The Delhi cricket team is one of the first-class cricket teams based in Delhi, run by the Delhi District Cricket Association, that plays in India's domestic competition, the Ranji Trophy. They have won the tournament seven times and have been runners-up eight. Their latest title in 2007-08 came after a long wait of 16 years. The previous win was in the 1991-92 season when they beat Tamil Nadu in the final. The team's home ground is Feroz Shah Kotla Ground. In the Duleep and Deodhar Trophy, Delhi comes under the North Zone team.
Competition history
Delhi have made a strong performance in the Ranji Trophy throughout its history. Three of its five wins came in the 1980s and the remainder were in the late 1970s, a period marked by the dominance of a famous Mumbai team. This formed a golden period for Delhi between 1978 and 1987: it was in the finals for all but one of those years (winning 4, runner up for 4).[1]
Its six appearances in the Irani Trophy showed mixed results, losing to the Rest of India side four times and winning twice.

Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is a Twenty20 cricket domestic championship in India, organized by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), among the teams from Ranji Trophy. The 2008-09 season was the inaugural season for this trophy. It is named after a famous Indian cricketer, Syed Mushtaq Ali. In June 2016, the BCCI announced that the championship would be scrapped and replaced with a zonal-based competition.

Vijay Hazare Trophy
The Vijay Hazare Trophy, also known as the Ranji One-Day Trophy, was started in 2002–03 as a limited-overs cricket domestic competition involving state teams from the Ranji Trophy plates. It is named after the famous Indian cricketer Vijay Hazare.
