Balkan mountains.

The following states are located in this region of Europe:

Slovenia
Croatia
Bosnia and Herzegovina
Serbia and Montenegro
Albania
Macedonia
Greece
Bulgaria
Romania

and sometimes:

Cyprus
Moldova
