HIV

I started to edit HIV before I saw {{in use}}. So, I will hold off until you're done.

Please be aware that <b /> is invalid markup; also, the entire caption where you inserted it displays as one paragraph, so why not unwrap the paragraph and do it this way (colon inserted)

[[image:HIV Membrane fusion panel.svg|thumb|400px|'''Mechanism of viral entry''': '''1.''' Initial interaction between gp120 and CD4. '''2.''' Conformational change in gp120 allows for secondary interaction with CCR5. '''3.''' The distal tips of gp41 are inserted into the cellular membrane. '''4.''' gp41 undergoes significant conformational change; folding in half and forming coiled-coils. This process pulls the viral and cellular membranes together, fusing them.]]

As long as you're doing a big overhaul, I have another suggestion:

  • A negative result rules out HIV exposure, while a positive one must be followed by an HIV-1/2 antibody differentiation immunoassay to detect which is present.

I don't know what this means, but I think it means,

  • A negative result rules out HIV exposure, while a positive one must be followed by an HIV-1/2 antibody differentiation immunoassay to detect which antibodies are present.

Hi, I have finished editing HIV. Just added some new information, updated some statistics and added information about treatment and cure. I am, however, finished now.
I'm not so sure about <b /> and the invalid markup as I did not add that and am not well versed in images on Wikipedia.
You can go ahead and edit the article. Your suggestion is noted and is now added.
Thanks for your patience Anomalocaris

Done Oh I see what you mean, <b /> being bold, will fix it now.

Copypatrol

Hi Waddie96 and thank you for your interest in copyright cleanup. I was looking at some of the reports you assessed at Copypatrol, and noticed that the edit to Scots School Albury that you marked as "no action needed" contains material copied from the here and here. The source listed at CopyPatrol may not be the actual source of the prose. In this case it was obvious, at least to me ("The sense of community in our boarding houses underpins the supportive environment"), that the material was copied from the school website. I have cleaned the article and alerted the editors as to our copyright requirements. (The two IPs are likely the same person though)

Another example is N-Butanol where you state that the material was copied from another Wikipedia article but you don't state which one, and I don't see where you alerted the person who copied the content that attribution is required or where you added the attribution yourself. Please see WP:copying within Wikipedia for more information on this topic. I have added the required attribution and alerted the editor as to how to do it properly in the future.

Here's another problem: you marked Understanding Khiamniungan (now located at Draft:Understanding Khiamniungan) as "no action needed" when there's a large copyright violation from http://tuensang.nic.in/khiamniungan.html. I will check your remaining assessments when I get back from the gym. Please don't do any more of this work until you have a lot more experience on Wikipedia. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 15:35, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Diannaa: Will do. Waddie96 (talk) 06:36, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Diannaa: With regards to, N-Butanol, the user renamed the page from Butanol to N-Butanol hence the data from the page was flagged as copyright. The copyright material was actually copied from Butanol.
Apologies I was trying my best, I'm new at this and appreciate someone checking my work. I'm using Twinkle but am interested in other programs and ways that'll make my copyright checking more accurate. Maybe you could help me? I don't want to feel as though my work isn't valued albeit I made a few mistakes. Your assistance would be appreciated. Waddie96 (talk) 06:46, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I would rather you didn't work on copyright cleanup at all until you have a lot more experience, as it took me longer to check and repair your work than it would have to do it myself. Your error rate is extremely high. In addition to those already mentioned, I found copyvio on Joe Ellis, which you have marked as "no action needed"; Sarbanes–Oxley Act and Karachi Development Authority, where some of the copyvio had been removed but not all; on Muhajir people you removed content but there was actually no copyright violation (the material was from an old version of the same Wikipedia page); and I found four instances where you'd added a template to the user talk page but had not signed it, which would be awkward for a new user, as the template suggests contacting you if they have any questions. How would they know who you are if you have not told them? Where you did remove copyvio, you didn't mention in your edit summary where the material was copied from, and in all instances where you found violations you missed an important step: requesting revision deletion of the copyvio material. So for these reasons I recommend that you not work in any administrative areas at this time. Please find another way to contribute. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 11:40, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmation's in progress

