Stars - Canadian/Montreal band

Not Sure I'm asking this question of the appropriate authorities, but I'm sure you'll be able to address the issue.

I was trying to remember the name of Amy Millan, a member of the Montreal band Stars.

When I enter Stars in the Wikipedia search engine, its response is to take me to the page Star, and tell me that I was redirected from my search for Stars. You do have a wikipedia entry for the Montreal band Stars, but no disambiguation page for Stars. I've never tried to create a disambiguation page in Wikipedia, and thought I'd leave that to the experts.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stars_(Canadian_band)

Sometimes a disambiguation page serves for several variations on a word. In this case Star (disambiguation), to which you are directed from Star, says at the top "Star, Stars or The Star may also refer to". And the Canadian band is in there. Rojomoke (talk) 03:52, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Considering the number of "Stars" entries on the "star" disambiguation page, I suggest it would be better if the hatnote in Star read:
I'd change it myself, but it's semi-protected. --69.159.60.210 (talk) 08:25, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I went to change it as suggested, but it's not regular wiki text, it comes from this template {{other uses}}. So not sure how to best proceed. SemanticMantis (talk) 16:07, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Using {{About|the astronomical bodies|other uses of star or stars|Star (disambiguation)}}

should give you this:

Italian basketball

Is the Serie A2 Basket the same thing as the Lega Basket Serie A2? Your page about Allan Ray says that his team is in the Lega Basket Serie A2, but it doesn't have an article, and most sports leagues seem to have Wikipedia articles. 73.148.30.221 (talk) 16:57, 7 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it looks to be so. See it:Lega Basket and it:Serie A (pallacanestro maschile). --Jayron32 23:33, 7 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why was Pelé not selected for the England vs Rest-of-the-World game?

Does anyone know why Pelé was not part of the Rest-of-the-World team in the 1963 England v Rest of the World football match? I know he injured himself during the 1962 FIFA World Cup but surely that can't be the reason as that was more than a year before. Did he get injured again in the meantime? Or what? Basemetal 10:23, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

http://www.esquire.co.uk/culture/news/a5057/england-vs-the-rest-of-the-world-50-years-on/ says: "Pelé was unable to make it, although invited [his club Santos declined Fifa’s invitation]". PrimeHunter (talk) 11:58, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2455519/The-day-England-real-world-beaters-How-Sir-Alf-Ramseys-heroes-beat-Alfredo-di-Stefano-Co.html says he was injured. Some sources say he actually played the match, e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/England-Rest-World-1963-DVD/dp/B001RUQEJS, and http://www.kabrna.com/marsh/row63.htm which is linked on "Report" in our article. All links are from the Google search 1963 England "Rest of the World" Pele. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:11, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you PrimeHunter. As to whether Pelé did or did not show up I think I'll go with Esquire and Daily Mail (as does WP). As to why he didn't (my original question) we're back to square one. Esquire says Santos didn't let him and Daily Mail that he was injured. Technically those are not incompatible. Esquire just says Santos did not respond to the invitation. He might also have been injured. What would happen nowadays if a club tried, for no good reason, to prevent one of their players from taking part in an international game or competition organized by FIFA or one of the regional federations? Could they do that? Basemetal 11:31, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There are FIFA regulations that govern how and when teams must release players to take part in international competitions for their national teams. These international matches take place on specified weeks only in order to limit disruptions to other competitions. A team refusing to abide could face sanctions. From Cap (sport): "FIFA rules state that any club that refuses to release a player for national team duty is barred from using the player for two matches, a rule which is intended to discourage clubs from pretending that the player is injured. However, it is a player's choice to refuse to play for or retire from his or her national team." I don't think that a match that does not feature two actual national teams, such as the 1963 match in question, would be governed by this rule nowadays, however. --Xuxl (talk) 15:09, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Further to the above comment, FIFA International Match Calendar and the associated references are relevant for international matches. Hack (talk) 14:41, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why Portsmouth have so big money problems?

2008 Portsmouth win FA Cup then 2009 no money to pay players, have to sell players and go adminstration. What happen so they sudden owe very much money? Wikipedia Portsmouth article never say and news never say. Is they borrow money to win FA Cup like Leeds borrow money to go Champions League then earn not enough to pay back? --Curious Cat On Her Last Life (talk) 14:24, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

See The Guardian - What's gone wrong at Portsmouth? Ten reasons for the demise of a club which describes the situation in 2010. BTW the Wikipedia article in question is Portsmouth FC. Alansplodge (talk) 20:18, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Darts while pregnant

What are the rules regarding playing darts while pregnant? On Saturday the commentators said Clare was 7 months pregnant. Surely the stress of trying to become World Champion is not good for the baby? (Mobile mundo (talk) 17:39, 9 January 2017 (UTC))[reply]

You are making the claim that stress is not good for babies in the womb. Why? What is that claim based on? There are many studies on early childhood abuse and neglect as a negative stress. I cannot find anything that draws a clear cause-effect relationship between any and all stress and a baby still in the womb. 209.149.113.5 (talk) 17:43, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Prenatal stress. Our article is pretty rubbish, but with that terminology you'll find plenty of stuff online. Fgf10 (talk) 19:32, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It is important to read the articles. The "stress" discussed is not "oh my, will I win this game?" 209.149.113.5 (talk) 20:27, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It is important to read your own statement and not be condescending. Your statement clearly described stress in general, not the specific case posed by the OP. I'm well aware of prenatal stress thank you, it is one of the things I study professionally. Fgf10 (talk) 08:00, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I was commenting to the question, not to your response. The question is asking why our society could possibly allow a woman to go submit her unborn child to the gut-wrenching stress of playing darts. Assuming that it is a real question and that the person will read the responses, it is important to read the papers linked in the article you mentioned and not assume that all stress is equal. 209.149.113.5 (talk) 12:18, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Added heading to query. Deor (talk) 17:53, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
My daughter-in-law is 8 months pregnant with her second child. She is still at work running her hydrotherapy business and is perfectly healthy and happy. Foeti are a lot more robust than most people think. So are their mothers. Their fathers, not so much. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 23:23, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The laws against gender discrimination are such that any attempt to ban a woman from taking part in such a contest while pregnant would probably be illegal. Wymspen (talk) 09:52, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It's to be hoped that the woman's doctor would be involved in any discussion about anything that might be "stressful". On the physical level, as opposed to psychological stress, darts might not be a problem, but highly physical sports like tackle football could be. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots19:28, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Read this. It happens at the highest levels of sport often enough. Cornelia Pfohl competed twice in Archery while pregnant, winning a bronze medal in 2000 (early in one pregnancy) and placing 18th in 2004 (7 months pregnant). The answer is that women who are pregnant can do whatever they want, under the advice of qualified medical professionals, and don't need unknown, paternalistic random men on the internet speculating on what they could or could not do for the "health" of their baby. --Jayron32 21:18, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Bhagam Bhag 2006 Hindi

1. The commissioner shot Vikram in Self-Defense, so why does Commissioner get Arrested in the End of the Movie?

2. Will the Commissioner still have to do Jail Time why?(73.220.163.13 (talk) 08:01, 10 January 2017 (UTC)).[reply]

It happened because the writer wanted it to happen that way. As it is fictional, no-one will go to jail. Wymspen (talk) 18:10, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That is one sort of answer, but 73.220 may have been intending to ask for an answer within the scope of the fiction. In other words, does this movie (I assume it's a movie) establish a reason why the commissioner is arrested, and does it imply that the commissioner will go to jail? I have no idea; I don't watch Hindi movies; but the question is not unreasonable. --69.159.60.210 (talk) 22:55, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
