Question

I am hoping in the future to bring this article up to FA status. Before I might try to copyedit or do a general overhaul of the article, I would like to know what the editors of this article think about what this article requires until it can reach FA status. Sorry for the very late response to this! Like I said on my own talk page awhile back, I don't have much time for Wikipedia these days. But I'm still interested in this article and wish that I could be more involved here. I'm gonna try to find some time to work on the article a bit - not sure how far I'll get. Once I've made changes of my own, I'll let you know what else can be done. Thanks for taking an interest in the article! --Jpcase (talk) 16:10, 20 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. @JerrySa1: One thing you can do in the meantime would be to simply look for more information that could be added to the article - there's bound to be a lot of Production and Reception information about the show that hasn't been added here yet. The best place to look would probably be in books and news archive services. --Jpcase (talk) 16:13, 20 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Merchandise

Just a heads up to JerrySa1- I restored the information that you removed from the "Merchandise" section. I kinda see what you mean about the information being trivial - but personally, I find it interesting. I know that List of SpongeBob SquarePants merchandise exists as a separate article, and so it's reasonable to relegate some information to there. But it doesn't look like the information you removed is currently mentioned in that separate article. I'd like to at least see the information remain somewhere on Wikipedia. Whether it's mentioned here in the main SpongeBob article or in the "list of merchandise" article could certainly be open to discussion though. -Jpcase (talk) 02:43, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Verifiability of Ween Facebook Page lacking checkmark.

There's a post by the Ween Facebook page talking about how Stephen Hillenburg contacted the band to say their album The Mollusk was an influence on him when he was in the middle of creating the cartoon. User:Magitroopa seems to think this page is unreliable, since it does not feature a verifiable checkmark, and falls under WP:NOTRS or WP:OR.

Ween's website directly links their social media pages in the side banner, underneath their large cover image. The website directly sells tickets, so it is authentic. The website also links to their verified Instagram page, along with linking with an unverified Twitter and aforementioned Facebook account. This facebook account also is directly synced with Bandsintown, where promotion of artists is obviously verified. This evidence proves the verifiability of the page, as it would not be associated with the band's official website (The verified instagram account also links back to the website, if there's an argument about the website not being genuine). There is no direct verification, but this really is WP:COMMON - why would a band's official website link two fake accounts and one real one? This isn't an absurd claim either, passing WP:SOCIALMEDIA - the band has had songs used in the cartoon, and a commissioned song - it's not like they're a complete outside influence. There are also the sources I already linked which back the Facebook post up. I also don't see anything in Wikipedia:Verifiability that says anything about verified checkmarks - and although this evidence I'm saying about is WP:OR given that I needed to check links between the band's website - I never said I needed to cite them in the article - just the original post. The larger issue that it is a self-published source. Even if it were a verified official page, someone on Facebook saying someone else once told them something is not reliable. Self-published sources are generally not reliable for claims about people or things other than themselves, and even then only to a very limited degree. I would be against including this unless better sources have verified it, even if we presume that the ownership of the Facebook page is not in doubt. "SpongeBob vs. The Big One"

"The episode, which premiered on TV on April 17, 2010, features Johnny Depp as a guest star" is wrong, because the episode aired on April 17, 2009, not 2010. 2A02:2F0D:301:0:1982:993A:2A8E:7A17 (talk) 07:41, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
