The Our Homeland Movement (Hungarian: Mi Hazánk Mozgalom) is a far-right neo-fascist political party in Hungary. The Our Homeland Movement was founded by Ásotthalom mayor and former Jobbik Vice-President László Toroczkai, along with other Jobbik dissidents that left the organization after Jobbik's leadership moved away from its radical roots and turned towards moderate conservatism. The party's formation has received support from the ruling Fidesz party, in what has been described as an attempt to draw "radical right" support away from the anti-government Jobbik to a party that is "loyal to Fidesz".[1]
History
On 14 October 2018, the Our Homeland Movement's politicians announced that the party will organize a youth wing. On November 7, 2018, László Toroczkai announced to the media that 3 former Jobbik politicians, István Apáti, Erik Fülöp and János Volner, have joined his political party.[2]
In May 2019, it was announced that the Our Homeland Movement will be forming the National Legion, a uniformed 'self-defense' group similar to the Magyar Gárda, the paramilitary wing of the ultra-nationalist Jobbik party, which was banned in 2009.[3][4]
In the 2019 Hungarian local elections, the Our Homeland Movement managed to win 8 seats in counties' assemblies.
