Blackmail (stylised as Blackमेल)[2] is 2018 Indian Hindi-language black comedy drama film co-produced and directed by Abhinay Deo, starring Irrfan Khan and Kirti Kulhari in the lead roles while Divya Dutta, Arunoday Singh and Omi Vaidya in supporting roles, produced under T-Series Films and RDP Motion Pictures banners.[3][4][5][6] The first teaser of the film was released on 13 February 2018 and is released on 6 April 2018.[7][8] The official trailer of the film was released on 21 February, 2018. The film depicts life of a middle-aged married-man stuck in a full day-time job and unexciting life but things turn after he finds that his wife is having an extramarital affair.[3]

- Irrfan Khan as Dev Kaushal - A frustrated Buissnessman whose life is not going on a right way. He isn't happy with his job and he has certain problems with his married life.
- Kirti Kulhari as Reena Kaushal- Wife of Dev Kaushal.She betrayed her Husband and has affair with a former lover.
- Divya Dutta as Dolly Verma - Ranjit's wife
- Arunoday Singh as Ranjit "Tommy" Arora - Boyfriend of Dev's wife. Dev catch them when he returned home from his work early one day.

Production
Initially, the film's working title was Blackmail after which it was renamed as Raita and then back to Blackmail again. It was scheduled for release on 30 March 2018 but was postponed to 6 April 2018.[4][5][9]
Promotion
After the special screening for Amitabh Bachchan on 31 March 2018, the makers organised another special screening on 2 April 2018 in the absence of lead actor Irrfan Khan (who is currently undergoing treatment for neuroendocrine tumour in UK) for contemporary bollywood film directors, which was attended by Rajkumar Hirani, Amol Gupte, Nishikant Kamat, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Tanuja Chandra, Meghna Gulzar, Ravi Udyawar, Rensil D'Silva, Sudhir Mishra, Sriram Raghavan, Soumik Sen, Pradeep Sarkar, Mukesh Chhabra and others, to a positive response.[10][11][9]

The music of the film is composed by Amit Trivedi, Badshah and Guru Randhawa while lyrics are penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya, Badshah, Guru Randhawa, Divine and Dhaval Parab. The first song of the film, Happy Happy which is sung by Badshah and Aastha Gill was released on 24 February 2018. The second song of the film to be released was Patola which is a remastered version of 2015 non-album single of same name by Guru Randhawa featuring Bohemia and lyrics written by Guru Randhawa and Sabi was released on 5 March 2018. The third track of the film, Badla which is sung by Amit Trivedi and rapped by Divine was released on 16 March 2018. The fourth song of the film, Bewafa Beauty which is sung by Pawni Pandey was released on 22 March 2018. The music album of the film consists of 6 songs was released on 23 March 2018 by T-Series.

Reception
Rajeev Masand gave the film a rating of 3 out of 5 and said that, "It’s the film’s unique brand of humor – some of it pitch black and Coen-esque – that makes Blackmail worth your time, despite its shortcomings."[12] Sweta Kausal of Hindustan Times gave the film a rating of 3 out of 5 and said that Blackmail is a "Fun filled and realistic story-telling made interesting with engaging and hilarious performances of Irrfan Khan and Divya Dutta.".[13] Rachit Gupta of The Times of India gave the film a rating of 4 out of 5 saying that, "The plot of Blackmail is its hero and it manages to strike a good balance between dark and funny. This is one of the most wickedly funny films that we’ve seen in a long time."[14] Raja Sen of NDTV gave the film a rating of 1.5 out of 5 and said that, "Irrfan is incapable of giving a bad performance but Abhinay Deo's farce is too tacky and poorly-conceived to do Khan justice".[15] Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express gave the film a rating of 2 out of 5 and said that, "The Irrfan Khan starrer begins promisingly but descends pretty quickly into flatness and sluggishness, a classic problem of not knowing quite how to play out a perky idea."[16]
