Star Empire Entertainment (Korean:스타제국 Seuta Jeguk) is a South Korean entertainment company founded by Shin Ju Hak in 2000. Star Empire specializes in producing R&B and hip-hop music.

Star Empire has been the home to the original Korean idol groups like Jewelry and V.O.S. The label current roster includes ZE:A, Nine Muses, NASTY NASTY, Imfact, OMZM and Seo In-young.

History

Star Empire Entertainment was founded in 2000 and created hits with debuting musicians Jewelry in 2001 and V.O.S. in 2004. Star Empire has performed in Seoul, Tokyo and Osaka, Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington D.C..

In 2007, Star Empire signed established artist Poppin' Hyun Joon.

In February 2009, Star Empire debuting soloist Kim Sori, who was joined the agency auditioned to become new member of Jewelry in late 2006, but was not chosen by the agency. Following Sori's debut, Star Empire returned to debuting a nine-member boy group ZE:A in January 2010, its was the first boy group since V.O.S six years prior.

In March 2010, KMP Holdings was established via a joint venture between SM, YG, JYP, Star Empire Entertainment, and other companies like Medialine, CAN Entertainment and Music Factory. KMP is the official distributor of releases from these companies. KMP stands for Korean Music Power.[1]

Star Empire debuted nine-member girl group Nine Muses in August 2010 with admissions and graduation concept, its was the first girl group since Jewelry nine years prior.

In November 2012, KMP Holdings was acquired by KT Music, and in June 2013, KT Music absorbed KMP's distribution network.[2]

Star Empire debuted a four-member boy group SoReal in 2014. On January 7, 2015, Star Empire announced that Jewelry official disbanded after 14-years debut.[3] In end-years 2015, V.O.S official leaving from the company after their contract expired.

In January 2016, Star Empire debuted boy group Imfact. On March 4, former Jewelry member, Seo In-young was signed with Star Empire Entertainment again after parted ways in 2012.[4]

On January 7, 2017 Star Empire made an official statement that ZE:A contract with the company has expired but they are still in talks for contracts renewal with the members.[citation needed]

Siwan recently sat down for an interview with MyDaily on March 23 and talked about ZE:A and other subjects. The singer turned actor stated, "ZE:A is not thinking of giving up nor disbanding. It's just that we've all been busy recently with our individual activities so it was only obvious for people to make such speculations." [5]
