Sudheer Babu (born Sudheer Babu Posani; 11 May 1980) is an Indian film actor and former professional Badminton player. He primarily works in the Telugu film industry. He made his debut as a hero in the Tollywood with the film Shiva Manasulo Shruti. He is well known for his roles in Prema Katha Chitram and in Baaghi, where he played the antagonist. He recently launched his production house, "Sudheer Babu Productions".

Early life and Badminton Career

Sudheer Posani was born to Posani Nageswara Rao and his wife Posani Rani in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. He has an elder sister Karuna. He did his schooling in Vijayawada in Siddartha Public School and attended M.S.Ramaiah Institute of Technology briefly in Bangalore. After dropping out, he graduated from Maharishi Institute of Management, Hyderabad.

Later, he developed an interest in badminton and took it up professionally and soon became the National School Games runner-up and a Junior Badminton World Cup probable. Babu eventually became the Number 1 ranked player of Andhra Pradesh as well as Karnataka. He has played alongside Pullela Gopichand as a doubles partner.[1] He is scheduled to play the role of Gopichand in the latter's biopic.[2]

Film career

Sudheer began his acting career with the film Ye Maaya Chesave, which was directed by Gautham Menon. The film was produced by his sister-in-law Manjula Ghattamaneni. In the film, he played the role of female protagonist's brother.[3] Sudheer made his debut in a leading role with the film SMS (Siva Manasulo Sruthi), directed by Tatineni Satya of Bheemli Kabadi Jattu fame.[4] The film was released on 10 February 2012.[5] It was produced by Vikram Raju under the Super Good Films banner. Actress Regina Cassandra, who also made her debut with this film, was paired with Sudheer. The film was a remake of the 2009 Tamil film Siva Manasula Sakthi.[6]

His second film as protagonist, Prema Katha Chitram, was released on 7 June 2013. Nandita acted alongside him. This film, directed by J. Prabhakar Reddy and produced by Director Maruthi, received very positive reviews. [7] Sudheer and Nandita won critical acclaim for their performances. The same year, he appeared in Aadu Magaadra Bujji as the protagonist. The film, which was directed by G. Krishnareddy, also features Asmita Sood and Poonam Kaur.[8] He is currently working on his next film called "V", produced by Dil Raju, which is set to release on 25 March 2020.[9]

Personal life

Sudheer married Priyadarsini, the younger daughter of Telugu actor Krishna, in the year 2006. The couple has two sons, Charith Maanas and Darshan. He is the brother-in-law of Telugu actor Mahesh Babu.
