American Idol season 14
Template:Infobox reality music competition
The fourteenth season of American Idol, also known as American Idol XIV, premiered on the Fox television network on January 7, 2015. Ryan Seacrest continues his role as host, while Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr. returned for their respective fourth, third and second seasons as judges. Randy Jackson stepped down as mentor for this season, and was replaced by Scott Borchetta. There will most likely not be a judges save this season due to scheduling and ending a week earlier than it would normally end. If there is (which there probably will be) than they will most like,y eliminated 2 the next week instead of 1 like they've been doing for the past 3 years.
Changes
The fourteenth season of American Idol features a number of major changes to its format and talent; some of these changes come in response to the falling popularity and viewership of Idol in comparison to NBC's competing series The Voice; viewership of the thirteenth season had fallen by 27%.[1][2] Former judge Randy Jackson, who served as a mentor on the previous season, left the show and was succeeded by Big Machine Records founder Scott Borchetta.[3] In May 2014, Ryan Seacrest signed a two-year extension to remain host of Idol through at least 2016.[4]
To evaluate their ability to perform in front of a live audience, the final 48 contestants participated in a private concert at the House of Blues in West Hollywood before being cut to 24.[1][2] Additionally, upon the start of the top 12 rounds, live results shows will be discontinued in favor of a single two-hour broadcast on Wednesday nights, in which results from the previous week will be revealed at the start of the program, similarly to Dancing with the Stars.[2] Long-time sponsor Coca-Cola ended its relationship with series, and the Ford Motor Company will maintain a reduced role.[1][2] In this season the number of votes is limited to 20 for each method of voting. There will most likely not be a judges save this season due to scheduling and ending a week earlier than it would normally end. If there is (which there probably will be) than they will most like,y eliminated 2 the next week instead of 1 like they've been doing for the past 3 years.

Contestants who appeared on other talent shows
- Adanna Duru was a contestant on the third season of The Voice. During the blind auditions, she performed "The Edge of Glory" by Lady Gaga and defaulted to Adam Levine's team. After they performed "Crazy in Love" by Beyoncé, she was eliminated in a Battle Round match with three-chair-turner Michelle Brooks-Thompson, who was herself eliminated in a Knockout Round match with Amanda Brown. Duru's coach Levine was reduced to an impartial judge after losing Brown and Melanie Martinez in week 5 of the live shows. Duru's blind audition and Battle Round match were montaged to 20-30 seconds when they were broadcast. The match actually happened on the last day of the Battle Round tapings.[52]
- Mark Andrew was a contestant on the fourth season of The Voice. During the blind auditions, he performed "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" by Bob Dylan and turned a chair around for Adam Levine and Shakira, but he elected to be on Shakira's team. After they performed "The Chair" by Fleetwood Mac, he was eliminated in a Battle Round match with Tawnya Reynolds, who herself was eliminated in a Knockout Round match with Garrett Gardner, a returnee from Duru's season of The Voice who was eliminated week 2 of the live shows alongside VEDO. The coaches Andrew turned a chair for were reduced to impartial judges after losing Amber Carrington and Sasha Allen during week 6 of the live shows. Unlike Duru's Voice audition, Andrew's blind audition aired in full.
- Nick Fradiani is the frontman for the band Beach Avenue, who auditioned for the ninth season of America's Got Talent. They made it through the judges, but they were cut during Judgement Week.
