Age of Mr. Spacely

Mr. Spacely's age is listed as being in his 60's (with a citation needed request). However, George Jetson is listed as 38, and apparently it is revealed in "A Jetsons Christmas Carol" that Mr. Spacely knew George when they were both youths. These two things cannot both be true. I suggest that Mr. Spacely's age is listed wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.179.0.21 (talk) 19:58, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jetsons' mechanic

What was the name of the Jetsons mechanic fix it guy? Does anyone have a picture of him?

Steve

His name was Henry Orbit. This is his picture (kind of small): [1]

Creator of the Jetsons

I was wondering who actually created the Jetsons? Can anyone help?!?!

Hanna-Barbera Productions. Unless you refer to the specific people who came up with the series' idea, for which I don't know. Anthony Dean 18:14, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The surface world?

George's second cousin Phil Richbourg grew up beneath the smog and pollution on Earth's surface. Is this accurate? I don't recall anything mentioned about the surface world in the show at all. Anthony Dean 18:14, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I rememeber a scene where they showed the ground, and it was not polluted. I think the idea of it being polluted came from one of the TV movies. DesignForDreamingFan 04:14, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Episode Listings

The episode listings at tv.com, at the linked fan site, and on [The Jetsons FAQ] all contradict the listings on this page. There doesn't seem to be much agreement on episode numering or order, but every other site lists 41 episodes for season 2, as opposed to the 24 listed here. Also, there's no #25 in the listing? Falcotron 04:07, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I found a more complete episode listing at [BCDB], which contains the same episodes as tv.com and the other sites, but actually has air dates for all of them, which allowed me to put them in order. Someone might want to look at the table and make sure the order and numbering are right. Falcotron 04:38, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I reordered Season 2 using an order at [Cartoon Resource]. However, even there the airdates are wrong. The new syndicated episodes premiered on September 16, *1985* - news articles from the late summer of 1985 refer to the upcoming new episodes, and the first TV listing I've found for the show is for Sept. 16. Also, it was a 5-days-a-week daily strip, so the new episodes almost certainly aired straight through for 41 weekdays from Sept. 16-Nov. 11. I also think this order is almost certainly the actual air order, because it starts with the episode that introduces Orbitty, and dating the episodes from 9/16/85 on, the Halloween-themed episode falls on Halloween. These two facts are, IMO, proof that this order is the correct air order, when dated with my airdates extrapolating from the 9/16/85 premiere date. TServo2049 16:06, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia?

These trivia were added but I cannot find anything on the net that supports them.

  • George Jetson's middle name was 'Washington'.
  • Rosie the robot maid's model number was XKE - the same model number as the 1962 Jaguar.

anyone have a source? -Ravedave 22:42, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Jetsons have been the subject of a highly sexualized parody cartoon series.

I beleive that hoever posted this is refering to the highly popular and incest prone "cartoon porn" Done by the artist know as JAB who drew a series of pictures involing most of the main cast with number of them centering george and judy.

"Their extremely simplistic and basic necessity in mechanics, and their similarities, juxtaposed with Cogswell's incessant offers to hire George away from Spacely, gives the show an eerily campy feeling." I don't understand why this is campy, why it's eerie, or how it's trivia rather than an opinion or impression. 66.194.65.196 23:42, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anachronisms

I'm removing the "anachronisms" from the trivia list - the show is over 40 years old - obviously it won't be a technically accurate vision of the future. To point out "mistakes" such as the Jetsons playing records instead of CDs is silly; it's like saying The Flintstones had bowling alleys, but in reality cavemen never had bowling alleys. It's a cartoon. Pufnstuf 21:54, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

We don't yet know about 2062. 75.118.170.35 (talk) 22:27, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

See also

Under the "See Also" section, I replaced The Simpsons with Futurama because the Jetsons is some what more similar to Futurama than the The Simpsons. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 209.244.187.117 (talk) 21:00, 11 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Fgjetsonspoof.png

Image:Fgjetsonspoof.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

a missing character

There was a pet with suction cups too he was some sort of space pet. Purple I believe. Any info on it would be appreciated, I have wondered about it from time to time and none of my friends recalled it. Any help would be appreciated. Elroy Jetson

Any reason why Elroy doesn't have a page, or even a section for that matter? DanMat6288 (talk) 15:49, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any source that links Elroy Jetson to Beany in the Beany & Cecil puppet shows and cartoons? I've been watching those, and obviously the voices are similar since it is Daws Butler doing a young-boy voice in both cases, but it seems to me that Elroy is modeled somewhat visually on Beany as well, down to the idiosyncratic headgear. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.243.198.122 (talk) 05:29, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Muppet Babies in "Parodies" section and Electrasol commercials

I can't remember the name and looking at a list of Muppet Babies episode titles didn't help any, so does anyone remember the Muppet Babies episodes that had all sorts of sci-fi spoofs? It was mainly Star Wars/Star Trek references, but the Jetsons are parodied when Kermit (as George) and Piggy (as Jane) crash their flying car while a parody of the Jetsons theme song plays (with the lyrics repeating everything they say). Anyone remember this? If a parody section we must have, it definitely belongs among them--IMO, probably the funniest Jetsons parody too.

