Timestamps

Sorry bro for not updating the timestamps. I was editing on the go so I got a tad lazy. I’m usually pretty meticulous with the time updates so it’s just a one off.

Apologies, Gus Indubitably58 (talk) 22:39, 20 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

League Cup,

I don't get it, we have loads of footballer articles, we simple write League Cup, why are we suddenly changing it to Football League Cup? Govvy (talk) 16:59, 27 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

In my experience, competition names are written in full in honours sections. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:00, 27 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Where in the world is Hull...

How exactly would one cite that Hull is in East Yorkshire?

On the subject of Paul Kings place of birth, Humberside was still in existence on his date of birth. But has since been dissolved. Hull is now within the ceremonial county of East Yorkshire.

So really both could be correct. Hull, hell & happiness (talk) 19:53, 27 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

We put the region as at the time of the subject's birth, meaning Humberside is correct in this instance. Mattythewhite (talk) 21:34, 27 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - you reverted my edit to Derek Adams with the edit comment rvv. In fact I was reverting vandalism myself. If you have a look at it now you will see the original change I reverted back in place plus some more stuff that needs to go. Best wishes, Tacyarg (talk) 08:22, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you look at my edit you will see all I did was remove vandalism. I don't see what the issue is. Mattythewhite (talk) 13:45, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Jon Toral

Hi. Do you really need an explanation to understand that Toral was only part of the youth teams of Barcelona? Perhaps the Category:FC Barcelona players is not understood, and even a basketball player of the club enters it. But I understand that it refers to the players of the first team. There are other categories for Barça B, C, etc. --Zigurat (talk) 22:53, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It is standard practice to include club categories even when the player did not make an appearance. Why should FC Barcelona be an exception? Mattythewhite (talk) 22:54, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Appearances in play-off games

Quick question - as I cannot remember the answer. What's the situation with appearances in play-off games - do these go into the infobox under league appearances - or are they 'Other' games for this purpose and stored under 'other' for club appearances in the club stats section with a footnote to explain? Thanks, Zanoni (talk) 11:13, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

They should go in the Other column, with a footnote stating what competition(s) the appearances came in, like here. Mattythewhite (talk) 12:33, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Matty, how are you?

This aforementioned IP was blocked on Saturday for 24 hours due to adding misleading info (i.e. wrong stats in the infobox). However, he keeps on doing the same thing, and fails to communicate. Should we block him a little further? Cheers, MYS77 13:06, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I've just left a L4 warning, let me know if they persist. Mattythewhite (talk) 13:08, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you note

I just had to do it, sorry it took me so long... As calm and collected as they come :)

incomplete update?

Looked completed to me, so confused. Govvy (talk) 13:00, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The infobox timestamp and table date were left untouched, meaning we're presenting our readers with misleading data. Mattythewhite (talk) 13:17, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
lol, that's easier enough to fix without having to rv. Govvy (talk) 14:00, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Is it, though? It would involve having to check the sources to verify the content is correct, and in any case, the burden is on the user who made the incomplete update. It's shouldn't be up to me, or indeed anyone, to clean up after someone else. Mattythewhite (talk) 14:17, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Need your help

Hello friend, I need your help. I want you to go to the Clube Regatas do Flamengo page and change the article in soccer to football as it should be. As we already know, association football is called football in Brazil and not soccer. I've tried changing it a few times, but a user named Walter repeatedly reverses it. thank you Jozamba (talk) 20:18, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Administrators must secure their accounts

The Arbitration Committee may require a new RfA if your account is compromised.

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)

ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.

Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.

We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.

For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:04, 4 May 2019 (UTC) Template:Z83[reply]

Hello there,

i reinstated the Championship honour (now) with a source, but am not sure of the rules enforced in this competition regarding the number of appearances needed for a winners' medal. If Mr. Pinto's three matches do not grant him such, please re-remove the accolade and sorry for any inconvenience.

Speaking of honours, i don't think calling the 2012 Supercupa României non-notable (third competition in Romania, he played match from start to end) is accurate. I would understand if you thought runner-up finishes were not important and thus remove them all, but you left the Cupa României; what's the difference, because i fail to see it?

Attentively --Quite A Character (talk) 17:42, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Based on it being a one-match, two-team competition that is barely competitive. Mattythewhite (talk) 18:01, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Matthewcarleton14

Hello Mattythewhite, regarding the recent edits you flagged at User talk:Matthewcarleton14, the account looks like yet another sock of a blocked user. I've had dealings with past incarnations including User:Matthewcarleton15, User:Matthewcarleton16, User:Matthewcarleton17. I hope this helps. Thanks Declangi (talk) 22:51, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, blocked per WP:DUCK. Mattythewhite (talk) 22:56, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I posted this question on a Talk page over a month ago, without any reply, but perhaps I put it in the wrong place. Are you by any chance able to comment (I see you have posted on the same Talk page)?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Unreal7#After_Dark_(TV_series)?

Just trying to find out what the rules on this are. Many thanks for any help. AnOpenMedium (talk) 16:59, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I don't deal with articles in that field very often so I can't really advise. I would recommend asking at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:09, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Will do. AnOpenMedium (talk) 17:11, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

My content of editing was good.

Hello there! Actually I edited and gave good information. It was true whatever information I gave. So what was wrong? Can you explain to me? Deepakraj Deep at the XY Foundation (talk)

It was unsourced. I have already explained this to you on your talk page. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:20, 10 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies

Hello Matty,

I'd like to apologise for the Liam Hogan edit.

Thanks.