Dear Waddie96, thank you for your message but I think you're not right beause I have not committed any copy violations because first I have indicated the sources from its official website which can be seen in the references so it was not copied or pasted word by word and on the other side the Hungarian Historical Society asked me for creating wikipedia article in English as well so it allowed me to use the text of the Hungarian Historical Society freely. I have indicated on its talk page that the confirmation's in progress. The text in the article in question is not unlisenced, and I am sending the permission To: permissions-commons@wikimedia.org to prove this claim.Borgatya (talk) 19:06, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Borgatya: Hi, the selected publications were copy/pasted from http://www.tortenelmitarsulat.hu/egyeb/pdf/kiadvanyok.pdf in Hungarian, though it appears the .pdf that had the copyrighted material is now inaccessible and I have tried to {{wayback}} to no avail. My request was that if you could please edit this text to avoid using copy/pasted data from the above-mentioned website and translate the Hungarian text to English as this is an English article. If you do not do this, I will have to WP:AGF revert as per WP:COPYVIO and you will have to add your publications with Hungarian text at Magyar_Történelmi_Társulat. We at Wikipedia would love it though if you could include these publications without copyright material in English on the page Hungarian_Historical_Society. Waddie96 (talk) 20:56, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Borgatya: Please correct the copy vio as per WP:COPYVIO on Hungarian_Historical_Society. During this time please keep the {{copypaste}} notice up. Ping me when you have done so so I can make a decision whether the copyright violation should be enforced or retracted. Thank you and kind regards. Waddie96 (talk) 21:22, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry if you cannot understand that I have not committed copyviolation because it is only a publication list whose titles can be translated but it is not a problem, a mistake if any publication lists are not translated into English and these publication lists are of course similar to the main source so I think you misunderstand the copyviolaton rule because ONLY TEXTS WORD BY WORD can cause copyviolation, but pasting a similar list cannot but I DO NOT want to quarrel with you and I delate all the publacation lists and I only mention the types of publications that were published in the Society and if the permission had accepted, I will add this list to article I hope you accept my decision and I delate the copyvio template.Borgatya (talk) 23:56, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Waddie96, I wanted to let you know that I have just removed the CSD A7. Being a player in a first division national football club is sufficient claim of significance. The article may be tagged for improvement of references. Failing that and in the case of failing notability, this may have to go the AfD route. If you have any questions, pls let me know. pseudonym Jake Brockman talk 07:52, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

my first edit List of Royalty by Net Worth- please help

Hi Waddie96 - i'm just responding to your message that my edits have been undone because of 'verifiability' issues. However, the reason for the edits is because the whole article has verifiability issues (it's based on one 8 year old article in Forbes that has no sources itself). There is a more recent forbes article specifically about Arab billionaires so I propose partly 'correcting' the list at least using this as a source https://www.forbesmiddleeast.com/en/list/the-worlds-richest-arabs-2016/. This would mean that Ahmed Bin Saeed would be deleted as he's no longer on the rich list, Bin Saud would be deleted as not on the list as he's passed away, I would add the 2 new entries from the newer list etcZero1zero2 (talk) 08:38, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[1][reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia from the Medicine WikiProject!

Welcome to Wikipedia and WikiProject Medicine

Welcome to Wikipedia from WikiProject Medicine (also known as WPMED).

We're a group of editors who strive to improve the quality of medical articles here on Wikipedia. One of our members has noticed that you are interested in editing medical articles; it's great to have a new interested editor on board. In your wiki-voyages, a few things that may be relevant to editing Wikipedia articles are:

  • Thanks for coming aboard! We always appreciate a new editor. Feel free to leave us a message at any time on our talk page. If you are interested in joining the project yourself, there is a participant list where you can sign up. Please leave a message on the WPMED talk page if you have any problems, suggestions, would like review of an article, need suggestions for articles to edit, or would like some collaboration when editing!
  • Sourcing of medical and health-related content on Wikipedia is guided by our medical sourcing guidelines, commonly referred to as MEDRS. These guidelines typically require recent secondary sources to support information; their application is further explained here. Primary sources (case studies, case reports, research studies) are rarely used, especially if the primary sources are produced by the organisation or individual who is promoting a claim.
  • The Wikipedia community includes a wide variety of editors with different interests, skills, and knowledge. We all manage to get along through a lot of discussion that happens under the scenes and through the bold, edit, discuss editing cycle. If you encounter any problems, you can discuss them on an article's talk page or post a message on the WPMED talk page.