By the way, does anyone know if the Electrasol commercial(s) with the Jetsons are an ongoing thing? I've only seen one fleetingly but I've heard there are a couple. Might be noteworthy for the trivia section if so. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.21.189.166 (talk) 23:55, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orbit(t)y

I have noticed that the spelling of Orbitty changes throughout the pages, does it have one t or two? For example in the plot section it has one, but in the differences section it has two. Tomato Jr. (talk) 19:58, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cogswell

Does anybody know whether this modification is correct? A google search with "S.K. Cogswell" jetsons -wikipedia and "C.G. Cogswell" jetsons -wikipedia gives both variants. --Cyfal (talk) 22:05, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

prime time: is/was

Some people [2] [3] [4], including me, have problems in saying "The Jetsons is a prime-time..." and changed it to "The Jetsons was a prime-time...", however they have been reverted. But: "prime-time" is not an attribute of the series itself like, e.g., "animated", it just means that it was at prime-time when aired for the first time. Nowadays, it isn't any longer prime-time, isn't it? So how can we say "is"? (My last suggestion for a reformulation[5] has also been reverted.) Maybe we should discuss this issue on the talk page now to avoid further back- and forth-changes between "is" and "was". (BTW: the guidelines are here: WP:MOSFICT, but of course didn't cover such a specific issue.) --Cyfal (talk) 11:04, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Jane Jetson

Jane was only 16 when having Judy?--Sweetheart2009 (talk) 00:33, 7 July 2009 (UTC)sweetheart2009[reply]

I'm not aware of either George's or Jane age being specificly stated in any of the cartoons. Jon (talk) 19:17, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In the article on George Jetson, it indicates that Jane is 35 when Judy is 16, thereby (if the information is correct), making her 19 at the birth of Judy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.126.231.179 (talk) 00:51, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm added cite needed note on the ages in both this article and the George Jetson article. Jon (talk) 17:14, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you watch the opening mins (2:20) of the episode here ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VyvnzhP2uM ), Jane states she is 32 years old and states "If I was only 15 again." (2:39) in ref to Judy. She states her bust, hips and waist as 32, 22, 32 at 2:44. -- Brent Millis —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.175.50.35 (talk) 06:08, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Time Period

In the introduction section, it says the Jetsons is set in the year 1999, but then in the "Time Period" section, it contradicts this with the year 2062. Both of these years have sources, although since I don't have the CD I can't verify the liner notes. Anyone know which year is actually accurate? Bwald (talk) 04:33, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The 'source' for the 1999 date give 2062 as the year, and doesn't mention 1999 at all. Changed the year to match source. 72.147.75.147 (talk) 07:30, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal for Jetsons

I believe Mr. Spacely,Rosie the Robot Maid, Astro (The Jetsons), Judy Jetson and George Jetson should be merged into this article. There is little third person info to assert notability. Dwanyewest (talk) 02:21, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think it might work better if there was at least a second article for Jetsons Characters
-TinGrin 04:57, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Support. The article "The Jetsons" needs to be well developed. Its hardly ever a good idea to separate tv characters from their original tv programs.
Krenakarore (talk) 22:52, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rosie and Astro

The stuff about them never being in a given episode together is (1) original research and (2) unimportant - unless you can find a citation for it. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots20:11, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Elroy's age

The age given for Elroy is incosistent between the main page (7 and a half) and the list of Jetsons characters page (6 and a half). Neither is cited. 72.240.100.102 (talk) 08:01, 23 November 2011 (UTC)Mike[reply]

Cleanup

  • I just did some major cleanup on the article, but more work still needs to be done. Aside from the fact that the character bios read like a PR piece from Hanna-Barbera studios, I had to delete a few things. I don't recall George's age ever being given; and although Elroy's age is given as 6-1/2 in the pilot episode, it was given as 8 in "Jane's Driving Lesson". Also, Cogswell's name was listed as Spencer Cogswell, which he did say in "Crime Games", but in "One Strike, You're Out", he was listed as W.C. Cogswell (and the intro to the article said H.G. Cogswell for some reason). Maybe I watch the show too much, lol Erpert Who is this guy? | Wanna talk about it? 08:58, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect information

The article claims that the treadmill was predicted by this show before it existed. As Wikipedia's own article about the treadmill shows, that is factually untrue, as treadmills for power and for exercise existed many years before the show.Jtcarpet (talk) 15:03, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

60s self reference

Under "Differences between versions" it mentions states "The original 1960s episodes are distinguished by 1960s design motifs, music, and references". What does that mean? It was hip?
