April 2013

Hi Stavros1, "Dont let the buggers get you down".

Stavros, please don't leave. You've done some great work on Norfolk hotels. I've expanded Pikes Hotel, Ibiza, easily meets requirements. The problem is that we do have some guidelines to hotels and 2 star and low quality guesthouses rarely cut the mustard. We don't have to cover every hotel and guesthouse but cover the more notable ones. Ibiza Rocks Hotel I'm pretty sure is notable and maybe the 3-star historic hotel in Norwich also up for deletion. Don't give in, let's try to save as many as we can huh?♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 15:45, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, you either grow a thicker skin or deprive yourself of contributing to a website which has obviously been an enjoyable hobby for you. If you leave they beat you and you lose out. There are ways to diminish difficulties with other editors, but I agree, people usually come looking for trouble rather than vice versa. I frequently have deletions to do deal with when I shouldn't have to, but unfortunately many people here are lazy and at times clueless. There is a staggering amount missing on Norfolk listed buildings, your choice, but I'd hope you'd still want to contribute regardless and remember that some editors here like what you do. ♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 19:04, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You. Will takes some time to think about your obsevations.  stavros1  ♣  21:09, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This pompous editor from Vancouver is enough to make anybody storm off in a huff! So many lazy editors on wikipedia who do nothing to help improve content and don't at least try to scout for sources. Generally I try to assume good faith and try to work with people, but when they resort to pass tagging and still continuing to argue their point long after it has clearly been expanded to meet GNG I turn sour. I've expanded the Manor hotel article too. Ibiza Rocks Hotel in the town is really not my thing but the sources have proven that its clearly notable at the AFD. Not really convinced on the notability of the other 2 star hotels in Norfolk. I think you'd be best avoiding those sorts of hotels, stick to the historic hotels and inns which are notable architecturally I think.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 21:17, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, but if you do decide to stay, my advice would be to get rid of the lesser notable hotels in the Norfolk template, 2 star hotels are rarely notable unless they are listed buildings, even 3 star hotels may not be notable it depends but in my opinion do often tend to meet guidelines. 4 and 5 star are notable, stick to those first. Unfortunately hotels have a very hard time on wikipedia and even the most diverse and prolific of editors often reject them and show a disinterest in editing them. Me, I love historic and luxury hotels which have a long history/or and architecturally grand, but I admittedly feel rather different about the regular 2 star type hotels which every town has several of unless the buildings are really notable. The Leading Hotels of the World in my opinion is priority for hotel work on wikipedia, those are really notable hotels.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 06:34, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Stavros please stay. Your work is much appreciated. Other editors take a look at his Norfolk lifeboat articles. Don't let the buggars get you down. (Northmetpit (talk) 10:03, 11 April 2013 (UTC)).[reply]

Pikes Hotel, Ibiza kept, there you go.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 18:42, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ses Feixes Wetlands

Hi Stavros 1

your article about Ses Feixes Wetlands is great ! Might we use it for a spanish Wiki-page translating it or at least parts of it? Would you allow me ? Saludos--JanManu (talk) 10:07, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Stravos 1, that is very kind of you, letting us use your article or parts of it for a spanish and the catalan WP site. Thank you very much.--JanManu (talk) 15:30, 24 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

Hi Stravos1, Welcome back we missed you.Northmetpit (talk) 10:32, 17 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for message. Do tend to agree with your comments on unhelpful editors. It's a shame really because the majority of people on here are OK. I try not let them get at me and I will continue to use my knowledge if any in helping to compile wiki. Cheers Northmetpit (talk) 14:36, 18 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. File permission problem with File:Toulouse Geese.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Toulouse Geese.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 21:05, 6 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please claim your upload(s): File:Wayside Cross at Alymerton.jpg

Hi, Thank you, for uploading this file.

However, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure all media on English Wikipedia is correctly licensed and attributed it would be appreciated if you were able to confirm some details,

If it's your own work, please include {{own}}, amend the {{information}} added by a third party, and change the license to an appropriate "self" variant. You can also add |claimed=yes to the {{media by uploader}} or {{presumed_self}} tag if it is present to indicate that you've acknowledged the image, and license shown (and updated the {{information}} where appropriate).

If it's not your own work please provide as much sourcing/authorship information as you are able to.

It would also be appreciated if you could "claim" or update the source and licensing on other media you uploaded, You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

This will assist those reviewing the many many "free" images on commons that have not yet been transferred to Commons. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:49, 11 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