Feel free to drop a note on my talk page if you have any problems. I wish you all the best on your wiki voyages! Carl Fredrik talk 21:29, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, will you be attending Wikimania 2018 in Cape Town the 18th-22nd July? There may be scholarships to cover the fee. Best, Carl Fredrik talk 21:32, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@CFCF: Hey! I would love to but wasn't aware of the scholarships, do you have more info on this? And thanks for the welcome by the way! Regards, Waddie96 (talk) 21:36, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The official deadline was the 22nd of January, but seeing as you are so close there may be other grants, especially if you have accommodation in Cape Town. The fees aren't published yet, so I can't give any more info right now. But if you're interested feel free to remind me in mid April. Otherwise, you're very welcome to join the WikiProject. Rollback granted

Hi Waddie96. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Widr (talk) 07:34, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Prod

Please read WP:PROD. Specifically "If anybody objects to the deletion (usually by removing the proposed deletion/dated tag—see full instructions below), the proposal is aborted and may not be re-proposed." Please don't re-insert PROD templates. Polyamorph (talk) 15:54, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Polyamorph: Read and understood. Thanks, Waddie96 (talk) 16:05, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback

Hi, an experienced rollback user here.

I understand that today you were granted Rollback rights. On the same day I've already noticed a few of your reverts of edits that aren't considered vandalism. Here just because this is an unreferenced statement doesn't mean the edit is vandalism (On a side note, also be wary that rollback reverts all of the user's edits in one go, and that includes Huggle). Here the editor was copyediting. Please read WP:VANDNOT for more information about what types of edits are not considered vandalism. Minima© (talk) 16:01, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Minimac: Yes, sorry I had never seen those edits before. I had to enable the feature that delays button presses between edits (I set it to 1 second) as I noticed when I pressed 'R', it asked me if I want to revert a Userspace page, only to realise that wasn't the initial revert. Feature is enabled and won't happen again. Thanks for the concern, Waddie96 (talk) 16:07, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I have declined your CSD A7 nomination of this article as the criteria only applies to real people, animals, organisations, bands, web content and events - not food. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:42, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, having read the other discussions, I'm going to go further - stop all maintenance activities. That means no rollback, no Huggle, no anti-vandalism, no copyright cleanup - that means article writing or copyediting. You seem to be making too many mistakes and seem to be lacking the appropriate empathy for somebody working in the "behind the scenes" activities. I notice Diannaa has already told you this, but I don't think there's any need to do anything else at this stage, just to warn you that you need to up your game a bit. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:46, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Noted, I will resume maintenace activities when I have gained enough experience in article writing and copyediting. Best, Waddie96 (talk) 19:36, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A message from Psb777 - domestic servant

Possibly what you say is regional. In Jhb and Kimberley it was "servant". "Domestic" doesn't mean anything other "pertaining to the home". Even then: This is an int'l encyclopedia. If what you said is true we must write so that it is understood by everyone. Finally: A google search for ' "south africa" "servants quarters" ' return 800,000 hits. A Google seafch for ' "South Africa" "domestic quarters" ' returns 200,000.

Paul Beardsell (talk) 18:23, 8 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Psb777: I understand, and as per Wikipedia policy I accept the change back to your original wording :). I was not around for the era and hence don't know if the term was servant or domestic but since in post-Apartheid era we say domestic, as servant and maid have negative conitations, I thought it might be more appropriate to say domestic. Servant to me implies working without wage, but I guess, as per even servant, that is not the case. Thanks! -- Waddie96 (talk) 18:29, 8 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's required to notify everyone mentioned in an ANI discussion. Essentially you're criticizing me for following the rules. Also, I'm not "believed to be a sockpuppet of an ongoing SPI," whatever that means. Your continuing to call me a sockpuppet when no one has concluded that I am one is a personal attack. 192.160.216.52 (talk) 16:49, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
