The Sims is a video game for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube consoles. It is based on the hit Windows game of the same name, which went on to become the best selling computer game of all time.

The console version of The Sims is a somewhat different game from the blockbuster Windows games. It features some gameplay modifications, a 3D camera perspective and some resources from some Windows' expansions: parties, dates, jobs and a story-based mode entitled Get a life. However, an object limiter is active on all houses to prevent the player from constructing and furnishing a house too big for the console to load (game consoles and computers have different abilities).

    Get a Life storyline

    Template:Spoilers

    Dream House

The Get a Life mode begins after the player makes a character. The character is found in a nice house with a hot tub in the middle. Then, a man (if the player's character is a female) or female (if the player's character is a male) appears. She/he gets into the hot tub and tells the player's character to join him/her. When the character gets in, the character suddenly hears a woman's voice saying "stop daydreaming", But if you don't get in the hot tub, she says "You never joined me in the hot tub, I'm out of here!" then game over.

    Money from Mom

It turns out what just happened was just the character daydreaming. The character is actually living in their mom's house and want to move out. Before moving out, the character's mom wants them to repair the broken TV, cook a meal, and get a job so that they are ready. The character also has to get money; 800 simoleans (the currency). When they have done everything, their mom will say that she has found a house for them to rent. But if you get mom or yourself on fire, you can Prea or let them die so it's game over.

    Reality Bites

The character has moved to a new house for the time being. Nobody's living with them. The thing is, the house is a mess. Everything's broken, there is trash everywhere and the toilet's clogged. A new character, either Mimi (if the character is a girl) or Dudley (if the character is a boy) will come over and say that the character can stay in the house for free if they tidy up the house and fix all the stuff. Either Dudley or Mimi will let the character stay at their house after they have gotten promoted two times and have gotten new stuff in the house. After the player has done everything, the character will go to their house and become roommates.

    Party Animals

The character has moved into another house, which Dudley/Mimi lives in. The player may want the character to live with somebody else as soon as possible. To do so, the character has to throw a party and find somebody to be their roommate. The character must also get promoted two more times. After the character gets two promotions, they can move out with a person at the party.

    Hot to Trot

The person the character is living with at this point is only temporary, as they may want to find a person to marry. In this level, the character has to get promoted another two levels and throw another party. At this party, the character has to find someone of the opposite sex and try to "score" with them. When they do, they get married and move in with him/her.

    Who Loves Ya Baby

Now the character is in their house with their spouse and they are all alone. They have to have two babies and take care of them until they are kids. When they grow to be kids, the characters' main goal is to not let their marks drop to "F" or they will be sent to military school. The character also has to get promoted another two levels yet again. After they have done everything, they will move to another house.

    The Last Simolean

Now that the character has completed almost everything, there are only a few more things left to do. The character has to keep the kids' grades high enough to be sent into prep school. They also have to get promoted to the highest level. Then, the characters have to save up 20,000 simoleans to buy a yacht. Then, the characters have to throw one retirement party. After this, the game is completed.
